Pain pain pain

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

Today was all about pain. I wrote about it at my blog here

What's your impression of pain after you work out?

If it's muscle soreness from being worked, I love pain after a workout.

Ugh Tuesday

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Ever have those days that you wish would have gone different? Well, mine was today. I was all excited because I had setup a plan for exercise to train for a half a marathon. I have 12 weeks of a schedule, so I wanted to get started on it. Got dressed in cute exercise clothes to make myself feel good, packed on the outside gear so that I could walk to the gym and grabbed my umbrella. It was rainy rather hard, the wind was blowing and the wind chill temperature was low due to the rain. By the time I got to the gym, I was thrilled since I was going to start up the training that my body needs and wanted to get warm.

Then I saw it, a little computer print off sign that stated, "sorry the gym will be closed for a few hours - smiley face and sorry"... This would be fine if they had warned us but not one notification was given. So mad!!! grrr emoticon It is a gym that we pay for in our townhouse dues, so it's "free" but still - we pay for it in our contract why is it not open? There was a guy working on some paint or something - so it was planned ahead of time - just not with us as the payers! I walked all that way to see the sign with a smiley face...

Grr As you can tell, I wasn't happy. The gym was closed all last week too because they were adding a few new tv's and "new" equipment which I have been told is just a new treadmill. So it appears that this week is going to be another week or not running... I'm really sad because I really need the workout but unfortunately its raining and cold outside. Should I just take the plunge and hope I don't get sick by running in the rain outside?

Oh I would have been so mad!!! Time to get some outdoor gear. I would avoid running in the rain though! Don't want to get sick

Oh man, I hate when workouts get messed up like that. Running in the rain is ok if you are dressed warm enough, have a brimmed hat on, and and out of traffic. I always run in the bike lane, and in the dark, so if it is raining hard, I skip the outdoor run, I figure, why tempt fate, y'know?

No answer, but I know that you will overcome this challenge and meet your goal in spite of the paint and new tv's and on. You are going to run the half marathon and nothing not even a frustrating gym is going to stop you. Go!!!1

Lent & Fasting

Monday, March 07, 2011

I can't believe I haven't been on here for a while, wow! It has been a strange last week or so due to the weather. It has been really sunny with warmer weather then instant cold and a few inches of snow the next. Very weird! Every sunny day is just like a candy store since I love running outside! Yay!! Last week we were able to run outside about three days which makes me a very happy person. Our gym is getting refurnished with all new tv's and possibly new machines, so it is a mess. Additionally, there are no televisions so it is incredibly hard to run on the treadmill for more than 30 minutes without a tv... yikes! Never knew I was so addicted to the tv when I ran inside. Anyone else tried it? lol (Not suggested!)

So, on to healthy eating and running outside I hope and pray. ^_^ BTW, anyone fasting for Lent season? I'm thinking about it but not sure if it's okay for my weight loss and health while running. emoticon

Fish Fridays, of course and I'm giving up alcohol.

Our priest said something the other day in Mass about fasting of a different kind than with food. He suggested focusing on a difficult relationship that could be repaired during Lent. Or volunteer work. Or reading scripture and following something different every day. I'm going to do something like that. I really like my food plan and don't want to mess with it.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Well there are different ways of fasting. My husband does always make sure not to eat meat on Fridays during Lent. I really think whatever makes you mindful of the season and of Christ is a good way to observe Lent. Last year I gave up alcohol, which was good for my diet but very hard to stick to in social situations and at dinners with wine pairings.

I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy the sunny weather. I just listen to misic when I run but we do have a TV set up as well.
I grew up Jewish, so no Lent for me.

I have been loving the sun too but its been super windy every day its been nice out (and I hate running in the wind). Can't wait for spring!

No fasting here. I was never big on following the traditions. Good luck if you decide to!

Sunshine Yay!

Sorry I have been absent lately - I have been working on work and my website. ^_^ It was all worth it. Things are going to be rather busy the next few months for me seeing that we are looking for a new place to live, possibly moving out of state again, running outside, doing more work on my website and also doing some work for other people. Crazy how life does that to us - all at once. emoticon

I'm trying to keep motivated through the stress and everything - hoping to keep more of a regular schedule around here too. Best Wishes!
