Lacking Motivation...

This morning again I jumped on the weight scale and saw that I still had gained three pounds even though I have stuck to my plan of exercise and healthy eating. I'm really disappointed because I have been working so hard and trying to eat really healthy without any results at all. And no, my measurements have not changed towards the lower end - they have either stayed the same in areas and/or increased in other areas. My exercise has been great lately and my eating habits are where they should be... I'm so discouraged that right now I know I'm falling into a slump that I normally fall into that makes me stop my diet plan. I'm not sure why I have a lose of over 4000 calories this week but I'm showing that I gained 3 pounds! 3500 calories to burn 1 pound off the body but for me it's the complete opposite. So depressed...

(Sorry, in a really bad mood - not all sunshine and rainbows today like normal...)

    I know how that feels, but don't lose to that weighing scale!

Do you measure your body? Sometimes they are better at telling if we're losing than the scale!

Please don't give up!

    Your weight flucuated everyday! Don't let the scale run your life, maybe consider putting it away for some time. I usually weigh in around two times a week. On Saturdays to track my progress and usually peak somewhere in-between. I worked really hard this week but don't expect to lose. My TOM is approaching! And even though I burnt a lit if calories I binged over last weekend. Instead of dwelling on this though I am just gonna keep pushing. Once my weigh is more under control- I'm challenging myself to banish that scale for a month at a tome like I used to.

    Oh man this happened to me two weeks ago. 3 lb UP after having what I thought had been a good week??? What in the world?!* How blankety-blank-blank frustrating. But was nearing TTOTM...that must have been it! Those 3 lb were history last week and took one of their lousy friends with them!
What's that quote I heard years ago on a WW board...something like, "Don't give up before the miracle!"

    Don't forget it's not only about losing weight but live healthier too. Even if your scale does not show it, you did a great favor to your body eating the right things and getting exercise. Keep up the good job, it will pay in the end ! emoticon

    I've been in your shoes many times before, but I've learned that our bodies aren't like robots and will not do what we expect it to do. I used to invest a lot of time calculating my calories in spreadsheets and figuring if I ate x amount of calories and burned another x amount each day, I should lose x amount of weight every week. It just doesn't work that way.

Our bodies retain water -- whether from stress, PMS, too much sodium, lifting weights... you name it. You'll probably be back to normal tomorrow or within a few days.

I know it's hard but don't let the numbers upset you, just give it time. Our hard work may not always reflect on the scale, but eventually it will.

I have struggled to lose weight/inches forever, it seems, so trust me when I say: I understand exactly how you must feel. But look at the big picture. You're one day healthier!! I've learned to not beat myself up. Think about this: You are feeling 10 times healthier than you did a week ago, you are loving yourself a whole lot more for the way you're taking care of your body, and more importantly, I'm sure when you embarked on your weight loss journey, today was not listed as the one single day in the entire year for your scale to reach a certain number. So if you didn't hit the mark, guess what? You still have many, many other opportunities to hit it. Is today that crucial to make it worth stopping this wonderful life changing step that you have started? Is today the day you want to mark on your calendar as "The day I gave up"? My dear, the only feasible option is to be encouraged by ALL that you have accomplished. This is one more day to be a winner. The weight loss will come in time as long as you continue to take the right steps...Like me, you don't know when that day is but one thing we know: This is lifetime journey, and one day won't break me. You wrote your blog early enough to still make the right choice and STAY ON TRACK!! Weight loss is only one of the many benefits of continuing the race!!

    Hey keep your head up , I know exactly how you are feeling! I had the same problem last week I stepped on my scale (once a week) and it said I had gained 4 lbs! I was so depressed because I knew that I had not eaten ANYTHING that I wasn't suppose too! So I just kept on with my running, weights and crossfit classes and today I weighed what I was suppose too! So
I agree with Supermouse35 totally! Be proud of yourself and your accomplishments and be happy!

Vegan Challenge: Join Me?

Morning everyone! It is gorgeous outside my window - full of sunshine and warm tidings! I'm officially calling it the start of spring, since it is beautiful outside and the birds are singing! I just want to open up the windows and let the air come in - unfortunately it's only 30 degrees outside. haha Maybe I will wait...

Along with spring, I am feeling the need for fresh fruits and veggies. My body always seems to tell me that it's time for the farmers market to come back to town around this time of the year. Hopefully some of you also get this feeling too! Since it is a new month, I decided that I was going to go along with a 21 days of veganism for fun and health purposes! There are so many wonderful benefits of going vegan!

Yes, I'm practically vegan already however I am more or less a flexitarian right now. So if you are still with me throughout my babbling, I found this wonderful website that was created by "Neal Barnard, M.D., one of America’s leading health advocates". He has a wonderful website that is for a 21 day Vegan kickstart program. He mentions that by taking on this challenge you are "trim excess weight, prevent diabetes, cut cholesterol, lower blood pressure, prevent and reverse heart disease, and reduce cancer risk. They even trim our carbon footprint." Hello, doesn't all of that sound perfect! Even if it's only for 21 days - why would anyone say no? The website has weekly grocery lists and also a menu plan that you just print off and follow throughout the week. That means no planning!!!! It's perfect! Plus it has webcasts, celebrity tips daily, eating out guides, daily message and so much more. It is like going to a dietitian but not paying for one!

I'm really excited about trying out the 21 day vegan kickstart program! Even if you are not wishing to be vegan, take the challenge and see how you feel at the end. You will be amazed at how easy it is and how much healthier you feel afterwards! Plus, hello, no planning on what you are going to eat and so on. Just follow the plan and keep motivated along the way.

I think it would be wonderful to do this along with some other sparkies! Please note that you have to print off the free recipes and menu plan by Saturday for the first week. The next week will be posted on Saturday. I'm starting my first week (I'm behind) this Saturday March 6th! Who's going to join me?

    I did the 21-day vegan kickstart on Jan 1 and have continued vegan. I also am doing the one started March 1. I'm finding it is just a repeat on the one in january but I like keeping my focus and the encouragement this program provides me.

Happy Hinamatsuri!! (Japanese girl's Festival)

#26376;3日(火) Happy Hinamatsuri! In Japan today it is a festival called Girl's Day! It is a day just for us girls! Usually it is for younger generations however since I love to celebrate things - let's all celebrate Hinamatsuri together! Just some photos to celebrate the day. Since we are all here for a life change, let's celebrate being us!

Sore Forearm & neck...

Seriously, I think that my husband and I are having a fight in our sleep... I've heard of people that eat when they are sleep walking, maybe we fight... I woke up Monday morning and was in deep pain. Now, I didn't actually make it to the gym or do any exercise on Sunday because I was feeling lazy - winter blues... yuck! Saturday my husband and I went outside to make a snowman and snowpup, that's all. So, not sure what happened but when I woke up on Monday - I felt over my age... I could barely type - which is hard since that is basically a major part of what I do as a job... Then my neck (which honestly I think I slept on it wrong somehow) was in deep pain whenever I moved. Is this really what turning old feels like? But I'm not even thirty years old - I have a long way to go before then don't I? Oh no...

Today I am feeling better- just s slightly pain in both. I've been icing the arm and heating the neck. haha I must be a sight to anyone that sees me through our windows. Not that I really care as long as it feels better. I have been really relaxing but I fear that I am relaxing too much and letting things slide - especially since it's that time of the month for me. Why is it again we woman always want to eat more (especially chocolate) when we have our periods... is it punishment? haha

Trying to keep positive through the pain - going to take some painkillers and pray that I can get to the gym tonight to do a little of something at least to burn off this chocolate craving.

a message to myself... eating when depressed is not the answer... even if it is just air-popped popcorn... yet again I have let the weather turn my smile upside down and let my emotions run wild... getting out of the household is hard to do when it's very cold outside and I work from home. In addition, my husband never wants to go anywhere on the weekend because he works hard outside the house during the week. It's hard moving to a place where no one is known and working indoors all day.

I guess I am feeling the winter blues everyone... motivation is low now (what a change from Friday) and I'm trying to write a small message to remind myself of this even that should not have happened...
