Do Pounds Really Come off?

Monday, March 16, 2009

Is it me or do pounds never really come off once they have attached themselves to our bodies? This week marks my fourth week on the diet, that is one month, with no results yet. I have not lost one pound! I was watching a movie on NOVA about everyday people trying to run a marathon in Boston. Apparently non of those people lost weight except for one person that was running and doing circuit training. I am doing both so I hope that I will see some results sometime soon. Is anyone else having this problem? I can't seem to lose my first pound.... emoticon

It's the first pound and then the 10th pound and the 20th pound and so on that is the hardest. To me the vereeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hardest was the food tracking. Disciplining myself to sit down and record everything I ate. I started in January and the one thing I had decided was to stick with the food tracker if nothing else. I thinks it's starting to kick in. I often refer to the tracker before I have that extra snack on Saturday night. Now, don't get me wrong, I have a long way to go I still have many days that I fail at staying within the numbers. But, I am still trying and I really believe that if you track your food and pay attention to the numbers you can not fail.

I really didn't lose much my first month either - my body held on to water like it was going out of style until I started drinking 10+ cups a day instead of just 8. But it WILL happen soon.

Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

The other day I came across someone that stated she loved this DVD but found that it wasn't for her. I put it aside until I came another friend that mentioned it. I am not sure if the popularity is due to the Biggest Loser television show or if this lady has it going on. So, I decided to go to my favorite site, youtube and I found the video series on it. I tried it out and I think I might just purchase it now. I am going to try it for a few more days and then see what I think. It is so nice to try something out before having to pay for it! I found that the DVD was a little easy though and didn't work out my entire body as I had hoped. This might be because I have been exercising like crazy lately though. Time will tell. I will let you know what I think. I am going to use the DVD set for exercising before I go to the gym - it warms up the body nicely. emoticon

Heavy Legs...

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

I found out yesterday that after a few weeks of solid exercise I hit a bump in the road. I was on the treadmill like I do everyday since it is cold in my region still. My legs felt like bags of potatoes but I found the energy to keep going. I want to be successful at losing weight once more so I did want was recommended at Spark. I am a little worried though since I have been on the diet for around three weeks and I have not lost any pounds. Today I am going to do my measurements and hope for some sort of change. It is so hard to find encouragement to go to the gym each day when you know your body isn't changing. Changes are essential to keep going. I have to find out what is going on with my body and why I am not losing any weight. Shouldn't I be losing something in three weeks of doing everything that Spark does? emoticon

I hear a lot of the same. I know I should be doing more and I think I'm only doing what's needed to maintain. I think I'll get an urge once the weather gets a little more hopeful. This has been a long winter! Stick to it - I'm sure it will hit soon! emoticon

Cinnamon Roll Wednesday

Wednesday, March 04, 2009

This first full week working with S.P. is very interesting. We have tried to keep to our menu for the week with gusto up until I forgot to take the wonton wrappers out of the freezer last night. Oops! I was doing so good also! I am not that sad though because we found a meal that would fit well in our daily calorie intake and we were happy once again. Today although has been a little more tight on calories since I had to make Cinnamon Rolls for my husband for tomorrow's work. It was really hard not tasting the food while I was baking to check for accuracy. I think the other hardest part if trying to have the baked goods in the house (made from scratch) and not eating them. I found that I was low on my calorie intake today so I decided to have a little treat and have the roll without the frosting. I'm learning to take baby steps this time. I'm not going to deprive myself of all the yummy fatty foods, just most of the time. Moderation is the key - not starvation. We are doing good on our exercise though which I am happy about. I have not lose weight yet however I feel a little better about myself - and I have found that I feel fresher than before - more energy! emoticon

Sounds like you have a good, confident attitude and plan to chase those pounds away. I've been battling a cold this week, but I'm going to try to get on the exercise bike today for at least 20 minutes. I made my mom's cinnamon cake last Saturday for a card party that we went to and ate most of the leftovers on Sunday. I did taste the batter and licked the bowl as I made it and it came out just like mom's! OK, let's try to get past the cinnamon thing this week. I will if you will? emoticon

Terrible Mondays

Tuesday, March 03, 2009

emoticonMondays are just terrible aren't they? Yesterday was yet another Monday and my husband and I both found ourselves not wanting to go to the gym after all the work of getting through the day. For some reason we run out of energy on days such as Mondays when we feel there is nothing worse than continuing the day with sweating and walking in the 20 degree weather. So, with not going to the gym for one day, I feel fatter...

I keep asking myself, how many pounds should I be losing each week. The website states that if I follow the plans and lose the calories that they suggest I should lose weight. So far I have gained a whole pound since exercising and eating right for a few days now. I'm a little unsatisfied but I am going to keep going to see where my hard work will go. I never thought with all the hard work that I would gain a pound, I thought I would stay the same or lose some in the first week at least. I will continue.... emoticon
