New Year's Resolution!

Finally I have come up with my New Year's Resolution. Yes, I am a resolution maker but I am one that sticks to it until it's finished. I'm very goal oriented and can't stand not meeting my goals - yep, I'm crazy. haha

So my goals for 2010:
1. Go from my current weight to 110. By December 31, 2010 I will weigh at most 110! Has a ring to it doesn't it!
2. Run 10K distance - yep, I'm embracing the 2010 - 10 effect
3. At least 10 minutes of yoga/stretches every day.
4. Spend at least 10 minutes to myself as "me time"
5. Make at least ten healthy meals in a week
6. Purchase at least ten different vegetables/fruits each week
7. Make at least ten new recipes this year that are healthy
8. Report on my current position at least every ten days
9. Run at least ten miles each week!
10. Stick to my ten 2010 Resolutions!

Shredding through the pain...

ouch ouch ouch... that is what you would hear if you walked past our house. The other day I started 30 Day Shred again. I went through the program last year and was really happy with it. I got hit by the running bug and started to skip the DVD and go outdoors and run my heart out. I love running but seriously it's out outdoors and it's hard to run on snow laden roads that are icy! I like both of my legs thank you very much. k/d Although it would be nice to get out there and try out the new moisture-wicking winter clothes that I got for Christmas.

So I did one video and now I'm whining, yes I admit to it. My poor, dear husband has the hardest job in the world since I do not deal well with pain. Thankfully I made the time to get online and read some other blogs. Now I have the motivation once again to work through my pain and start shredding again tonight. Love the pain, I'm embracing the pain... Well, that is my intention for today at least.

    Gotta tell you.. I've been shredding now for 14 days... (5 days on, 1 off, 5 days on, 8 days off... had an accident, and hurt my shoulder.. no shredding :-( , then back on for 4 days.) And I am still running.. I am still doing my 40 to 60 minutes of cardio a day, plus the shredding. Today is the first day that my legs are sore! I'm on D4L2.. and I did elliptical and spinning to have 60 minutes of cardio... My quads are sore.. and so is my butt!!

Do both! It makes you stronger, and the running helps shake out the soreness!

    Ha! That is awesome. I am whiney when I'm sore too and I sleep horribly which makes me cranky. Lets just say my husband doesn't like it either... Ha! but it is all worth it in the end! Happy Wednesday!

Welcome Back Everyone! It has been about 2 weeks since I have been back in the loving hands of sparkpeople. I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season and is more pumped to kick some of that fat goodbye and say hello to those wonderfully healthy bodies! I know I am!

Normally I have things all planned out before the New Year's Ball drops however this year I have to think really hard on what I want to accomplish. I have taken a few days and can't quite decided just as of yet. I take New Year's Resolutions very seriously so I plan on making the best of my determination. One thing is for sure, I plan on getting out there and exercising as much as possible, along with eating even less processed foods to assure the healthiest body that I can recreate! It takes a little planning to make everything from scratch however after the holiday season of eating at others' houses - I am determined to say goodbye to the unhealthy foods and make my body what God intended it to look and feel like.

New Year's Resolution, along with complete 2010 Weight Loss and Exercise Goals to come soon. What has everyone else planned for 2010? I's love to hear your exciting plans! Let's make 2010 the best year together! emoticon emoticon

  


Running in the snow?

Yesterday my husband and I were feeling a little bit over excited about running and we felt that it was time to get out of the house and run. There have been a few people that have ran past our house, so we felt that it might be warm enough to get out there too. Little did I think about watching to see if the people that ran past our house actually came back through on the way back...

We bundled up and got all cozy in our winter running clothes. The first 1/4 mile was good, then the wind started and the snow got a little more slippery on the sidewalks where we run. Crazy, yes we are! I have seen photos of those people that run marathan lengths in the freezing weather but now I want to introduce them to the wonderful world of Freudian! Hello, comfy couch calling you! Seriously though, it was really cold and I couldn't feel my toes by 1/2 mile point. Then my eyes started to water and my freeze started to become a nice skating rink.

So, we learned our lesson and to stay indoors for the winter. I'm sure we will have episodes of wanting to go out again however I'm trying to post so that I remember how cold it actually was trying to run outdoors.

Now I must cater to ear ache once again - hmm running in the snow, can it be fun?

    Craziness! They don't plow our street so it never even crossed my mind to go for a run! And the gym was closed all weekend. (Ugh). Snow shoveling was my workout! I tried to run before in the cold and I was just miserable. I wasn't dressed very well for it and I have better cold gear now but its still not enjoyable for me!

Finally Back

Wow! It has been such a long time since I have submitted to a rambling here for everyone to read. Last week was my husband and my birthday, it was a delightful time. Imagine four days off from work with the hubster! The perfect gift! We had such a lovely time together and I was enjoying every moment of it.

I am proud to announce that I made our birthday cakes (yes, two) this year ago. Instead of white flour cakes I chose to go another route and made orange sponge cake that was low-fat and low-calorie! It was the most amazing taste and the smell in the house made for a perfect setting in our house. I incorporated my recipe with a recipe from Japan. Basically I took one round homemade orange sponge cake and split it in half. Then I took a large circle cookie cutter and made two double layer birthday cakes from the cutouts. Inside the layers was a little light whipped cream and banana slices! Then on top were strawberries and oranges! It was so tasty!!!

Although I feel bad about not tracking food properly for the last four days, I am happy that the two of us got to make better choices without being too strict. For instance when we ate out (since we were traveling around a little), we ordered meals without the condiments and with a side of salad instead of unhealthy choices. You might be surprised how many calories just a small fry or small drink contains, and don't get me started on the condiments on a simple "healthy sandwich".

All in all, I'm thrilled of our accomplishments during the last four days. We got out to the gym to run four miles and we did it! My husband of course could manage more however I was thankful to hit the four mile marker and not be tired at all! I could have gone longer however our gym is small and people were waiting for the treadmill. That has to be one of the hardest parts about our little gym, too many people and not enough machines. At least it is free with our community membership fees that we pay.

Now I just have to increase my motivation to get to the gym and start losing weight again. I think I hit another plateau so I have to work through it again - another two or three months and I might be out of it. Here's hoping for it to not take that long again!
