sluggishly trudging back to spark

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

so, went on a trip in August and was so happy. Stayed on track and even lost weight!! came back to a broken computer.... left for a few weeks and for some reason, couldn't be bothered with resetting my forgotten password on spark. trying to see through the cloudy haze of fast food/junk food vision I've developed since slowly slipping alll the way back into my old habits... I realized I better get back on here for a little help....

thanks guys! MJ. I am glad I am back in time to cheer you on! How are you doing with your Sparkathon? I have seen it is still on! Will your sister be able to do that with you? I will have to make time to find the info on it. I am in Dallas this Sat but I want to come out for your sparkathon. Haven't walked since Sept. I will be able to do a few miles though. Thanks for the positive nudge Patsy!!!

So happy to see you again! One good thing about slipping into old habits - You can slip right back out of them! The trick is to "stick" once you have "slipped" in the right direction!

What the beep?

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

grrr, what the poop? Made the rookie mistake of weighing myself on a day that wasn't my weekly day. Yuck. two lbs more than last time. realizing my mistake but unable to erase the ugly number from my memory.... dove into four pieces of yummy cinnamon raisin bread.... ugh, dang it! that can't be good..... oh, sooooooo not logging THAT in the food log! followed by wasted time in the abyss of the internet instead of exercising AAAACK!!!!! lol.
so, how has your day been!!
whooo, thankfully, I have spark to cling to when I jump off the crazy wheel and get back on the wagon with a good, heartfelt, anxiety easing blog vent!!! yay!!! so.... sigh and move on to realize that it was only four pieces of bread, not four chunks of poisonous rat trap bait so I actually can move on and live through this event. And, it is still early and i have a super support network so all my kids and hubby will rally and do something active with me if i just ask! yay!! Lucky me to have that help! also, I have lots of yummy produce that I bought yesterday and a vegan daughter that loves to have cooking adventures with me and we can find lots of super delicious foods with barely any calories and lots of healthy energy to even out my calorie count for the day! yay! I am so lucky and for the first time today, I get why journalising and blogging is helpful! two paragraphs to get from-Oh My God! I am a dieting failure...... blah, blah, blah to yay me!!!
THANK YOU SPARK!!!

I agree with the others....track it. Even if you don't, your body knows you ate it but seeing it in black and white can be very educational and as Tamara said, the bread may not come out that bad nutritionally. There is nothing to be ashamed of. It happens.

I have to say I got a kick out of reading your blog. I don't think I've ever seen anyone go so quickly from 'what the poop" to 'yay me" before. You must be a hoot to be around emoticon

I jumped off the wagon a week ago and I'm almost back where I was. I've lost 65 pounds todate and have to keep my goals in sight. But I binged for almost 5 days and had severe indigestion, and felt like giving up. So your right on to focus back on Spark People, and focus on next steps.

I agree with everything TaMara said. And how cool is it that you have a vegan daughter? The opportunities to find healthy meals you can both enjoy are abundant! I'm not at all a vegan but I am definitely working to make my diet more plant based than it is. If you come up with some awesome main dish recipes from your adventures together be sure to post them for us!

Hey hon. We've all had days like that.

I agree tho, you need to put it on your tracker. Keep yourself accountable, if only to yourself. Do a little bit more activity tonight, maybe have a lighter dinner. You can do it! *HUGS*

Good thinking that it's just 4 pieces of bread and no, it's not going to kill you! But you do need to be accountable and put those four pieces of bread in your tracker. You ate them, so not entering them is just lying to yourself and that's not healthy. Nor is it helping you in any way. You might even be surprised and see that those 4 pieces of bread aren't even that bad! Seeing that information will help you make smarter decisions in the future until you get to the point where you don't need to emotionally eat! And remember, your weight can fluctuate from day to day based on water retention so don't let it get you down. Be sure you weigh in at the same time, on the same day, in the same place to get the most accurate results! Good Luck!

Hope the day at Sea World was a blast and you aren't too burned! Good luck with that scale...but as others have said there are more victories to be gained with your healthy journey than just a number on that thing. Great idea is to do your measurements at the beginning of each month...you will astound yourself at the end of a good month with the progress you see there!

I agree, sometimes - OFTEN - the non scale victories are an even better indicator of how you're doing! Keep up the good work!

Positive! Look for and cherish those non-scale victories, too. More energy, more positive outlook, proud of yourself for taking care of you. Being brave enough to post a blog!

It's nice when the scale moves, but just remember that there are lots of changes going on in your body & the scale isn't king. I am sending positive thoughts your way & hope you have a great day!

pointless blogging

Friday, June 29, 2012

Just thought I would blog for a minute. Trying to do all the parts and so many times I see journal writing as a recommendation. Still have to work on that water but I am drinking a few glasses each day which is an improvement. Doing some kind of exercise each day but I still haven't worked up the courage to go to a Zumba class. Love Zumba but I keep chickening out right before the class. :-( Aggravating thing about anxiety disorder is knowing in your head, it will be fine... meanwhile your chest is punding and your breath is short and your body is freaking out..... grrrr. baby steps. I purchased some dance games to do with my kids so we can all make some progress and have some fun together.

I had the same problem. Can get panic attacks from time to time but I finally just MADE myself go to a Zumba class. I stood in the very back, close to the door. Always remember you can leave whenever you want to. That was 2 months ago and I go now almost everyday. It looks more intimidating than it really is.

You can also do the class at whatever energy level you choose. Just because the instructor has "happy feet" you don't have to do that. My suggestion is to watch a person up front that knows the routine pretty well and follow them, they usually do it a much slower pace.

At least try it out. You can leave whenever you want, but don't miss the opportunity to do something you may love!!!

Let me know when you make it to a class!!! Thinking of you.

I have a panic disorder too, its no fun. I can't get myself to take any classes...its an ordeal to just go to the gym. I usually leave once I get to the parking lot.

I had the Zumba DVD but Dance Central is a much better workout in my opinion!
