Trying to get back on track...

Wednesday, March 05, 2008

Well, I had great plans (as LeslieP and LP5773 were well aware) to try and run then go to the spin class at Hickam...but when I got off work I got a call from the hubby requesting that I come home...he wasn't feeling well and wanted some company. At first I was a little upset, but figured that sometimes we don't get to spend a lot of time together with our work schedule and I've been asking for ways to show that I love him...so I headed home and brought him some food. (McDonald's--and I ate HALF his french fries!). Anyway...I got home and then tried to run on the treadmill--talk about sucky! Couldn't even do my 1.5mi--and I dunno why?! Maybe sickness, maybe ran yesterday, maybe the incline, maybe I just hate the treadmill that much (I wasn't looking at anything exciting).
So here I am. I did take pictures last night, I'm copying someone else's idea of taking new pics every 28 days...so I've marked the days in my calendar and when I get home I'll post them. It's kinda scary! Those are intense pics! But...maybe it'll inspire me to really work out, to take it seriously, and to STICK with this lifestyle change.
I also took some measurements last night, weird on some of them. Seemingly lost some inches on some places, but I got confused on my waist measurement (I thought I did PT style, but when I measured, it was like adding 2 inches to what it was before or something...so I decided to stick with belly button). Anyway...I'll keep that up weekly...
Thankfully we had PT this morning (always a good workout, and pushups!) and hopefully this afternoon I can hit the beach and swim 800m to get ready for the Ft DeRussy biathlon this weekend (short distance 2.5k run 500m swim). Hoping to beat my time from last year but we'll see since I haven't been training at all!
But...regardless of it all-God is still in control, and He still rocks...and He is still amazing.
Have an awesome Wednesday everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, a biathlon!! That is so awesome!! That is something I would like to do, but I'm just scared to go into the ocean!!! hehe!! :) Well like I said I will probably see you next week in spin I hope since I am busy all this week!! I like that picture idea as well. I think I will do it too! What a great idea for visual motivation! Okay, well have a good weekend and keep up the good work!! ps. sometimes you have to have someone help you to do your measurements to make sure the tape is straight, that may be why you added two inches.

Hubbys are a little whimpy when they're sick... mine is under the weather too. I know you're a little off kilter, but 1/2 a missed work out and 1/2 an order of fries won't make or break you, but *really* sweet of you to go spend time with hubby which is priceless in the long run. Tomorrow is another day to get right back on track with the food & exercise. =o) Take care of yourself, too, I hear that flu going around is REALLY bad. Aloha!

Bleh to sickness

Monday, March 03, 2008

I started to feel the sinus headaches last week, leading up to post nasal drip sore throat on Friday, and then the final kablam with Sunday morning coughing waking me up at 0230.
Needless to say after Mucinex and some antibiotics...and a DRs note to stay home today...I'm not sure how the cardio's going to go. Fortunately for me, I'm not super hungry when I'm sick...
I might head out to Kapiolani for a walk around...or I'll try running (We'll see how it goes). This means my Monday "cardio kickboxing" routine is out...hopefully tomorrow I'm feeling better--and can handle that spin class. :)

Scheduling Work Out Time

Friday, February 29, 2008

Well, since I'm back from TDY, and will actually be meeting with the nutritionist on a regular basis (except she goes TDY next week--so appointment today)--I'm looking forward to setting a schedule for me to work out.
Here's what I've got so far:
Mon- Cardio Kickboxing Class after work on base
Tues-Timed 1.5 mi run, Spin Class on base
Wed-Ultimate Frisbee PT, Swimming at the BEACH!
Thurs-30 min run/intervals, Spin class on base
Fri-Swimming
Sat/Sun-30 min run/intervals

Hopefully with that and watching my calories, as well as working in some calisthenics and getting into the gym...will get me less weight and more toned!

Unfortunately I'll start shift work in a couple weeks...so I'll have to re-evaluate my schedule to see how and when I'll work in working out...but if anyone wants to join me--lemme know!

Good luck with your workout plan. I do shift work and it's essential fo rme to have one day off from working out per work. I schedule it on a day that I'm also off work too. I sleep about 7 hours between 12.5 hr shifts and workout still. It works for me but it doesn't work for everyone, let me know once you start the shift work if you need examples.
