I had a good day yesterday, too. Went to the food bank and they had a lot of fresh veggies---monster mushrooms, tubs of the good salad mix, new potatoes, red onions and little tiny oranges. I am going to chop and cook the mushrooms and freeze them or they will go to waste. Tomorrow is the Sunday potluck so will take down a big bowl of the salad mix and some vinaigrette, made with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
There was a meat sale so I got a family size package of assorted pork cuts for $1.89 a pound and family size package of chicken legs for .89 a pound. I wrapped the pork in individual servings and popped them in the freezer. Today I will bake half the chicken legs and freeze the rest. I have a lot of good foods here so that makes me happy.
I found a new beauty shop next to the food bank so I had her cut my hair. I was feeling so shaggy, I couldn't stand it anymore. I was trying to let it grow out. She did a 'box cut' which is part off sections of hair and cut it straight across which makes kind of a shaggy cut, left it a little longer at the nape. I like it and can curl it or not. Mostly I like to wash it and blow dry it a little then run my fingers through to fluff it up and am good to go. My hair is getting thinner as I age.
Gas prices are going up everyday for about the last three weeks. I topped off my tank yesterday and it was $25 for 6.347 gallons, $1.939 a gallon. Tacoma went to $4 a gallon. Predictions are $5 a gallon shortly. This is insane.
The tornadoes hitting the Midwest are so terrifying and I feel so bad for all those who have lost their homes and everything. The death toll will rise today as they dig through the debris. Makes a person think. But there is really nothing to do about it as the funnel is rushing towards the towns. Trying to outrun them is not an option a lot of the times.
Temperatures are rising and it will be absolutely balmy today with a high in the mid-50's. I got my light bill the other day and it was only $26 for last month.
