$13.00 Bookshelf

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

After much trial and error, putting together, taking apart, two blood blisters and a bruised hand from using it for a hammer, the bookshelf was put together. Too bad I didn't have an 8 year old to help me read the instructions because they were sure confusing! LOL So I finally get it assembled, turn it right side and I had put the sides on upside down so that the finished ends were on the floor. Oh well, it works. I just bought a new black marker and stained the wood so unless I point out my mistake, no one will notice unless they really inspect it. Am thinking about getting another one while they are on sale through next Saturday. They are made from particle board but will work for what I need to use them for. They will hold about a hundred pounds without collapsing.

I bought a cordless two set phone so got that programmed this morning so I will donate my old corded phones. They take up too much room and I don't like being tied to the cord, especially when my long-winded friend calls me.

Our weather continues to be cooler than normal. So far this year we have had 78 minutes of summer, which means temperatures over 80. That is fine with me because I like it around 70. I can't imagine dealing with the extreme heat that is happening across the country. I hope everyone is drinking their water and staying hydrated.

yes the direction are tricky..next time you'll know how and sometimes if the item goes on sale a week or two later they will refund the difference...try putting some elmers glue in the holes this will make it a little strong and it does help...the weather here is crazy.hot and the humidity was so-so. this weekend it is supposed to be in the ninety's..today was actually the semi-coolest day so far.
hope you stay warm and i am glad it is not too hot for you.

Brenda, I need an inexpensive bookcase for my classroom. I bought some $15 ones at Walmart last year and Dave put them together. I was thinking the other day that since I don't have my 'handyman' around any more that I'd have to get one of my boys to do it if I bought one. Too bad you don't live closer, lol. Good for you, doing it yourself. Even Dave has put the wrong ends together before---he never read directions!

We've had extreme summer since early May. I'll trade temps with you for a few days.

Busy Saturday

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Steve came to town today and picked up six boxes of things for the up-coming auction. We don't know for sure when it will be yet because they have to wait until they get enough stuff to hold one. But anyway, it is out of here and now I can start re-arranging the furniture in the living room.

My friends stopped by to help me with a small computer problem and I sent them home with a set of TV trays that I don't need anymore, nor do I have room for them. I am very pleased how my apartment is coming along. Walmart has a bookshelf on sale for just under $13 so I will go look at the sample and see how strong it is. I just want to put sewing baskets and supplies on it. First I have to measure to see what size will fit.

Have a good weekend.

It's nice to get things cleared out and put away. Wish I was there to see your apartment. Maybe you'll figure out the photos one day.

My Old Apartment is Rented

Saturday, July 16, 2011

A new tenant moved into my apartment today so now I am off the hook for paying the rent. The management company is going to try to make me pay the rent for the last month and a half it was vacant because I broke my lease. I am not going to worry about it because I can't pay it anyway on my income. They can't take my Social Security.

It has been cloudy all day with a few rain showers. I would rather have this kind of weather than the excessive heat across the country.

I hope you all have a great weekend and are drinking your water.

Maybe they will let it slide now that they have a new tenant. I didn't realize in the subsidized rentals that they did things like that.

Rain, Lots of Rain Today

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Heavy rain started mid-mornng and I guess it will keep up all day. Thunder storms are predicted for this afternoon. Now I will find out how good Tom sealed my windshield. LOL I keep Dri-Z-Air granules n the passenger side floor and the moisture is slowly dissapating. The insulation got wet from all the water leaking in.

Here it is the middle of July and I have a fleece jacket on inside my apartment because I have the living room window open and got chilly. I do like the fresh smell of the rain, tho.

I am maintaining my weight and have lost at least three inches and am pleased to see that my muffin tops are basically gone. I hate seeing the ugly bulges around my middle.

I hope those who are suffering with the heat wave are staying hydrated. One of the newscasters yesterday said people need to stay hydrated in the extreme heat by drinking two 16 oz bottles every hour. Remember that caffein dehydrates your body.

Here in Florida we have finally been getting some rain, maybe an hour a day for the last few days. It's a hot rain, no coats required here.

Saturday

Saturday, July 09, 2011

Our warm weather is on the way back after a few days of cooler temps. There has been dark, angry looking clouds that past couple evenings but no rain.

I've been busy here, still sorting through boxes and am almost finished plus I have a lot more room. Yesterday I flattened most of the boxes stashed behind the couch in the living room and took them downstairs and put them by the trash room for the yard man to dispose of. There's a four boxes of stuff to go to the next auction so I am making a lot of progress.
