Devastated Washington State & How lives have changed (mine included)

Sunday, March 30, 2014

This blog doesn't have much to do with Sparking except for the emotional part of me is having a hard time staying mindful to my program.
For those of you who don't know Washington State had a National disaster a week ago today there was a HUGE mudslide in a small town called Oso,Wa. it took out the whole town leveled 49 home completely and buried over 70 people alive it is so heart breaking..
My DH is one of those rescue/recovery men working there to do what they can for this small town & the people.
I finally got to talk to DH this morning for the first time in 5 days and its so sad to hear the grief and emotion in his voice,,they are just exhausted and it really is mentally challenging but DH doesn't complain he has told them he will stay until things are stable and they stop the recovery process. (This town is app 350 miles from Vancouver Washington where we live and they have very limited phone service now) So I sit by my phone waiting to not miss a call from him emoticon .
I pray these families will be able to find strength in God to heal and that the workers can find as many of those loved ones as possible.
The President has sent the National guard in from 5 other states and Fema.
DH told me that the pictures on the news don't begin to show the devastation these people have endured.
Although there is nothing I can do but sit and worry & pray I do have to take care of myself and thought it might be a good time to pull myself together and see what I can do for my health.
It sure makes me think how small some problems can really be when you see tragedys like this..Take care all friends emoticon emoticon

Brenda, It is going to be hard, but I know you will keep the home fires burning for Trace. I will pray for the safety of all of the workers and volunteers. You are a strong person and you will get through this.

I agree with Dee that using the time to focus on your health will make him proud and will help you get through this. Love you girl! emoticon Stay strong. emoticon

Your hubby is A HERO! I felt so sorry as we heard the story unfold on tv, and thought of you and your family. I worried about you both, but also remember when we lived in AR and tornandos and such happened but we were not immediately effected. So I waited, and so glad you wrote a BLOG!

All those familes, all the members of the town, I have prayed for, and as of today...I will pray with a more personal thought about everyone!

Be brave, Trace IS A HERO, so be as strong as you can.....for HIM!

Love, and Hugs,

emoticon Sometimes we forget about the people at home while the heroes are rushing to aide those affected by tragedies. Thank you for sharing your DH with the world. Prayers to keep him safe and hopefully he'll be back with you very soon.

Using the time to create a healthy program for yourself and keeping the focus on positive changes would make your DH proud and happy!

Happy New Year Blog...

Thursday, January 02, 2014

I have decided that I am not making resolutions this year I have been on Spark People for almost 4 years and haven't had much success (my own fault & weakness of course)but at the same time I am not giving up I need to get real this year and come to terms that the weight has to come off for health reasons..... I have a couple things lined up in my plans to get healthy and am just hoping to stay focused & get results.... I had thoughts of closing my account and just tracking on paper but then there are the friends that I have made on here(All of you) that make me want to stay here and be as much support as I can...So whatever your New Years Resolutions are I hope that we will all have the strength to achieve them...Big Hugs & Love to all of you emoticon emoticon

I'm so happy that you've decided not to close your account. I look forward to hearing about your adventures and your journey.

I've set goals for myself - both short-term and long-term. They make a lot more sense to me than (I will ... or I won't ... ). It gives me responsibility for my actions and decisions, but also allows me the flexibility to enjoy and unanticipated event without feeling guilty or beating myself up.

Brenda, I have not made any New Year resolutions, but I DO make DAILY ones! Every day I look at my goal board and think of all the things I want to be able to do and I resolve to do my best each morning to take care of ME and take the steps to make it happen.

I know we BOTH will make huge strides this year. Come on. Let's DO IT! We have places to go and things to do! emoticon - Connie

I am so glad you are not "closing out!" Another of my lines, "DO NOT CLOSE THAT DOOR (meaning a relationship) TOO TIGHTLY, LEAVE IT AJAR, SO YOU CAN ALWAYS WALK THROUGH IT AGAIN!"

Now, I know I am talking relationships, but think of SP as a relationship! A relationship with YOU! Ways that you can still manage to follow up with, getting inspiration, motivation, and some times okay make that LOTS of times, "hearing from SPFriends with just the thing we needed that day, moment." So many times I have read an "Article, BLOG, or Thread" and said WOW, that is just what I needed. So now you see what I am getting at.

I will love you, no matter HOW, WHAT, or WHERE you are....this is a fact! I also know, another fact, of several people that feel the same way I do! So do not make resolutions, I don't like making them either. I love TADZIO's (yup, I know you too LOL) comment...

"I think instead of "big" promises or resolutions I'm better off looking at it as "continuing" on a healthy trek!"

Love ya, and great BIG Hugs!

if I have any resolutions they really are continued items for the last several years.

I've been on Sparkpeople (active) since the fall of 2007.

I think instead of "big" promises or resolutions I'm better off looking at it as "continuing" on a healthy trek!

Happy & Unforgettable Days I got to meet a SPECIAL Sparkfriend/family!/Pictures

Thursday, December 05, 2013

A few of you know I was on a journey the week before Thanksgiving to meet one of my Dearest Sparkfriends (FLPALM) aka Fran.
We met on Sparkpeople about 3 yrs ago and she has been such an inspiration/motivation to follow & a great friend!
We live 3,000 miles apart her East Coast me on the West Coast.
Her & her DH made plans to visit Oregon as it was on their bucket list, they love to travel and have fun!
Fran had sent me an email last June with their traveling plans and I was so excited at the thought of meeting this wonderful Sparkfriend who had became Spark/family to me so I told them about the Oregon Coast that we were planning on going there and could make it on Nov 22nd when they would be there(its about 3 hours from us) and the same drive for them from PDX (Portland airport) as I am on the Oregon/Washington border.
DH & I first met them at Chinook winds casino resort Friday morning and that was where I got my first BIG hug from the Sweetest lady ever and met her DH Paul he is as wonderful as her!
Fran's DH (Paul) & my DH (Trace) hit it off well these men were 2 of a kind (well with the exception of Fran's DH Paul he has a tremendous sense of humor which just made everything flow so smoothly.... at first I was kind of worried because Trace is not an easy person to get to know but him & Paul started talking and Fran & I were talking eager to know about each other, and Trace turns and says I like this guy ALOT him & I are gonna be friends!
We then parted and agreed to meet an hour later at Mo's for lunch we had a great lunch (Long lunch was absolutely wonderful!) and Fran shared her ways to track her food while on the road & some pictures of will see her secret blue notebook below (hehehe)but only the outside emoticon she really has her act together she is so true to her words "Making small changes that you can live with forever".
Fran & Paul are seriously wonderful friends I told her I really believe in that saying "A friend is a stranger that you just haven't met yet".
Now I don't go around friending every stranger I meet its like you just know when someone is special and there is something there & you trust your instincts to want to meet.
At some point in your life every friend you have is someone you never knew until you developed a bond and became friends.
When we were leaving Mo's for lunch outside her DH Paul told me to never give up that I looked fine and if I let stress and bad feelings about myself happen & if I don't believe in myself it will only hurt my progress and that I can Do it! Just to be patient and never give up!
He truly is Fran's number #1 fan he supports her 100% and these two have a love that shines like no other they are as down to earth and real as you could ever imagine!
We decided that we would meet the next morning at McDonald's for breakfast on there way back to driving to PDX so we met at 8:30 am and had breakfast and got a couple hour visit in before they hit the road.
I know its a repeat on words but Fran & Paul we want you to know Trace & I think the world of you two and we are going to take you up on your invite to stay with you in Vegas in your time share someday and as soon as Trace retires if not before we will visit Massachusetts and Thank you for welcoming us to your home to stay we feel honored that you two felt as comfortable as we did...Below are a few pictures I did leave out the one where Fran kissed me emoticon and her arm exercises at he casino...Lol.
Fran & I at Mo's for lunch

Fran & Paul (with Fran's lil blue book) emoticon

And this next picture Fran's DH Paul said this is "The spark Studs"...Lol...Paul on left & Trace on the right

Next morning pictures at McDonalds...Fran & I standing by our truck

Fran & Paul sporting the Daytona...Lol..and they look good!

You can just see what a fun loving couple they are and their zest for life...
And I enjoyed EVERYTHING they shared with us about them & how they met....So Cool!
This by far was my most memorable & happy time on the Oregon Coast.

Now on a side note heading home along the coast we decided to stop at my Dads house and stay a night as I hadn't seen him for over a year (I am Daddy's Baby) & he was soooo excited and happy to see me/us he didn't want to let us leave the next was hard to go I love him so much...we got home and the next week he sent me a flyer of a house for sale right next door to him emoticon he loves all 4 of his kids so much and is the BEST Dad Ever!
A picture of Dad & I below I love him so much emoticon

What a fabulous update! emoticon I am so glad everything went so smoothly and that you all hit it off instantly - even the Spark Studs!!! emoticon Trace cracks me up. You guys all look like you are having a blast hamming it up for the camera. Life is short. I am so happy you are grabbing all the fun and great times that you can. You sure needed a break from the stress and heartache you've been through recently. It was great that you got to see your Dad too. A year is to long to wait to visit. You tell Trace that I said he needs to take you to see your Dad at least TWO times every year!

P.S. I am very nosy what is in Fran's blue book! The secret to her weight loss success?

And you ARE a regular Princess Bunny! My hubby does not spoil me like that. I have to do it myself. emoticon

I have been a cookin' fool today. I am putting up a lot of stuff in the freezer. That way I can pull out something different every day for my lunch. This is gonna be our year Brenda.

I recommend you hop your BUNNY A$$ on over to this team for some fun and support.
