This blog doesn't have much to do with Sparking except for the emotional part of me is having a hard time staying mindful to my program.
For those of you who don't know Washington State had a National disaster a week ago today there was a HUGE mudslide in a small town called Oso,Wa. it took out the whole town leveled 49 home completely and buried over 70 people alive it is so heart breaking..
My DH is one of those rescue/recovery men working there to do what they can for this small town & the people.
I finally got to talk to DH this morning for the first time in 5 days and its so sad to hear the grief and emotion in his voice,,they are just exhausted and it really is mentally challenging but DH doesn't complain he has told them he will stay until things are stable and they stop the recovery process. (This town is app 350 miles from Vancouver Washington where we live and they have very limited phone service now) So I sit by my phone waiting to not miss a call from him .
I pray these families will be able to find strength in God to heal and that the workers can find as many of those loved ones as possible.
The President has sent the National guard in from 5 other states and Fema.
DH told me that the pictures on the news don't begin to show the devastation these people have endured.
Although there is nothing I can do but sit and worry & pray I do have to take care of myself and thought it might be a good time to pull myself together and see what I can do for my health.
It sure makes me think how small some problems can really be when you see tragedys like this..Take care all friends
I have decided that I am not making resolutions this year I have been on Spark People for almost 4 years and haven't had much success (my own fault & weakness of course)but at the same time I am not giving up I need to get real this year and come to terms that the weight has to come off for health reasons..... I have a couple things lined up in my plans to get healthy and am just hoping to stay focused & get results.... I had thoughts of closing my account and just tracking on paper but then there are the friends that I have made on here(All of you) that make me want to stay here and be as much support as I can...So whatever your New Years Resolutions are I hope that we will all have the strength to achieve them...Big Hugs & Love to all of you
A few of you know I was on a journey the week before Thanksgiving to meet one of my Dearest Sparkfriends (FLPALM) aka Fran.
We met on Sparkpeople about 3 yrs ago and she has been such an inspiration/motivation to follow & a great friend!
We live 3,000 miles apart her East Coast me on the West Coast.
Her & her DH made plans to visit Oregon as it was on their bucket list, they love to travel and have fun!
Fran had sent me an email last June with their traveling plans and I was so excited at the thought of meeting this wonderful Sparkfriend who had became Spark/family to me so I told them about the Oregon Coast that we were planning on going there and could make it on Nov 22nd when they would be there(its about 3 hours from us) and the same drive for them from PDX (Portland airport) as I am on the Oregon/Washington border.
DH & I first met them at Chinook winds casino resort Friday morning and that was where I got my first BIG hug from the Sweetest lady ever and met her DH Paul he is as wonderful as her!
Fran's DH (Paul) & my DH (Trace) hit it off well these men were 2 of a kind (well with the exception of Fran's DH Paul he has a tremendous sense of humor which just made everything flow so smoothly.... at first I was kind of worried because Trace is not an easy person to get to know but him & Paul started talking and Fran & I were talking eager to know about each other, and Trace turns and says I like this guy ALOT him & I are gonna be friends!
We then parted and agreed to meet an hour later at Mo's for lunch we had a great lunch (Long lunch was absolutely wonderful!) and Fran shared her ways to track her food while on the road & some pictures of her....you will see her secret blue notebook below (hehehe)but only the outside she really has her act together she is so true to her words "Making small changes that you can live with forever".
Fran & Paul are seriously wonderful friends I told her I really believe in that saying "A friend is a stranger that you just haven't met yet".
Now I don't go around friending every stranger I meet its like you just know when someone is special and there is something there & you trust your instincts to want to meet.
At some point in your life every friend you have is someone you never knew until you developed a bond and became friends.
When we were leaving Mo's for lunch outside her DH Paul told me to never give up that I looked fine and if I let stress and bad feelings about myself happen & if I don't believe in myself it will only hurt my progress and that I can Do it! Just to be patient and never give up!
He truly is Fran's number #1 fan he supports her 100% and these two have a love that shines like no other they are as down to earth and real as you could ever imagine!
We decided that we would meet the next morning at McDonald's for breakfast on there way back to driving to PDX so we met at 8:30 am and had breakfast and got a couple hour visit in before they hit the road.
I know its a repeat on words but Fran & Paul we want you to know Trace & I think the world of you two and we are going to take you up on your invite to stay with you in Vegas in your time share someday and as soon as Trace retires if not before we will visit Massachusetts and Thank you for welcoming us to your home to stay we feel honored that you two felt as comfortable as we did...Below are a few pictures I did leave out the one where Fran kissed me and her arm exercises at he casino...Lol.
