28 Day Bootcamp ~ Day 3

Ok, today was an upper body workout. I hate upper body workouts because they always involve things like pushups. And my new dreaded exercise, the triceps dip. I cant do pushups. I tried anyway and did what I could. I am sure my form was bad, but I didnt give up! Then came the triceps dip....who thought of that?? I'd love to give them a smack to the back of the head. I didnt give up though...I kept trying it. I dont think it's a good exercise for me right now though. I pulled a muscle in my back a couple of weeks ago and this one made it start aching again. Not bad, but I think I'll skip it and do something else next time.

My eating is still not under control. I had a good breakfast this morning, but I blew it at lunch. I'll do better at dinner tonight though. No use screwing up the whole day, right? I think it's because I am so tired an sore that I am eating poorly. Not an excuse, just trying to look at my mentality while I am doing it. I know I eat more when tired and I know that I eat for comfort. I need to find something else for comfort and maybe take a nap instead of stuffing my face. Maybe I'll try that.

Good news....I went to the dentist yesterday and all my teeth are doing great! No cavities at all. Gums looks good! Apparently my dentist has been right for the last 10 years and flossing really does help. Who knew? I do have a couple of old fillings that need replacing, but they are doing fine for now.

Today I went to the eye doc. I have been getting headaches at the computer lately. I noticed it's harder to focus on things that are close up. It's all a part of getting more mature...yeah...mature. She said physically, my eyes look good, so that's great news. She also said to go up a level on my reading glasses and up 2 levels on my glasses for stitching. I forgot to take my old glasses in with me, so we had a hard time with one of the tests and since I drove myself in, she didnt want to dilate my eyes. So, I mentioned my husband was going in on Saturday so she's fitting me in with his appointment to do the test with my glasses and the dilating! Awesome!

No doc appointments tomorrow...but Friday is my annual Boobie check. Let's hope that one turns out just as well. Then the week after, I am getting my yearly physical. I already did my bloodwork and everything came out good. So, by the end of next week I will have been completely checked over by all my docs. And next year I can remember to schedule all the appointments all at once again so I dont forget anything!

28 Day Bootcamp ~ Day 2

Well, I got up and did the Day 2 video. I am crunched for time this week, so I decided to do my cardio along with my dentist appointment. I am not talking about being so scared that my heartrate goes up at the dentist! I am going to walk to my morning appointment. My dentist is 3/4 of a mile away. So I'll walk there and walk back, and that should be about 30 minutes of cardio give or take a bit. I'll time it to make sure.

My thighs are so sore from yesterday's 10 minute video and I am sure they'll be sore from todays again since it was a lower body workout. I cant believe I let myself go so badly!! UGH.

I also went way over my calories and fats and carbs and everything bad yesterday. I am feeling it today. I need to drink plenty of water and wash out all the sodium from yesterday. I need to work out an Arby's meal I can have that wont break the calorie bank. I like Subway, but I am getting sick of them. I think I'll start by leaving any and all cheese off the sandwiches, going easy on the horsey sauce, and not order fries at all. I need to look into their salads and see what they have for a nice vegie side.

Tonight I am cooking at home. I already have it planned out. Going to make a nice whole wheat pasta dish with lots of thin sliced summer and zuchini, add some garlic, olive oil and lemon and call it dinner! I'll probably make another side of whatever vegie is on sale. My family had their annual "Baconfest" on Sunday. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds. My husband over did it and needs to clean out his system a bit.

Ok, gotta run. The shower is calling. I have to leave for the dentist in less than an hour to make sure I get my cardio in today!

Today...better than yesterday, not as good as tomorrow!

    WOW... the bootcamp... I've wanted to sign up for it but just really haven't had the guts... Good luck and hang in there.

Check out Arbys online, the salads have to be better than any of the sandwiches. I know the southwest salad at mcdonalds is less than 500 cal and I can't eat the whole thing... SO it's out there just check it out.

28 Day Bootcamp Challenge ~ day 1

Not so I can see some physical results in 4 weeks, but because I am hoping to get consistent with my exercise again. And by "consistent" I mean, actually start working out again. So, I joined the team to get a little accountability.

Today I have tracked breakfast and lunch. That's a first for about 3 months. I also did video 1 of the 7day Bootcamp series. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be....or maybe I am worse shape than I thought I was. LOL I also shared my goal for the bootcamp on the team boards...and stated it again above.

So, here we go. I'll try and make 5 minutes everyday to just come and post my progress if nothing else.

I have had a craving for blueberry pancakes for about a week now...which is really strange since I dont like blueberries. So I found a recipe for whole wheat oatmeal blueberry pancakes this morning and decided to head to the store for blueberries.

It's that time of year here in the Bay Area. The Girl Scouts are out in front of every store all day long. I LOVE thin mints. I bought a box last weekend. I ate one cookie then my son found the box and ate the rest. So I am feeling a little thin mint deprived. So I decided I was going to stop by on my way out and grab 2 boxes. 1 box to have out in the open, and one to hide away just for me. That got me thinking of sweets in general. So I also decided to grab a candy bar and eat it in the car on the way home. Yeah, my will power or desire to eat healthy has been a little low lately.

So, I am walking through the store to get the blueberries, some creamer for my husbands coffee, paper towels, turkey sausage to go with breakfast and I see one of the checkout ladies near the back of the store, she stops me and says, "Wow! Your clothes are just falling off of you! You look great!" Holy Moly! This is even with my current 6lb gain.

I felt so good about myself that I didnt buy the candy bar and I came home with 0 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. Instead I also grabbed a tub of strawberries to snack on today!

So here's the plan...gonna send a memo to the grocery store. It'll say to have one employee stop me at some point on my shopping trip to tell me how good I look. It can happen anytime during the trip as long as it is before checkout, and preferably before the cookie/candy aisle.

Goal progress check

So, here are the goals I wrote out Wednesday. Just going to check and see how I am doing so far. I still need to read my Fast Break emails that Spark sent me since I am starting the program over.

Lose 50lbs by November 15, 2011. ~ Not yet. I havent even weighed myself since Wednesday. Trying to get over my weighing myself daily thing, but still remembering to do it weekly. We'll see how that goes next Wednesday.

Cardio at least 10 minutes a day. ~ Hmmm. Yeah, no, not yet.

Strength at least 3 days a week for 30 minutes. ~ I brought most of the groceries in from the car on Wednesday afternoon. Pretty sure that's not what I meant though.

Blog 3 days a week. ~ Well, right on target with this one if I can manage another blog post before next wednesday! Woohoo?

Stay within 1200 to 1550 calories a day. ~ Well, my solid food intake is between those two numbers.

Eat a healthy breakfast every day. ~ Doing ok here. Banana, cereal and a cheese stick this morning.

Stop drinking soda. ~ *Takes a swig of her Barq's root beer* After this 12 pack I am going back to buying sodas I dont like. At least I am keeping it to 1 or 2 a day instead of the 3-4 I was doing last week.

Be involved with my teams. ~ Oh yeah, I should be checking those. I totally forgot until I reread my goals today.

Well, it seems I cant even give myself an "A for effort" yet. Progress, not perfection. I need to just keep on trogging through!

On a more fun note...I am seaching for a B&B for me and my husband to stay at for a weekend get away. And you know what the first criteria is for me this time? I am looking for a place with good outdoor activities and/or places to hike while we are there! So far I am thinking either along the coast for those nice beach walks or in the redwoods for some forest exploration! I'll be able to add my 10 minutes of cardio those days. ;)
