I have done a lot of reading and research on supplements and vitamins and exactly what I should take. I figured I would put a blog out about it to see what else anyone else might have for advice on what to take.
I take flaxseed oil, fish oil, and the GNC Mega Sport Vitamin. I also have some of the Amino energy drink in the morning. After my workout, I mix 2 cups of skim milk with an instant breakfast and GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme that has a lot of protein and other things that are good for workout recovery.
So what kinds of supplements and vitamins do you take? Anything you would recommend?

On Spark, I really enjoy reading other people's stories and goals. I also enjoy seeing what fellow Sparks will treat themselves to when they reach a mini goal or an ultimate goal. That got me thinking about what I should treat myself to. Hmm, that is something I had not really thought of before1
I have a pretty lofty goal, so it is still a ways off. I will hopefully reach it in the Spring of 2013...that's the goal! I had not really thought of what I should do for myself for reaching such a lofty goal. Maybe because I wasn't sure I could do it or maybe I just hadn't considered it. But now, I really feel like I can make my main goal and I think it may even help push me more if I set a goal!
So what should it be? I really don't like buying myself much of anything. I would much rather buy others things before I buy myself things. But in the end, this is my thing...this is for me!
I really like to travel, so maybe that should be it. I have always wanted to make an East Coast "Baseball" trip. Go to a Yankees game in New York. Then go to a Red Sox game in Boston. Then hit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. That sounds like fun and could be a great option!
Or maybe I should think bigger! My number 1 place that I have always wanted to go is Italy! With its history and everything, I have always wanted to go there.
A close second is Costa Rica! You got the beach in the front yard and rain forrest with mountains in the back! How can you go wrong there?
Those both sound like great options but with the kids and financial considerations, I may not be able to do it the "right way", how I want to do it. We'll see. Maybe I will just go with new golf clubs! I really like playing golf and could use some new ones!

Seriously! In my best Jerry Seinfeld voice, what is the deal with all that sodium?
For over 2 months now, I have been eating great! I I have been within my carb, calorie, and fat ranges for probably 64 of the last 67 days! I think that is pretty impressive and I am making good progress. Within the last couple of months, I have mixed & matched foods on different days to get in my ranges of those categories and others like fiber, Vitamin C, and protein (and I do track them all daily). I have had 1 problem category the entire time...
I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I have been within my sodium range for a day. One hand out of 67 days!
I know that packaged and processed foods and all of that makes it really hard. Those things are packed with sodium to keep "fresh" and to keep their flavor. Fine, but what a pain in the butt.
I tell myself that if sodium is my one bad category, I will be ok, and I have been. I guess it is just kind of frustrating to be so good in all the categories and see that sodium category high day after day!
So I guess I will just have to take the good of the other categories and try not to worry about the sodium to much, right? Does everyone have this problem? Anyone have any good ways to cut down on sodium?

Don't get me wrong, perhaps the best part of my job in the vacation schedule. I work at The Kentucky School For The Blind in Louisville, so that means I am on a school schedule and get things like 2 weeks off for vacation at Christmas, spring break, and of course I get almost the entire summer off of work. But...
Since I am a single Dad and their mom is in Chicago or wherever (not that I care, but she just doesn't see them) it means I am responsible for their entertainment for most of the summer. Oy vey that can be a pain in the butt! Seriously, I may start pulling out my hair if I hear "i'm bored" one more time! Now, it is nice that they have neighborhood friends to ride bikes with, come over and swim with, or jump on the trampoline with. Of course their is a but to that as well. But, the problem is when they all want to come in and I have anywhere from 7-10 kids all under the age of 8 in the house!!! Read that again and let it sink in a bit! By the way, my son is 7 and twin girls who are 6, so I am only biologically responsible for 3 of them!
So all of this makes working out harder. I did get my aptly named Insanity workout in today, which is good. We also went for a bike/walk this morning and plan to do it again this evening. Guess it is all a little frustrating sometimes doing this all myself most of the time!
Hate to vent much on here but I thought it might help keep me sane...even if it's only for the rest of the day!

It was a pretty good day all around. I stuck to my menu that I made for myself last night so I was within my range of calories, carbs, fat, and protein. I kind of like making my daily menu the night before. I feel more organized and less likely to stray away and eat something bad.
Speaking of eating something bad, I really don't have a craving for it. I don't really have any feeling of wanting fast food or any of that. I'm not real big on fast food type stuff anyways so that isn't real hard but I just don't want any of it right now! I have this train on the tracks and it is full steam ahead! The eating healthy and working out has really just become second hand now...its just the norm!
Time to pop open the Spicy Three Pepper Hummus and Wheat Thins for a quick snack and then hit the sheets!
Good night Sparkville!
