P90x Stretch & Grilled Corn Edition of My Odd-yssey...

With today being my day off from Insanity for the week (WooT! to me for finishing week 1!) I decided to do the P90x stretch video and the Ab Ripper X workout.

I am really glad I did! I still had a bit of leftover soreness in my legs from starting Insanity so the stretch did me good! No joke, anyone who like a good stretch and how you feel after, try the P90x stretch video! It will change your life! Ok, that may be some hyperbole but you get the idea.

After my workout I grilled some corn on the cob and turkey pepper jack cheese bratwurst. If you have not had either, you should! The turkey pepper jack bratwurst are a good alternative and something healthier than the usual meat that you may grill. Grilled corn is a summer favorite and really good!

Good to get the grilling done earlier in the day because I am NOT standing out over the grill when it is 105 degrees!

    Yum! I love corn on the cob! I hope our's turns out good in the garden this year! Just waiting patiently :) Turkey brats are good too, I like them better than regular ones...good choices!

    Highly recommend the Turkey Bratwurst.

There are Turkey with Pepper Jack, Turkey & Cheddar, or just Smoked Turkey. All are good. All are around 6g of fat, 10g of protein, and about 120 calories.

Work on that grill! I love grilling! Mine is charcoal so no worries on clearing lines!

    Ooh, that sounds like a good meal! Never had the bratwurst, and it's been a long time since we grilled corn on the cob, but now I'm hungry for it! Our grill hasn't been working -- I think we may need to clear out the line, or something (we're not very handy people, so these things take time for us!). Excellent job completing Insanity!

My odd-yssey blog Day II (07.05.12)

Shew, its been a long day and we haven't even done dinner yet! But I find it easier to stay on track with my diet if I'm busy. I know that in the past I can be a "bored eater". Nothing else to do? How bout a snack? Well...not no more!

The kids wanted to go to the library to get some books and play on the touch screen computers so we did that this morning. Hey, kids in the middle of summer asking to go to the library? YES PLEASE!

Then they wanted to go to Chick-Fil-A. Uh-oh you might say but I really had no interest. I have had their Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich before which is pretty good for yoiu health wise as long as you don't count the half a days worth of sodium in it! So I passed on Chick-Fil-A and just ate when we got home.

Good workout with Insanity today. Tomorrow is a scheduled off day for Insanity so I am going to supplament with P90x stretching and ab work!

I CAN do it!

I WILL do it!

    Thanks! I really feel like I have gotten in a good groove with eating right and working out. It really feels like this time I can see it all the way to my goals!

I'm not a huge fast food person either. Really I just need to stay away from Subway and I can manage the rest. Subway has some good options but again with the sodium! Really, the hardest thing is staying away from pizza!

    Wow, good pass on the Chick-Fil-A! I don't particularly like fast food, but that is one place I do get hungry for every once in a while. I try not to even look in the general direction of those restaurants when I'm craving it! Look at you and all that determination, way to go!

    Insanity is a lot of cardio! P90x is also very difficult but both definitely show results if you stick with it. Done about 30 days of each in the past but didn't stick with it unfortunately. I really don't like working out either but I like doing those at home as opposed to going to a gym.

Substituting water and things like frozen grapes have been a big help for me. Few things make me feel worse than boredom eating! It's good to see someone else who understands.

    Insanity and P90x both scare me! Tons of admiration for you that you can do them!

I have found that I am also boredom eater (and many other types of eater...). I'm getting better with substituting water or unsweetened tea instead of food for that.

My Journey, My odd-yssey (07.04.12)

If I am going to start a blog, how about starting on July 4th!?!

Anywho, I thought a blog my help me along this long journey regardless if anyone actually reads this or not.

Basically, I started Spark almost 3 years ago and it did me well for about 3 months. I lost a good amount of weight but for one reason or another, I got away from it. I gained some weight back and didn't think much of it until earlier this year. I finally got fed up with what I was doing and decided to take action!

On Kentucky Derby Day (May 5th & it's a Louisville thing) I decided to start back up on Spark and do this thing right and see it all the way to the finish. I was still down 43 lbs. from my heaviest when I started on May 5th and set a goal to lose 167 lbs. more! I know, it's a lot but I have a lot to lose. Plus, I'm 6'7" so trust me, I have it to lose! Even if I do lose that, I won't be skinny by any means! 167 lbs. will put me at a good number that I haven't seen since college or about 12 years ago!

I'm a single father of 3. I am doing this for my 3 kids (Evan, Calli, & Sydni) so they will hopefully have their father longer. I am doing this for myself because...because damn it! This is what I want!

This will be a long journey. The will be my odd-yssey! I lost 33.9 lbs. in 6 weeks + since May 5th starting back on Spark. I did not work out, it was just eating right. I wanted to lose some weight to make it easier to workout on my joints. I did, and now I just finished day 4 of the Insanity workout! Feeling good and 133.1 lbs. to go!

I CAN do it.

    That's awesome about your weight loss just eating right...you totally can do this! Someday I will do the insanity workout! I've had slim n' 6 since 2003...maybe I should actually complete that first! Hahaha! I always get bored with it, but today i'm just going to add it in to my workout...since i'm counting down the days anyway right? What's 6 weeks? So worth it!
