down another 2 lbs, thats good right? :/

Friday, April 11, 2008

This Zo6 Corvette engine weighs in at 454 pounds

101 days into this now

I knew the loss would not be big this week but I am happy because there was a loss, I weighed in at 454 lbs this morning, which is a two pound loss for the week, coming off of an 8 lb loss from last week and being sick I call 2 lbs great. yesterday I was 453 in the morning but I know I was a bit dehydrated at that point so I drank more than usual yesterday which is probably contributing to todays weigh in, but the scale said 454 so thats what it gets recorded at. two more pounds that is not on my body is good news to me.

You're doing GREAT! I'm sure your loss would have been more if you'd been able to get some cardio in, but hey - when you're sick you've GOT to baby yourself!
Keep up the great work!!!

An evening initerlude and a Meal

Grilled turkey burgers with home made fries

An evening interlude

I just thought I would post up a quick interlude for the evening, I am in the mood to write and I took a picture of my dinner, which the dinner was fantastic. we made Turkey burgers out of some ground turkey that I seasoned and diced some onion into and tossed on the grill. everyone in the house liked them and they smelled great too, with them I made some home made french fries which also turned out great, I basically just cut up and seasoned some russet potatoes. I had 2 burgers (4oz each) with onion, pickles, spicy mustard and ketchup on them with 5oz of the french fries. it was way too much food but I was low on calories for today, for some reason all I had was some fruit and a soup at lunch so the meal could have been only one burger and been enough to fill me up. the best part you ask? the entire meal was only 585 calories including the condiments! if you were to have only one burger cut the calories by 220 + condiments, so it would be 365 calories for everything minus one burger. This will be added to my meals. its not as good as a nice fat juicy Cheese burger but its very close and for a nice low amount of calories.

I may post up exactly how it was prepared and cooked in a later post for reference but it was pretty simple and in my opinion it was very tasty and you cannot argue with the low calorie count, the only complaint that I have is the ground turkey grosses me out a bit, but thats because I have this thing about raw fowl, it gives me the willys. Thats all folks.

YUCK! I know what you mean about the turkey - tastes a bit 'fowl' to me, too! HAHA (My stepdad use to say that)
I still haven't been able to get to a 100% ground turkey burger yet - I'm going 1/2 ground turkey and 1/2 93% lean ground beef.
GOOD JOB on a GREAT LOW CAL dinner!!!

Reflecting back to the start of it all.

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

This is the very bottle of Disaronno and the pint of Dublin Mudslide that was bought on the night I just wrote about. it is still in the freezer.

Reflecting back to the start of it all.

There he sat, where he could be found sitting most nights at this time, it was 6:45 pm on a Monday night and nothing particular was going on that evening, which didn’t exactly make him happy because it was New Years Eve. The kids were running around and his wife asked him what was the plan for the evening, and they both decided that since there was no sitter for the children it was going to be a couple drinks on the couch watching a movie. An agreement was made and she ran out and grabbed some Disaronno and a bottle of sour mix, while he stayed at home with the kids. Upon her return he noticed that the bag was too big to contain just the drinking paraphernalia and he asked, “What else did ya end up getting?” to which she answered with only a smile. Inside the bag was a six pack of Mike’s hard lemonade along with the Disaronno, sour mix, and 2 pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, one pint of Chubby Hubby, which was very fitting, and one pint of Dublin mudslide. Looking at everything on the table and feeling a bit discouraged because of his afternoon of reading weight loss surgery websites he silently made a decision to himself to not eat the pint of Dublin mudslide sitting on the table so innocently. A short time later they made their way to the living room, put a movie into the DVD player, and mixed a couple drinks. After their first drink was done she walked into the kitchen and grabbed the 2 pints of ice cream and headed back into the living room. She offered him his pint, his reply to her was, “No thanks, put it back in the freezer I will eat it in a year” she complied and into the freezer the pint of Dublin mudslide went. He thought to himself “just make it through tonight without taking the ice cream”. She quietly enjoyed her pint all by herself, though making a joke here or there while eating it, things like “are you sure you don’t want just one bite?” but he did not give in and remained in the mindset that if he could just make the morning without eating it that it would prove that he did in fact have this thing called willpower. That night he went to bed and the ice cream did in fact survive the night, when he woke up the next morning it was on, and he wrote down every single thing that went into his mouth that day, as well as creating a blog “just to see how it went”. Who would have ever thought that a pint of ice cream could be so significant?

The rest is, how do they say? History. I am the he in the short story above and the she is my lovely wife. Today he is 78 pounds lighter and has not eaten badly in ninety six days. That pint of Dublin Mudslide still lives in the freezer and in one years time from Jan 01 2008 he will enjoy it, BUT the difference is going to be that he is enjoying it on his terms, not because he could not resist it, or because he lacked the discipline or willpower to not eat it, but because on December 31st 2007 he pronounced that he would eat it in a year.

I felt like writing tonight so I thought I would post this up there for anyone who cares to read it. I do thank everyone for their support up to this point and want you all to know that it is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Into the 50's! dropped 8lbs this week, 456lbs and counting.

Friday, April 04, 2008

This 1998 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 weighs in at 456lbs

Day 94 weighing in and shouting from the roof tops.

I knew I was having a good week as far as the drop in weight goes because I check it through out the week, but I honestly did not expect a drop like I have this week, I got on the scale this morning and she whispered softly into my ear 456.4lbs, so I stepped off of the scale thinking "this surely is incorrect I shall try again" second time I step on it says 456.0 "hmmm" I think to myself, one more for the road, 456.6 "maybe its true" I think, let us try this again, 456.4lbs! wow I am excited, thats 8 lbs this week! 8lbs! now I am sick for the last 2 days does this have something to do with it? I don't know, honestly I don't care! 8lbs feels great, I went from 464 to 456 this week and thats awesome! (can you tell I am pleased?) so yeah...there it is...8lbs down this week.

Day ninety four went ok as far as the calories, I finally got in all 1500 of my calories for the day coming in at 1495 so thats cool, the throat is still sore and its raining this morning so I don't foresee a walk in my future. but thats ok, I need to wait until this sore throat passes before I try and push myself into going out and getting in a walk, or a workout indoors even.

Onto the menu for the day.

04/03/2008

Breakfast
7:45 AM
1 tbsp honey with green tea 60

8:30 AM
1 banana 105
1 tbsp peanut butter 95

Lunch
12:15 PM
1 can tuna 150
3 slices whole wheat bread 210
1 tbsp miracle whip 35

Dinner
6:00 PM
2 cups dads chicken soup 350
3/4 cup white rice 150

8:00 PM
1 pepperoni hot pocket 280
1 tbsp honey with green tea 60

Grand total of 1495 calories for the day, and did I mention 8lbs lost this week? I feel like shouting it from the rooftops, which is funny because its a drop in the bucket compared to what I still have left to do, but considering how much weight I have lost since Jan, it is definitely an accomplishment thus far. to recap, if we take the weight loss from Jan1st I am at 78lbs lost! woah! to say it it sounds like a lot! if we take my weight loss from Jan 22nd (the day I got my scale) its 56lbs, either one is a huge number at this point. and I am very happy with what I have done. Thank you for reading and following along with this, all of your support is greatly appreciated and you need to know that.

Day 93 waddya know...

Day 93

It was a day of much fruit and even more soup. I came in under calories for the day but I expected that because of the not feeling well, I woke up today (Thurs) and my throat is killing me, meh and it is beautiful outside, a perfect day for a walk, maybe I will go even though I am under the weather, that will be decided later.

Common sense dictates my decisions as of late where this new way of life is concerned. Yesterday I was reflecting on how I use to eat vs how I now eat, I use to eat a huge breakfast of whatever was closest and tastiest be it a huge bowl of cereal and what was left in the 2 liter of coke in the fridge or a couple pork chops from the night before dinner, and now most mornings I have a banana with peanut butter on it, or a couple of english muffins with tomato slices on them. now I am not saying that every morning I would eat like that, But there were mornings that it happened. then onto lunch then it would be a can of tuna and 4 or 5 slices of bread and enough Mayo to stop the blood from flowing to a Moose's heart, a 32 oz glass of whole milk and a couple handfuls of whatever potato chips happened to be in the kitchen, and now, on most day I eat a can of soup or that same can of tuna except I use 1 tbsp of Miracle whip and only 2 slices of bread and its whole wheat most times. Dinner would be 2 big pork chops, or 2 chicken breasts, or 3 thighs and it was all fried, a lot of times it was battered in bread crumbs and fried! mashed potatoes with a ton of butter on them went along for the ride and a veggie, let us not forget another 32 oz glass of whole milk. Now I eat a 4-6 oz portion of whatever meat we are having, and that is broiled most times, baked others, and 1 serving of white rice that is seasoned and a veggie, and the drink is either green tea or water. lets not forget all of the snacking that went on in between all of the meals, from cookies, to pretzels, right on up to anything that was there. when I compare the 2 styles of eating there is no wonder how I blew up to where I was when I began this in January. the thing about it is this, when I was working a manual labor job and basically busting my ass every day for 9-10 hours a day and lifting weights on top of that, eating like that didn't have the same effect as it did on a body that did not work as hard as it use to, and the problem was that I did not see that, I believe I was in denial for a long time that I was injured and basically not the same person that I was years earlier. I see said the blind man, and the rest is history and here we are.

Now that I got that off my chest.....onto the menu for day 93.

04/02/2008

Breakfast
8:30 AM
1 tbsp honey with green tea 60

9:00 AM
1 banana 105
1 tbsp peanut butter 95

11:00 AM
1 dannon lite yogurt 60

Lunch
2:30 PM
1 can progresso soup 120
1 cup white rice 200

Dinner
6:00 PM
2 cups dads chicken soup 350
3/4 cups white rice 150

8:00 PM
sugar free jello/fat free cool whip 60

8:30 PM
1 orange 85

Grand total of 1285 calories for the day, came in a little low and it was all soup or fruit, which I guess in not really bad but its all that I was able to eat without feeling worse than I already do because of whatever I have atm. my throat is killing me today but the warm green tea with honey seems to help so I have an excuse to drink gallons of it today ;)

P.S. When I track a typical day of my calories previously consumed, I am always amazed that I am saving THOUSANDS of calories per week. The "blind" analogy...I'm going to remember that one!!

This is just a "technical" diet question. You appear to have several servings of rice most days. Do you cook up a bunch and then just keep it in the fridge for when you need it or is there something different you do? Also, what type of rice do you eat?
