yikes

For some reason I really had the munchies today. However, I managed to snack on low calorie foods and did not surpass my calorie range. I hope the munchies are gone by tomorrow!

hopefully

Well, this is it! The last day of the school year for teachers. I have big plans concerning my weight loss for the summer. I hope to begin the next school year at least 10 pounds lighter. My goals for the summer are to continue my calorie counting, exercising, and visiting the sparkpeople site for more great advice!

anxious

Thursday, May 26, 2011

I am a little anxious today. I am a teacher and my last day to work is tomorrow then we are out for the summer. I am worried that since I won't be so busy I will have the tendency to eat. I hope I have changed my way of thinking about food not to let this happen!

retaining water

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Does anyone know how to keep yourself from retaining so much water? It is nothing for me to retain 4 to 5 pounds of water. One day the scale will say a certain weight and the next day may be 5 pounds heavier.

First of all, be assured that it's not at all unusual for our body weight to fluctuate 4-5 pounds in a day -- that's why it's best not to weigh yourself every day (do as I say, not as I do, lol!) or to use the scale as your measure of success or failure.

That being said, I have a couple of suggestions for you since I just went through a water retention issue last week:

If you haven't already, add sodium and potassium to your tracker; you want to keep your sodium low and your potassium high (well, not TOO high! But, we usually get WAY too little of it). Once I started tracking these 2 micros, I broke through a brief plateau (see my blog today).

I also add the juice of half a lemon to my 27-oz water bottle a couple of times a week, and this past week I backed off on my workouts for a few days (your body tends to retain water initially as you build muscle -- see my 5/22 blog).

Most importantly, don't ever give up! As long as you're eating within your ranges and exercising regularly, the weight WILL come off, eventually! Hang in there, and BELIEVE!!!

water intake

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

I am not particulary fond of water so I get my water very cold and add a flavored powder to it. The lemonade and pink lemonade is really good and it makes it alot easier to drink my 8 glasses of water. I also find that if I drink water during exercising it makes it easier to drink.

I don't mind water, but I agree, if adding something gets you to drink more, then go for it1
