Pick up Sticks

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Step, step, step, bend and stretch. Step, step, step, bend and stretch. Such was the focus of my exercise today. Daisy is struggling with her health, but loves to walk and I think it is important for her to get any exercise she can off we went on our walk today. I took it at stroll pace for Daisy's sake. She stopped to lie down and rest twice..I think a visit to the vet is in our near future.

Anyway, I eventually got out in the middle of the field for my intended project. Pics are taken with my ancient cell phone. Note the stick debris in the foreground (you can barely see it...and it was strewned all over...all that is now picked up along with much more.

This tree had died some time ago, and a storm had brought down lots of branch and twig debris. DH will be cutting out some more of the usable firewood, but with our efficient woodburning stove we no longer need lots of little stuff. I am leaving some of the larger pieces to offer our neighbor who has a very small Buck stove, but the rest of the little stuff is what I am picking up and piling for a later burn.

And if I have uploaded these in the right sequence, this should be the end result of an hour worth of picking up sticks.

I know my pile of sticks doesn't look impressive, but remember many of these are very little sticks! There is still enough on the ground out there for another "walk" like this one.

It took Daisy and me another 15 minutes to walk back up to the it was a good morning walk. Our meeting at KH is at 5 pm so I still have plenty of time to get ready. DH was in the invitation work all morning.

Nice weather...great to get outside

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

I spent my morning in the ministry...we did a lot of walking and it was chilly, but great to be out. I loved seeing the trees budding out, flowers blooming or coming up in everyone's yards.

After I got home, Daisy and I headed out to the field area just in front of the house...where I spent an hour picking up sticks and dragging branches to a burn pile. We had so much damage a while back with a wind/rain storm that came through. I have been using my exercise/walk time to pick up sticks and begin piles that we can burn later. Some of the branches will require DH and the chain saw...but there is so much branch debris down, I figure I have lots of good exercise ahead.

This is the kind of stuff I am cleaning up.

This is just under an hour of stick/branch pick up.

Here is my partner/ helper!

Hyacinth blooming in the yard.

Oh..and one more regarding the field where the FitBit this pic taken from my "front" porch, look to the far tree line...and it was way out there that we found my missing gadget! (forgot to add the pic, hence the edit! lol)

I love where you would suit me just fine. I also prefer "real" work exercise to gym workouts. Loved your photos.

Scriptures in Rhyme

Monday, March 11, 2013

via FB From: Ministry Ideaz
Scriptures in Rhyme

The command to go from door to door
is in verse 14 of Matthew 24.

We will live on earth, and not in heaven
says verses 10 & 11 of Psalm 37.

The name of God can clearly be seen
by turning to Psalm 83:18.

Sickness and death will be no more;
It's promised at Revelation 21:3 and 4.

Jehovah's word is always true
Because of what is said at Titus 1:2.

"Take in knowledge of my Father and me"
Jesus said at John 17, verse 3.

At death your soul will be no more,
so says Ezekiel 18:4.

144,000 will rule with God's son
This statement is at Revelation 14:1.

Children must obey parents to live eternally
So counsels Ephesians 6:1 to 3.

The animals will be at peace with mankind
as shown in Isaiah 11:6 to 9.

The reason why we don't go to war
is found in verse 3 of Micah 4.

To salute the flag is idolatry;
This lesson is from Daniel, chapter 3.

Remember "bad associations" aren't good, you see
According to 1 Corinthians 15:33.

We must attend meetings to stay alive
so says Hebrews 10, verse 25.

Take your troubles to Jehovah - He'll comfort you
That's what He promises at Psalm 55:22.

FitBit Found!!!

Saturday, March 09, 2013

We had a morning filled with activity...including getting the keys locked in the car! Had a late lunch. When we got home, we both changed into "play" clothes and went our own ways. When I finally was ready to take Daisy out with me to walk the field and look for the FitBit..DH approached and said: "you'd better wear this" and handed me the missing FitBit. He had gone out looking by himself...figured out a systematic way to look..and found it. SO much like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack! I still am amazed.

THANK YOU my eagle eyed scavenger Hubby!!!

FitBit lost...

Friday, March 08, 2013

I just CAN'T believe it! emoticon

Every time I recharge my fitbit, I seem to forget to put it back on. Today, I charged it and got distracted by a grandchild...and forgot it here by the computer. When DH and I decided to take our walk, I remembered it and came back up to get it and put it on.

A couple of weeks ago, the clip for my FitBit Ultra finally broke, so I have been wearing it tucked into the fabric wrist thing, pinned and tucked into my bra. So..after retrieving the Fitbit from the charger, I tucked it into the bag..tucked the bag back in place and we took off. We walked a full circuit of the cow field...I picked up a golf ball, sticks, a rock...lots of bending over along the we had the dog and grandchild w/bike along for plenty of distraction.

When I came back to the computer to see how my step count was doing...I was shocked to see only about 2000 early morning check! What was wrong....then the truth, the Fitbit was gone.

I checked carefully, then went to tell my husband. We re-walked the total walk...looking and searching the ground..mud, grass, sticks..everything the whole way. My sweet husband is a sharp eyed scavenger...but we never did find it. He thought it was probably here in the house..but so far, I haven't found it.

I could just cry..but that wouldn't help. So, I probably got my 10,000 plus steps..and know I have done at least 13 flights of stairs..but that will be my last count (unless I either find the FitBit or can figure out my old pedometer...some may remember THAT one getting lost during a summer clear-the-fenceline project!)

So, now I begin saving up for another one I guess...and will keep searching. It will be good motivation to make that walk again..daily!

Aaaargh I REALLY feel your pain, my old pedometer is with me constantly and I know the simple joy I get from knowing info from it. Hope you can get a replacement soon. My kids are trying to get me to buy a fitbit instead of my old trusty pedometer. Much as I would love one, I just cant spend money on a new one when I have an old one.

Ahhh Asta. So sorry to hear. I almost lost mine once. I had it clipped to my pants pocket cuz I was going biking. I decided to water the flowers first. When I got back on the bike, I checked to see if it was secure. The clip was there but the fitbit was gone. It popped right out of the clip on thingie. I did find it, but I didn't have a very big area to cover.

I read in here somewhere that a girl lost hers and called customer service and they sent her a new one. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to call them. It's not like you were being neglectful.

I sometimes have trbl getting mine out of the charger.

I sure hope you find it. I know it it is like looking for a needle in a haystack and probably not very hopeful. Lets pray about it. ((HUGS)) Ma
