My Fun Filled Day!

Sunday, November 22, 2009

Yesterday was a busy day for us. Jim suggested going for a walk, since there was a chance of rain and it was cold we went to the local High School Track. We actually started walking pretty fast since it was so cold, we'll we managed to walk 4.25 miles in 1 hour and 15 minutes. That's the fastest time we have ever walked that kind of distance. There were several laps which we timed at 17 minute miles. While we were walking the sun came out and it became quite pleasant for walking.

We were cold afterwards and after hot showers, we then went to a craft show, bought a couple of cute items (Christmas socks that say Dear Santa I can explain!). Then we headed off for some Grocery Store shopping so we could make soup. Jim made his Chicken Corn Chowder recipe which is so good.

The rest of the evening was spent relaxing (since we were a little stiff from the walk), watching football, and bull riding) Yeah! Both the Beavers and the Ducks won there games, so it will be a great Civil War game in December.

Stayed on track today and ready to do a workout. I need 20 more minutes to get my hour in. Just finished putting in my calories for the day and I'm several hundred calories short, so I need to work on this.

Challenges by the dozen

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

This week has been a bigger challenge than usual. I've stayed on track with my exercise all week. But really had to concentrate on what I was eating. Sunday was the pincole party and I did eat a few extra calories (okay 100). Monday I had a friend who I hadn't seen in a while and we went to lunch at Red Lobster, I stayed on track with grilled salmon and did have 1 cheese biscuit for dessert. Tuesday the office went to a mexican restaurant for birthday lunches, and then proceeded to buy cookies and cakes for the afternoon. I was able to pretty much leave everything alone except for 1/2 a cookie, even then I stayed within my calories. Tonight we had a birthday get together at a local bar, I stuck with water, had a cup of their white chicken chili, 1 meatball, and vegetables, in fact I was short on my calories for the day and I'm having to add a little this evening. I have gotten home and don't feel deprived maybe depraved but that's another story.

I'm still struggling some with the eating I was really craving chocolate today, so now I'm having a skinny cow fudge bar (100 calories). Not sure why the chocolate craving was so strong today, but it was. But overall I'm eating a lot healthier and feel like I'm really making progress.

You are doing great. I hope you're really proud of yourself! I have the most difficult time in social situations. And did you ever have allot going on! Now I'd like to hear more about the depraved part...lol

Have another successful day!

Sounds like you made totally sensible choices. Good for you!

I am so proud of how well you are keeping in control of your eating with all of the temptations that surround you. I only wish I could be that good emoticon
I did find out today that I have hypothyroidism and will be starting on meds to fix that. My doctor told me that with all of the effort I have been putting into exercising I should start seeing the weight come off better once my thyroid hormones are back in a normal range. I sure hope so. Hopefully the hair will quit falling out too. I was afraid I was going to have to resort to a comb over soon! LOL. Have a great week and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Party time

Sunday, November 15, 2009

Today we host a pincole party. We've planned carefully for the food we are serving to insure we stay within our calories. Our menu includes:

Beef and Noodles (using egg noodles, and lots of vegetables) (very filling)
Zucchini Casseroles (extremely low cal)
A vegetable tray
Bread Sticks (1 bread stick is 110 cal)
Dill Pickle Dip (not low calories but the group loves it and I can leave it alone)Grapes
We will have nuts on the table and some candy (the group does expect some, though Jim and I are allowing ourselves some nuts)
Oreo Dessert (seems like s sinful dessert but its only 100 calories per serving.)

The candy will be our biggest challenge and the group likes having sweet snacks on the table. We bought most everything ahead of time and have had the candy in another room so we won't be tempted and we have been able to leave it alone. Were planning on filling up with the good stuff, and then we won't be so tempted to eat the candy or dip.

Looking forward to the party today its at 2:00 and we usually go until 7:00

That is some great planning for the party. It sounds like you'll not only have fun but wont feel guilty afterwards. Congratulations on being able to stay out of the candy until the party. I still don't trust myself with situations like that.

Have a ton of fun,
Barbara

What a wonderful day!

Saturday, November 14, 2009

What a beautful clear crisp Saturday Morning. This is the kind of morning that it feels great to be alive, it provides energy and clarity. Right now as I type this blog I see the Mountain Range and the fields and trees inbetween. I allow my self to breathe in the crisp clear air and feel blessed. It's quiet here in my home and it feels peaceful for the moment. I look forward to the day ahead and what it brings.

May all of you have a great and glorious day!

I'm glad you're having such a beautiful day. It's cloudy, cold, and dreary here. But I'll make the best out of it. Perhaps I'll just snuggle up in bed with my puppy and spend the day reading.

Keep enjoying your weekend,
Barbara
