Quality weight gain.....

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Big family wedding, couldn't wait. We were going to see family we haven't seen forever. I threw caution to the wind and ate, drank and danced the night away. It was great. Now it's time to pay the piper. But it's o.k.. The quality weight gain ( as my weighwatcher leader calls it) was worth it. I went to Zumba last night and will keep "working it" to get back down and then some !! I noticed Sarge Skinny's bike challenge. I'm all over that ! Let the games begin........

You made a choice knowing that you'll have to work extra hard to work it off and I'm sure you will. Glad you had fun! I'm working back to my routines after a week vacation so I'm right with you. No Excuses. emoticon

Have to get back to exercising ....

Friday, June 14, 2013

Ok, so it's simple right ? I exercise, I feel better, eat better, sleep better and definitely have better moods. So why don't I stay consistent with it ? I've gotten off track and it's time to get back. That said, it's now in writing, that I will start looking out for myself and get back to exercising. Today is the first day....... emoticon

I don't know how I missed your post! Exercise is not a chore, it's a lifestyle... that is one of many pep talks I give myself when I get tired of it all or start making excuses or just plain ol' fall off track. One that really pushes me is: I Want This, I Want It Bad! Mind / Matter emoticon

I'm the same way and (before reading this) had already decided today would be the day to return to my exercise routine. It's a lot easier to fall out of a habit than it is to reestablish it for some reason.

Oh my goodness, so many times I've thought the Same Thing! Right now I'm in a 'go for it' phase and will cheer you on since we're on the same wavelength ;-D
Things are falling into place around the house and I simply remembered what I used to do every evening for about 10 minutes when I was single whether I walked the neighborhood or not: Plank, bicycle crunches and 'bridge/squeezes' (surely there's a better name haha!) Hit lots of areas in a brief time. Results in the early days led to more varied exercises and strength to walk longer.
Just wanted you to know 'I get it!'

My sandpail list......

Sunday, August 19, 2012

I have to admit, I borrowed this idea from a magazine, but I did make it my own...a sandpail list. Obviously it's a take off on a bucket list, but it's full of things I want to do before summer ends. Summer always comes and goes and I think, "I never did this or that". ( I work in the schools and am off most summers, although I worked part of this summer).
Anyway, my list is full of things like "eat seafood once a week, try a new fruit or veggie once a week and plant 20 new perennials". The tougher things are "go ziplining (thank you Sue !), go to Playland (haven't been since kids were little) and go to the beach. I've actually been checking things off and summer is not over yet !
Officially summer actually ends September 21st and I will probably need all that time to be anywhere near finishing my list ! So, what's on your sandpail list ? emoticon

Sap cycles and lunar eclipses....

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

This morning at 3:00, I woke my children up to see the lunar eclipse. Suprisingly, they all climbed out of bed and came with me. It was pretty cool and as they stood rubbing their eyes (16, 14, and 12), I was reminded of the time I dragged a ladder out and climbed a tree in our front yard.
The goal was a sap cycle that had formed about 10 feet up off a branch. I just had to have them taste it, because the sugary ice cycles don't form that often. It was only slightly sugary, but as I watched their eyes light up, I was glad I had made the effort. I guess my point is, take time to make memories with the ones you love. That is what life is all about !

Somehow happened upon your page and loved reading this. You are so right; it's worth that extra effort for forever memories. Good for you (and everyone else, too!)

Great post........and I absolutely agree! My "little ones" are now 23 and 26..........those memories we made at the oddest times are the ones I treasure the most. Now building them with my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. Thanks for the reminder today of what's important.

Seeing the good in the world....

Saturday, August 21, 2010

O.k., at the risk of sounding like Pollyanna, today I found alot of good in people around me. It started with a bike ride along a local path. There were so many people, some walking, some riding, some with families, some in couples. You get the idea. But what surprised me was that EVERYONE smiled at me. I don't know if I smiled first, but it didn't matter. Everyone was so happy and it was contagious. It must have been the endorphins and I was thinking that if everyone exercised , the world would be a better place. ( I feel as if I should skip off into the sunset- LOL) Thanks for listening !
