Winter time

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

This is the first winter since I retired 2.5 years (May 2011) that I don't have any one to take care of and keeping me busy besides my family. As you know (maybe not ) both my parent has passed in the past 14 months. And I do miss taking care of them .

I enjoyed taking care of them, at times it got hard but I keep doing it out of the love I had for them.
Dad always said I didn't need to do all I did but I said it was my time to take care of you & mom you took care of me then I was growing up & when I was so sick when I was little.

Away I am tiring to keep busy I taught myself to crochet not to good but I am learning as I go . I am finishing a quilt I started last year 3/4 done I can't wait to see the finished product.

I have taken up reading again in fact more than I ever have. I got a stock pile of books LOl I need to stay off Ebay. emoticon

I have also taken a liking to exercise just tiring to get more minutes in on the treadmill and to get the speed up . One day at a time.

Winter is coming upon me and I will be home more I don't get out in the cold weather unless I really need to and I just need to keep busy and keep my mind occupied . Like they say there is always housework to do that in it self is a never ending job.

Hi Brenda, did you find a face mask yet. I have been wearing mine an d so far my walking buddies find they are warmer and breathe easier with them on.

The challenge is over and the best part of it is I found you. I hope we can stay in contact. I love to sew but mostly for myself now. I am making rice bags to give to our neighbours and friends. I can never have too many rice bags. Take care HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like you have a lot of good stuff to help and I happen to enjoy everything that you have mentioned myself!

Do you have favorite authors? Sometimes I like to read things I have to really pay attention to, and then other times I to read things that I don't have to pay as much attention to.

I will look forward to seeing pictures of your projects.

Brenda...........I know it is so hard when you have just lost your parents. I remember when my Dad passed in 2009, 27 days before his birthday. We always celebrated our birthdays together when I was growing up, his was November 28 and mine, December 1st. This year, his birthday would have been on Thanksgiving. He always used to say that sometimes it worked out that way.
What you are doing, taking up new hobbies and trying to stay busy is the right thing to do. I'm surprised you aren't headed south in the RV for the winter? Maybe your Hubby isn't retired yet? You know Eileen and Roger are here in TX in the Valley. We would love to have you, too! Be sure and take a picture of your afghan when you are done! I want to see it! emoticon emoticon

Sometimes it is hard when you lose a loved one or loved ones. Just the fact that they are gone and you now have to find something to do. It is hard. Lost my husband this past February and now I am lost to what I am to do. So I know what you are going through.

    Brenda,
Ebay sucks you in like amazon. I like the kindle books and mostly get the free ones. I can read them on my pc or reader. Sorry you lost both parents so close. Being retired can be fun as long as you find something to do. We have CASI here which is a senior center that is kind of like the ymca but with much more activities than just exercise. I keep trying to get mom off the pc long enough to check it out. We still like getting out to shop resale shops even if it is just window shopping. Michaels store has classes to learn new crafts also, which is fun. Take care. TC

BOOBERRY, My DH Dad died at 60 and at 60 DH had a physical including a tread mill test. The Dr was doing a thallium test and just a few minutes in to it he stopped the test and sent DG down to Portland for catheterization.
DH was totally withdrawn it was awful. It took a while to get beyond that but now he is over 15 years beyond his Dad so life is good again. It will be our 50th Wedding anniversary in August. We are still lovers, woohoo, way to go.
I did not recognize BOOBERRY and commented on what you said about food Then I went to the RV team and saw the same name. I thought you must have allergies, sorry I might have made a wrong assumption, forgive me. I will try to do better next time. HUGS Pat in Maine.

All in all I think you are doing really well with losing both your parents so recently. Most days will get better but there is no denying it sneaks up and hits you hit when you don't expect it. I hope today is better.

Well I went and saved $$$$

Thursday, April 04, 2013

I have been looking for a new treadmill for a few weeks now my old one is still good but 8 years old and I wanted one with new tech stuff on it.

Finally a week ago or so we went to Sears I was looking at the Proform but found a Nordictrack C900 for less and a lot better but to find out 2 different brands but same Company. It was on sale at a great deal !

It has 32 different programs on it and ifit compatible, speed to 12 and incline to 15 and I am lovin it it has four shocks on each side . The ifit was sold separate so I waited a few days to buy it I was going to wait longer but I was on my emails one day and Sears left me one that they haven't seen me for a while and would $25 off a $50 or more purchase get me in the store well the ifit was $99 I also had 14.22 on my reward card so the 14.22 and 25 got me off $39.22 off the 99 so I think I did real well !

This will help me keep walking when it gets to hot out and to cold in the winter like today it is nice out but damp and the pollen count is up not good for the asthma.DS didn't have a treadmill so we gave him the old one and he was happy to get it.

tiring to stay heart healthy Brenda

I have been "hinting" to the hubz how a treadmill would make me happy enough to perhaps bake him a pie or something :P , would come in so handy during winter, my southern behind is not too keen on getting out in the snow! Congrats on saving moula, always a good thing :)

Oh, I envy you a lot! I really miss my treadmill for when I don't want to walk outdoors. The iFit sounds nice as well. Plus you saved lots of $$$ - a win, win situation!

It really is nice to have something available besides tapes. I have terrible allergies and walking outside can be hard for me. I live in a building that recently built an exercise room. It's so nice to have the treadmills there.

check your meds

Thursday, May 12, 2011

I am asking everyone to check the medicine when you have it filled I just got Mom's fill at Walmart checked it when I got over to their house I didn't recognize one of the pills looked closer and realized they gave her 100 MG of this pill instead of 10 MG 10x the dose could of been a dangerous situation if I didn't notice it SO PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR MEDICINE WHEN YOU GET IT FILLED. emoticon

That is scary and deadly too. Glad that you checked. I had one that was not mine and took it back. Not sure how it got into my meds.

I'm glad I just have asthma inhalers and common/generic stuff (thyroid) that is not likely to be done wrong and is color coded.
