It always takes my dog at least a month to adjust her built-in alarm clock that tells her when it is dinner time! Now she barks and barks around 5pm insisting on having her dinner!

I just want my 4 legged alarms to not wake me up at 4:30 am! LOL!
My body never is comfortable with DST. I wish they would just leave it alone...
I'll be 56 in December, and I like my age now much better than at 20... I'm like Maxine... I say what I think more now, and I usually get away with it...LOL!

The time change is a pain in the neck. My cat is also confused. Fortunately he lives outside. My husband hates it because we live on property that has considerable maintenance required. By the time he gets home it is dark. He's an "outdoors" kind of guy.

I personally hate seeing schoolchildren getting off buses in the evenings with evil people lurking around. Frightens me for them. I pray for their safety.

LUVSBULLDOGS: I don't think my clock could rewind enough for me. Probably break the spring in it (do they still have springs)? LOL!

Bonnie, how many times would we have to go around to get back to 20? Like in the time machine?

Hope your having a great fall. Good luck with your weight loss and congratulations for your loss since July. Good job. emoticon emoticon

We don't have daylight savings time in Arizona either - but we go from PST to MST when everyone else changes their clocks. I didn't know Hawaii didn't change either.

Ugh another clock reset. It wouldn't be so bad but my cats have their own built in alarm clock and when it's 7am (which will now be 6am), they'll be doing a dance on my head to wake up. LOL this will go on for a week or so.

How many of us wish we could do this? How many mistakes we would avoid, right? Like eating too much? I'm fighting that right now. I've lost 21 lbs since mid-July. Have lots more to go but I'm determined.

How about you?

Happy Fall Everyone!

We don't have daylight savings time in Hawaii.....however, my clock does that automatically, so I need to reset it to the correct time!

Check your shampoo bottle label!

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Aha!!!

Another Helpful Hint/Warning

Check your shampoo bottle label.

I don't know WHY I didnít figure this out sooner!!!!

Itís the shampoo I use in the shower!

When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body and (duh!) printed
very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning,

*FOR EXTRA VOLUME AND BODY!*

NO wonder I have been gaining weight!!!

Well! I have gotten rid of that shampoo and I am going to start using Dawn
dish soap instead.

Their label reads,

*DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE*.

Problem Solved!!!

If I don't answer the phone I'll be in the shower!!!

Serious Prayer Request

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

I had an endoscopy done a couple weeks ago. Hiatal hernia was definitely there.

Decided to see my surgeon just to get an idea of what surgery would be like if I needed it.

SHOCKER: The hiatal hernia has pushed up into my chest area and pressing against my HEART.

Here's the challenge from the surgeon: Lose SIXTY pounds in THREE MONTHS.

I have a very slow metabolism, injured knee and bad back. How in the world am I suppose to do that?

Only God can create this miracle, along with support and prayers from all of you.

Thanks in advance.
Bonnie

Well, it's been awhile since I've checked and updated my weight loss progress. I've never gained any weight back since starting this serious journey.

I'm so excited to tell you that as of today I've lost TWENTY POUNDS. Can you believe it? Wow! I've struggled like many of you down through the years. This time with your support and prayers I am accomplishing something that has worn me down through the years.

I just want to encourage all of you to never give up. I've got to see my doctor in a couple weeks. I am content with the progress I've made and will not be pushed or pressured in to trying to lose more rapidly. I think 20 lbs in a little less 3 months is fabulous.

Come on folks! Get reignited. If I can do it you can too.

Hugs,
Bonnie

I have been on a plateau for 3 weeks or more but WAS NOT discouraged. I am carefully choosing low-carb, high-protein foods. I am very much aware of portion sizes and avoid sugar-laden products (much more than I use to be).

Well, today I got another great breakthrough. I lost 3.5 lbs making my total loss 14.5 lbs!!!! I am SO FOCUSED, determined and fed up with all this excess weight.

I have a wonderful cheerleader husband who believes I can walk on water (ha ha). He is losing right along with me although he only needs to lose around 15 more lbs.

I now can reach my feet by just simply bending over. I have lost enough fatty tissue on my back to make my old faithful back scratcher hurt when I used it (I didn't even realize there was any fatty tissue gone until then. My slacks are getting longer, shirts I use to wear unbuttoned with a shell under it can now be buttoned.

My face is slimmer, my back and knees are much better. I am saying all this to encourage the rest of you to come along with me and do the same for YOUR HEALTH. Believe me, if "I" can do it YOU can do it.

Appreciate your continued prayers and support. Love you all.

Bonnie

Well, I'm here to update you on the attempt to lose weight. I've lost TEN pounds. I talked to my family doctor and she seemed to think the other doctor's idea of 60 pounds in 3 months was extreme. She told me that I was on the right track and to be pleased with each pound I lose (not gain).

I'm going with the 2nd opinion. I've had lots of family in for 3-day weekends and I will say that I've been very faithful in watching what I've eaten. I have to admit that before I would have given in to ONE piece of cake, pie or cookie. As a matter of fact we usually ordered out. They totally understood my dilemma. I simply didn't want leftovers that would either go bad or tempt me too much.

Please continue praying for me. I'm feeing better now. The main thing besides losing the weight is my knees which are making it tough to climb steps. I know that part of that is due to excessive weight.

I love and appreciate all your support and prayers. You're wonderful. I hope to be back on SparkPeople on a regular basis now that the family members have been here and gone.

Hugs,
Bonnie

I had to go review what you actually said. SIXTY POUNDS IN 3 MONTHS! I'm with WHIRLEDTRAVELER. It would have to be God doing it for me because I know that in myself I could not do it. Prayer and movement and going to be key here I think. I will be praying for you!

I hope you have access to a pool. Also there's a video 20 minute seated exercise (with band) first discovered it when I had a problem with my knee, now use it all the time. I didn't have one of those stretchey things so just used a towel .

Of course we will keep you close to our hearts and in our prayers.

Thanks for the prayers and ideas. I have been given the name of nutritionists that this woman doctor's husband used successfully and lost 60 lbs. We all know that men usually lose weight faster than women though.

I have a girlfriend who has been through this similar ordeal and has had surgery. The surgeon at the famed Cleveland Clinic recommended the diet book "Belly Fat Cure". She is doing well with it so I'm going that route right now. I posted all the foods that I'm required to eat for each day (2 weeks starter foods) on my Sparkpeople plan and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it actually was a little less calories than what Sparkpeople suggested for me. The other thing that was encouraging was the Pii chart comparison of their diet for the day matched very closely to what Sparkpeople recommends.

We'll see how it goes. Please keep the encouragement coming and other ideas too. You're so sweet to take the time to help me out.

God bless you all,
Bonnie

Will be praying for you! I recently heard of a Microfood diet where you eat mostly fruits and vegetables with beans and nuts for protein. The people that tried this diet found that if they did this for about 10 then they lost the cravings for processed foods. I don't know, I've never tried it...I agree with SONYALATRECE that you should ask your doctor.

If you have back pain and knee pain you should totally try swimming. I've had knee pain quite severely and it really helps get my knee use to the movements in water and then I'm able to move on land better too! My mom as arthritis in her knees as well and it did wonders for her. And by the way I was looking on SPARKS and you can burn quite a bit calories just swimming!!

You can do it! Ask your doctor for ideas as well and eat foods which burn calories faster and metabolize faster. Search the web for ideas as well.
