Goals for 8/6-8/12

This week's goals are pretty low key.

1) Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
2) Be in bed no later than 2230
3) Yoga 3x this week
4) Keep posting on Spark

Still recovering from bronchitis, so this week is about not pushing it and simply taking care of myself. I've decided to not pursue any other form of exercise until I'm feeling better.

I've also had to let my team know that I won't be at practice tomorrow night and to have someone else lead praise and worship on Sunday. I'm hoping to at least make it to church next Sunday and play piano. Time will tell.

I find myself really frustrated right now. Even regular, every day tasks leave me short of breath. But I know that I will get back to normal eventually, so there will be no giving up on healthy habits just because I can't do my regular workouts right now. That is why I put goal #4 up here. If I stay active on the site I'm more likely to stick to my other goals. And being healthy isn't just about exercise, it's also about taking care of yourself. So that's the plan for this week.

    I feel the exact same way when I'm under the weather. You'll heal much quicker with your goals. I wish you speedy recovery.

    Good plan! Sometimes we as adults don't know when to call. We have to go to work, make the house, pay the bills but we need to be in good condition to do it. Rest up, get better!

...but doing a little better today. I got some yoga in yesterday to help with the achy muscles this bronchitis/cold has given me. My wonderful husband let me catch 12 hours of sleep while he took care of the kids. Rest does a body good! I'm hoping that by tomorrow I will be able to start my push up challenge over. Outside of that I will probably only do yoga for the rest of the week. I don't want to push myself too hard and end up prolonging my recovery.

I am proud of myself for the amount of water I've been taking in since I got sick. Definitely hitting the daily amount required and then some. I just hope I don't start slacking once I'm feeling well again.

    You will probably stick with it since it doesn't take long to set up a habit. It reminded me to pick up my own water bottle and guzzle away too.
Everyoe in our family has their own water bottle...granted that doesn't stop my two year old from "needing" to use my own, but it's all good.

    Thank you, John! I bought a filter for my sink (Maryland water is quite gross without it) and fill up a reusable bottle. The only regular bottled water we have here is for emergencies. Funny thing...I was in target recently and watched a gentlemen fill up 2 whole carts with bottled water. According to the cashier, he does this regularly. Gave me a bit of a chuckle.

    Water is amazing in its restorative qualities. An interesting factoid is that in blind taste tests, the water which is consistently chosen as best is New York City water from the tap, winning out over all of the super expensive bottled brands. So, Buy one bottle of water and fill it up from the tap. Note, this does not work if you live in like Jeckyll Island Georgia where the water is about half sulfur.

Totally unimpressed with getting sick. Especially since it's in my chest. Asthmatic + chest cold = disaster. Especially when I'm almost out of my albuteral and can't get an appointment with the doctor until sometime next week.

Guess I'll be spending the next few days focusing on water intake and resting instead of working out. I still plan to do tomorrow's push up challenge though. I want to keep the momentum going. But no cardio and I don't have another push up challenge until Monday, so that gives me some time to rest. Keeping my fingers crossed that I recover quickly.

Wednesday's workout

Today is an active recovery day for me. I'm quite sore for some reason so I needed to take it easy. After doing day 2 of the push up challenge (MAX was 13 today) I hopped on the elliptical for a moderate 10 minutes at resistence 4. I didn't push myself at all. The goal was simply to warm up the muscles and get the circulation flowing. Afterwards I stretched and loaded up on some much needed water. Here's hoping I can feel less sore tomorrow.
