Monday's Workout Reflection

Monday, July 23, 2012

Whew! I'm sweating like a man right now! LOL

Today I decided to do a performance workout on the Elliptical. I am SOOOOO proud of myself for how well I did. Here's the breakdown:

Time: 20 minutes
Resistance levels: 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9
Minutes I hit target RPM: 6
Minutes spent at 50 or higher RPMs: 13

Now here is why I'm proud of myself. While I only hit the target RPMs for 6 minutes, that's a new record for me. And one of those minutes the resistance level was 9! I've never been able to do that before. I'm also proud of myself because I was at 50RPMs or higher for over half of the workout. Now that won't seem like much to most people, but for me it's progress. My lungs took a beating from living in a house with toxic mold for years. I stopped working out for a long time because I couldn't do it anymore. So as I'm getting healthy again in a mold free house, I'm slowly working my way back up. To see progress excites me, and makes me want to push myself harder. emoticon

Goals for 7/23-7/29 and reflections on the past week

Monday, July 23, 2012

Last week I had a goal of drinking 1 glass of water every day when I first got up. I did great the first few days and then STOPPED! I noticed a difference in how I felt on the days I started with water vs the days that I forgot. On days that I didn't drink water, I carried around a headache all morning. My migraine medicine dehydrates me at night, and the irony of that is that I wake up with a headache! So water is a must.

My other goal was to blog about the exercises I did. I did that, and I like doing it!

So this week's goals will be to drink a glass of water as soon as I get up each morning, and right before bed each night. I want to continue blogging about my workouts, and I also want to pick one friend to motivate this week. Being healthy is a journey, and you're more likely to stick to it if you are motivating someone else.

Lesson to be learned from this week: Just because you didn't reach a goal doesn't mean you shouldn't keep trying. emoticon

Awesome work out today!!

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Totally energized after a 6 circuit workout using Prevention 3-2-1 DVD. Highly recommend it! I did NOT want to work out today. I really didn't. But you know what? Now that I did, I have energy, less stiffness in my body and my headache went away. Sometimes you just gotta make it happen! Now to hydrate. emoticon

Monday's workout reflection

Monday, July 16, 2012

Today I needed something fun to get me back into my work out groove. So I chose two exercises from Pop Pilates to get me going. It's fun because she puts music to the workouts in order to keep you from being bored.

The first one is called "What Makes You Bootyful Butt Challenge".

This one is short but don't be fooled. Your butt will feel the burn!

The second one is called "Brokenhearted Ab Challenge".

That one is BRUTAL if you haven't worked your abs in a while. I'm definitely going to be feeling that tomorrow!

Before I worked out my body felt tight. It wasn't that post workout tightness where you can feel muscle building. It was that "hey you've been lazy for 2 weeks and now you're stiff" kind of feeling. Now that I've worked out I've got the good kind of soreness going on and I'm already in a better mood.

Now I'm off to stretch!

If you made it this far, leave me a comment and tell me what workouts you do to get out of a slump.

Goals for 7/16-7/22

Monday, July 16, 2012

I have 2 goals I'd like to meet for this week. The first goal is start to every day with a glass of water. Before I even have breakfast or coffee, I want to get that one cup of water in my system to start the day off right.

The second goal is to blog about the workouts I do this week. This includes what the work out is, why I chose it, and how I felt before and after the workout.

That's it! 2 simple, attainable goals for my first week back on track.

Thanks Tig! I'm normally too lofty with my goals and end up failing. So I figured it would be better to set short term goals and take it one day at a time. :)
