Did you pour your love today?

I love the little pictures that are shared around Facebook. Everyday I get motivating or heartwarming things that someone has shared. Yesterday one caught my eye, you may have had someone share it with you if you have Facebook, that said A Cup of Self Love. I know that that self love, or lack of it, is one of the biggest reasons I gained weight. God loves me, my wonderful family loves me, I have fantastic friends who love me. I have always known their love. It was my own that I did not feel as strongly as I should. Sat Since I have been at Spark, I am pouring myself a cup of self love more than I ever have. I feel better, and I know that since I am feeling it, so are the ones I love. We put out what we have inside. I think I will get myself a taller glass.

    Thank you all for your comments! I tried a new workout video, and I took some time later to try and learn some Zumba steps. That is hard but I will get it sooner or later!

    Love the words "a coup of self love" yes, I did pour a cup of self love today and went to Gym and worked out. Treated myself to Sauna and jacuzzi after work out. How about you Blue?

    Good for you! It took me a long time to realize that if God loves me and thinks I'm beautiful (because he made me and loves me) then who am I to have such a negative self image. It's like saying "Sorry God, but you really messed up when you made me."

Why oh Why?

I have been on Spark since the last few days of March. I have been successful, losing 11 pounds! Weekdays, I d so well. I track food, and eat very well. However when the weekend comes, I struggle Saturday and Sunday. I know I am far from being the only one. Why does this happen? I live with the same people, we eat the same way, but I find myself just wanting wanting wanting. The things I want are not exactly the healthiest foods. Is it because I am too strict with myself all week? Is it because I see the weekend as carefree, and weekdays all business? I do stay on track, but it has not been easy. What are your thoughts?     I had a rough weekend, diet-wise, too! Seems to be a common problem, judging from posts here. I had it even worse, because I had been on vacation all week, so the structures I use to guide my choices were very eroded. I did get in more exercise, since I had more time, but my eating was undisciplined.

I like Deb's approach. If we are going for the long haul, and for lifestyle change, we must practice ebb and flow. That's why I used to weigh in on Friday mornings, give myself a little leeway on the weekend, then get back on it Monday. The trouble is when leeway goes way out of bounds, far enough to do real damage to your goals, or gets hard to rein in again.

The good news is, it's Monday! Sounds ironic, but I totally mean it. Normally after a vacation, I am having a hard time getting back to work, but it actually feels refreshing today- back to life, back to reality...

    I believe for me, it is the lack of structure and boredom on Saturday and my lack of control over my diet and the overall stress on Sundays with the extended family that I have more problems on weekends. I am trying to structure more activities and cardio workouts on the weekends to help me. I find that the more I exercise I do the less "hungry" I am (what ever kind of hunger I may be experiencing)

    I can so relate to you easily. If I will eat something to treat myself, I have learned earlier of the day is better. Such as treat your self to a nice breakfast. I read some book and it said front load is better. You still have all day to burn some calorie. Lol)) congrats on your weight loss.

    I do the same, but since I'm in this for the long haul rather than a quick sprint, I let it be as long as the overall trend is in the right direction. I figure that learning to "be loose" without totally blowing it is part of the learning of good habits. I have a very set routine during the week and enjoy relaxing that structure on the weekends. I don't eat on a schedule, and exercise in different ways. So if you are trying to lose weight quickly you have to stay firm on weekends, but if you are trying to create new long term habits, I think it's ok to lighten up on weekends and go back to it during the week. I think it can help you maintain for the long term. Or ... Maybe I'm just making excuses! emoticon

    I'm the same way, I try to stay busy so I don't think about it but it doesn't always work. Also, I try to keep health snacks around so if I do get the urge I can eat that instead of the junk food. emoticon emoticon .

  I have the exact same problem. I feel like I am two different people....my weekday self is in total control, but my weekend self feels like....hmm....time to fill up for the famine next week, or something like that.
I can only say if I stay busy, stop for 10 minutes and wait, before eating something I think I want, it seems to help. Also, sugar-free gum sometimes works.

Do you or don't you?

I love to walk. Last summer my best friend and I walked nearly every day, when the weather permitted. It was so great to get out in the sunshine, get in some great exercise, and enjoy her company. This week the weather man said spring will be arriving, and I can't wait! I am so anxious to hit our walking route, and to find new ones. I love walking, but I do NOT care for it by myself. I can do many exercises alone, and prefer to do them alone, but walking I have tried and it just is not the same for me. So for the walkers, do you prefer to walk alone, or with someone?
If you prefer to be alone, did you have to get to the point of liking it? Thanks!

    I can walk by myself (ooh doesn't that sound grownup LOL), but I much prefer walking with someone. Just as I'd prefer playing badminton with someone or riding bicycle alone, as to doing all these stupid infernal exercises :) . I used to love to go 'park hopping' with my kids and hitting the trails and then playing on the playground equipment....Now I need to make sure I'm in shape enough to do that with the grandkids.

    I normally walk on my treadmill . My DH sometime walk with me to the park near me which has a walking/jog trail. One round is 1 mile. He is so out of shape and so far he can only walk 1 mile. (*^^*)

    I enjoy walking alone, with my dog, or with other people. If alone, I like to have headphones to listen to music, which helps to keep my pace up. However, if walking in nature rather than around the neighborhood, I skip music so I can hear birds, leaves rustling, etc. Don't mind going alone because my work and home life are busy. Sometimes quiet solitude feels good.

    I prefer walking alone because I like to clear my head or listen to headphones. But I do like walking with someone too, to talk with someone and have a good conversation. So happy spring is finally here! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    I enjoy all exercise outside and 9 times out of 10 I do it alone. If it is gardening I just enjoy being outside if it is walking I like to listen to music while walking and tune out the whole list of things I need to be doing. It is my me time to enjoy some great music and get some fresh air. I started walking on my lunch again just for fun. I love looking at everyones yards to see what I can do to mine. Great way to get new ideas!

    As I have no one near me to walk with, I have grown to like walking by myself as long as I have my MP3 player! Lately though I have been taking my walks outside with the dogs & I talk to them-lol!

    I like walking by myself it gives me time to think. I also enjoy listening to music while I walk. I downloaded some of my favorite music that makes me wanna move, I even sing along, lol. I have tried walking with a friend, but we don't always walk at the same pace, and sometimes we do more talking than really getting in a good walk. Either way its great exercise!

What Are You?

This morning on Facebook there was a picture that said "Calories don't count on the weekends." I have tried very hard since the few weekends I have been here at Spark to follow my food program and stay with in range. I am curious. Do you take the weekend off, do you stay on track, or do you splurge some of the time? Right now, I am one that stays on track. As I develop better eating habits, I will become a splurge some of the time. Right now I don't, because if I do, I will splurge all of the time. I am getting stronger every day. Which one are you on the weekend? Thanks!

    24/7...develop the habit again....do not waiver, do not falter...until i visit my daughter or they take me out to lunch....but I'm doing better there...But as long as there is a planet earth with things like black forest torte or cheesecake..THERE WILL BE SPLURGE DAYS!

    I try to stay on track. I usually put my whole day's food in my tracker in the morning each day, and have discovered it is even more important for me to do this on the weekend. It helps me stay within my calorie range because even if I do have a little splurge, I know how my numbers will look and can make the necessary changes to try and make up for it. It also prevents a lot of mindless eating because I don't want to have to put in the tracker all the little things that tend to add up!

    I'm boring - I just like riding an elliptical or a stationary bike while reading a magazine so I don't look at the clock too often. If I had an exercise partner, I would play racquetball - so fun!
