Update #9

Well, I have both good news and not so good news to report. Good News: I have been able to maintain my 10.4 pound weight loss. YEAH! Also, I have been able to maintain my workout sessions. Except for Sunday, I was so sore from my regular workout plus completing the holiday weekend challenge. Last Monday, July 1, I changed my workout routine. (SPARK suggests the every 4 to 6 weeks; we should change our workout routine). Instead of completing miles with Leslie Sansone DVDs each day, I started doing the HipHop ABS with Beachbody workout program. There is a 2 month workout guide. I hope and pray I will be able to keep it up once school starts again.

As you can tell from my previous blogs, I have really struggled. For the month of June and the last 2 weeks of May, I was walking about 5 miles a day 5 to 6 days a week, watching my calorie intake and everything. Yet, I was having no real success except for my endurance levels. LOL. After emailing with a SparkCoach and talking to a health friend here in town, we all think I was working out too much and not eating enough so I was starving my body. Sadness! But Praise the Lord; things are starting to look up.

Now the not so good news: Since I am finally on summer break my water intake has decreased and the amount of sleep I am getting has decreased too. While I was working, I was able to down the water and get my 10 cups in each day, but for the past week I have been only able to get like 4 cups a day, max. Urg. I have changed my personal challenge for this week to drink 8 cups a day. I am going to get my 8 cups in today. I have 2 more cups to go. Also, even though I have been tracking all or most all of my fitness, I have stopped tracking my nutrition the last week or so. But, I am trying to start back up again. It is really hard when I am just putting random things together.

For right now, my three main goals are continue to lose weight, get my water intake in, and learn to cook. emoticon

    gah tracking cooking is so hard! i usually just end up picking something close to what i had. i figure having something close ish is better than not tracking it at all. You are doing awesome though! water can be hard to remember but just having it with me at all times sometimes helps to remind me to drink it. :D

  Awesome Job on your progress and the rest will come as you continue your hard work. It's all about staying dedicated even through the rough patches- it will pay off. I find it easy to drink enough water when I carry my own cup with me- my favorite one is the trevis cups because they keep water cool even after the ice is gone and its 24 oz so if you drink 3 of them you have more than 8 cups.

    I think it is great that you are working so hard for your goals but remember to love and nourish your body as well. I have found that when people don't think about the weight they end up losing more. If you're weighing yourself more than once a week, try limiting to once a week. And if you don't already, carry a water bottle with you. If you decide to keep it in a purse make sure it's a really good bottle because as my sister and I can testify it can cause problems if its a poor product.

You got this girl! Just keep pushing.

    It's totally true if you look good at the end of a workout you didn't try hard enough. emoticon
We all have had those days where we could have put in more effort, it's just about not letting that happen to many days and hopefully never in a row.

    I feel you on tracking when you put things together, I cook dinner but I never measure out any of the stuff I use. I measure as I serve myself and that's about it. For the water I suggest a water bottle, if you don't already use one, that way it's easier to get your daily 8 cups. My water bottle holds 3 cups so I just fill it 3 times a day and boom got my water in. I would say don't stress too much, that can also affect your weight, as long as your working out and eating within your calories you can do it. Think of it as a lifestyle change not a diet, that helped me a lot in the beginning and I too was at my first 10 pounds and pushed myself everyday with no breaks lost a couple more pounds then I relaxed a little gained most of the weight then gave up. After a couple months tried again but this time saw it as changing my life now everything's going a lot better, since then I've lost 22 pounds, so see it as something you will do for the rest of your life and not just another diet.

    Water can be a hard one. When I started I gave up everything else, no soda, or anything but water. Now it's just second nature, I always keep a water bottle with me. My hubby swears it's probably attached to me some how. Now I've discovered juice is usually to sweet for me, soda upsets my stomach, water though. It's always good.
The cooking thing you will get use to but I know I still struggle with it. As for the working out to much and not eating enough, we've all been there. It will work out. I've seen the Hip Hop abs and it looks like fun. If you like that try Zumba, it's a lot of fun and probably one of my favorite work outs. You are doing great keep up the great job. emoticon

I finally reached my first real goal...the first 10 pound. It has taken me 4 months. Finally...Praise the Lord. My reward is The Power of a Praying® Woman Bible: Prayer and Study Helps by Stormie Omartiane. I know it is expensive, but I have been working so hard and have struggles quite a bit and I want this Bible so badly. It is awesome! My other rewards won't be so expensive. I'm so pumped!

One of my goals is to jog/run a quarter of a mile. I have a small trail that runs from my apartment complex to an elementary school. There is a quarter of a mile section that runs from a water tower to a county building and I have been working so hard to be able to jog (running for me at this time in my life) that distance.

I DID IT THIS MORNING. I have never been able to jog/run such a distance my whole life, until today. I am so excited. I don't wear shorts out in public, but I am today, since my confidence level has had quite the boost.

Update #8: Non-Fitness Challenge Completed

This summer one of the teams I am on is doing a summer long challenge. Every week there is a fitness challenge, non-fitness challenge, and a personal challenge. For this week the non-fitness challenge is to write a blog about the goals you want to accomplish for this challenge then print and post it where it can be seen on a regular basis.

My ultimate goal for this week is to finally hit that 10 pound mark. I really had hoped that last week I had hit this goal, but sadly it was not to be. A friend and I are trying to figure out why I have not really lost that much yet relatively to the time and weeks I have been working at this. I have been drinking 8-10+ glasses of water a day, at least walking 2 to 5 miles a day, for the most part staying with in my calories, and have cut my pop intake from 44oz a day to 16.9oz a day. I am so frustrated. This Sunday when I weighed myself and hadn't hit that mark, I went out and got a 44oz Dr. Pepper from Sonic.

Hopefully, this I will reach this goal this week. My reward for meeting that 10 pound mark - going to see the new superman movie. YEAH!

With God's help we will succeed!

    emoticon Sometimes that weight can be really stubborn. You may have to tweak your calories a little to see more results. Sounds like you are doing everything right! Just keep at it, and it will happen!

Well, I need to be honest, I am down. I have only lost 6.2 pounds since mid-March. That's 6 pounds in 3 months GGGRRRR. I'm not going to stop. I'm going to keep on...but it is disheartening. And my walking buddies ... sadness.

On the upside, there is a gravel path way (1/4 mile) near my place that I have been trying to run/jog the whole length without stopping and I believe I am 3/4 of the way there. YEAH! Also, when I completed my 1 mile Leslie Sansone this morning, I didn't break a sweat...I'm moving on to the 2 mile walk in the mornings tomorrow.

    6 pounds is better than nothing! Everyone's body is unique. Some bodies shed weight very fast and others take some more time. As long as you are becoming healthier you should be happy and proud of yourself that you have stuck with it!
