My 3 yr old niece has leukemia

This week we found out that my 3 year old niece has leukemia. She started chemotherapy, which is such a tough thing for a little one to endure. She needs all the prayers she can get. She's such a wonderful little girl and I'm so sad that she's sick. I'm even sadder that she's in isolation and I can't even visit her. I can't hold her or hug her. I can't give her a kiss or even a silly high-five. All I can do is ask everyone that I know to pray hard for her.

    That is truly heartbreaking news. I will add your niece as well as you and her family to my prayers! How sad that she is in isolation and you can't even hug her or anything. Are her parents able to? I just can't imagine how difficult this is for you all! Hugs and prayers to you all! Be sure to keep us posted as to her progress. Prayers do work!

Ran my first 5K today and I came in 4th!!! (from last)

So, I'm not the fastest, but I got my best time ever!!! For the first time today when I put my run time into my fitness tracker, it registered as running and not walking! It's a good day!!!!!!

Lost a sack of sugar

Have you ever picked up a sack of sugar? Feel how heavy it is? That's how much I lost. 5 lbs might not seem like a huge number, but when you pick up a sugar sack, it feels like something!

A week of accomplishments!

Three days ago I ran a FULL 3 miles w/o stopping! Plus I walked a quarter to warm up and a quarter to cool down for a total of 3.5 miles. Yeah Baby!

Yesterday I ran a FULL 2.5 miles keeping an average of just under a 13 minute mile. This is HUGE for me. The fastest 1 mile I've ever run is a 12, so to run under a 13 and sustain for 2.5 miles is such a wonderful feeling.

Today, I got on the scale at 140.4. The lowest I've weighed since November of last year. Finally all this hard work is working for me.

    Good job! It feels so good to accomplish new things while running. I remember the first time I ran 2 miles w/o stopping. It makes you feel like you have conquered the world! Keep up the good work!

How do you reward yourself for doing great and keeping to your plan?

Me, I ate 4 slices of pizza, 2 apples, a dinner salad and 2 celery stalks w/ PB the night before weigh-in. I was honest and updated my weight, but I'm up 1.4 lbs this week. Not very bright if you ask me.

Advice to myself. When I'm on a roll, stick with it. Be smart so that when I weigh in I can be rewarded with a happy number!

    Yea, been there! I try really hard to reward myself with something other than food but sometimes that chocolate is just to good!
