I have received a lot of mail on "Jillian's 30 Day Shred" that I have been doing this month. Mostly wanting to know "...is it better than ...?"
In my humble opinion it isn't. But let me qualify that.
We all have different motivators.
Some people want to do something that was harder for someone else just to show that they are better.
Some just want to keep up.
Others don't care about the competitive factors with others but want to push themselves.
Still some want a quick and easy workout that they can say they worked hard but really didn't.
The reasons go on and on.
I have for many years tried various workouts to try to lose weight...for me, with no competitive factors at all. I had such a hard time being able to workout. A half hour walk for me was an extreme challenge that kept me from being able to do other things because of exhaustion. Turns out I had health issues that were keeping me from losing weight.
SSSoooooo the videos that I collected over the years (list at the bottom) weren't necessarily "not good" but that they didn't work for me because of my health issues.
So why did I get the "Shred"
I joined the biggest loser club online from watching the show The Biggest Loser. Then I joined a bootcamp that was running in the club. Someone on there used the shred and was doing extremely well so I thought I would give it a try. I like being part of a group - actually I have imbedded competitiveness I didn't know about
My daughter bought me the shred DVD for christmas but I had just had surgery so couldnt' use it yet, then I was trying to find 30 days where nothing was happening to be able to do it..HA HA!!!! So come April, I decided, my health has improved immensely and April has exactly 30 days I am going to do this!
I think you can read my daily blogs on sparkpeople about my progress on the daily shred. They aren't real detailed but after that workout...it would take some time to recover to make it detailed.
The workouts are hard, but I don't think they necessarily do any better than any other video workout - they are just different. I have learned that we need to shake up our routines to keep losing weight. This will definitely shake it up. Especially if you strive to do the best you can at every move for the entire workout. Any workout can be modified to give you better results - just think about it.
