It is possible to eat just one

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Ok, one of those cravings hit

I really was too tired to fight

but I tried

I wanted chocolate, not my usual craving is there is such a thing as usual

I figured it was a sugar thing since I was feeling sluggish anyway

I tried fruit, nothing doing

I thought about the different things I could try but nothing seemed to be it

So I did it

I ate Hershey's Peanut Butter cups

I put it in my tracker and watched my calories for the rest of the day

It fit, I satisfied my craving, and I don't feel bad about it

This is the wall

The reason I decided to follow the SP menu was so I didn't have to decide what to's already done, and I don't have to really calculate what I can's already done, but I screwed up my menu with exploring options so did the best I could remember from the menu for a couple I have nothing to rely on.

There is nothing planned, nothing easy, nothing sounds appetizing, this is when it would be easy to go to McDonalds.

I WILL NOT GO!!!! Even if I have to eat a peanut butter sandwich (this fits in my remaining calories for the day).

Curve Balls

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Life has sure been throwing me some curve balls but I have not given up.

Sometimes the best I can do is just keep a balance and try to find the path back without reporting.

So I am back.

Was feeling pretty miserable for a while. Knee injury and then turned out my gallbladder was really bad. Try a golf ball in your gallbladder. Doctors were very curious how long it had been there. Guess it is kind of odd to have something that large. Now I wonder if 6 years ago when the doc said that it was my liver giving me pains if it wasn't actually my gallbladder. So the gallbladder is gone and I have to relearn to eat - I actually became scared to eat it was so bad and some of that fear still remains because my body has to learn to process things differently. Each time I add something new, it's a new experience but I am making progress - enough so that I feel like I can get back on the program.

So my schedule is set. Fall backs are set.

I am trying to be more flexible with myself.

A whole new approach?

Friday, June 25, 2010

So I went to the doc for my 3 month follow up for my ugly blood results.

They had a surprise for me. I got to see the Mr Doc instead of the Mrs Doc that I usually see. I kind of dreaded it actually. Not that He isn't a good doc but we just don't click. He is very sharp as in he picks up on the small things most people don't see unless they are pointed out. I regret to admit that I went in the office with quite a bit of attitude. But that got fixed quick.

He looked at my results, compared them to prior results, talked to me about each area, talked with me about my history and what I have been doing recently and decided I needed a new approach to eating. He suggested that I try the Southbeach diet. I know I looked at him like he was nuts, besides the fact that I hadn't eaten for 12 hours and hadn't had any coffee, I thought southbeach was a fad.

He had first hand examples of success. I said I was willing to try and would pick up the book on the way to work and read through it. I totally intended on having the book at least half way read by bed last night so I could really try to start today. Well life gets in the way again. But I do know that it can't be too bad to try it for a few weeks and see what happens. However, thus far today I feel lightheaded which I am sure just means change but other than that it means no exercise today.

My friend, the pending nutritionist, disagrees with the doc. I understand that she is set in her theories but she hasn't really studied me, all she knows is that I really do try to eat good and try to fit exercise in.

I have been dieting all my life in one form or another. Following the biggest loser way except for the processed stuff they use (fake sweeteners are processed and are not good for you) has allowed me to be able to do more exercise than I ever have before. But I kind of got stuck, what they call plateaus and then I got discouraged.

Doc says no plateaus on Southbeach...we shall see, a couple of weeks and if I don't agree then I can tell him it's a bunch of hogwash especially since he knows I read everything about food, nutrition, health, and fitness that I can fit in.

I am kind of excited actually for the scale to actually move.

I think that the South Beach Diet is a healthy food plan, especially once you get past the first two weeks. It's just that we can't have it all, all of the time!! We need to pick and choose what foods we're going to have. When we go to a new phase, we can't have everything at once, but have to see what works for us.
I use the SB Diet, I had a little detour, but have lost about 40# from my highest... And sad to say, I don't follow it as exact as I should, but my little system works for me and I do follow the basic principles of it.
I prefer the SB to the Atkins just because it's not quite so restrictive, but I think both of them have the right ideas...
Good luck to you on your journey!! Bettyor emoticon

A Spark friend suggested SB to me almost two months ago when I wrote a blog about how I was struggling. I always thought that SB or Atkins were just NOT for me but I was desperate and headed to Half Price Books. I got started right away. The cravings went away almost instantly. I lost 11 pounds in the first two weeks. I have lost 20 pounds since I bought that book. The pounds are still coming off even though I am not 100% faithful to the plan.
Good luck to you!

Oh Obstacles!

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

It seems just when I say I am going to do something, it's like the whole universe hears me and says No way! Everything gets in the way.

My eating

My exercise much else to do

Ok, you want to know how construction interfered in my eating plan. In our office they are doing some construction, we were supposed to be relatively dustfree and have our kitchen space during lunch. Not happening. Dust is everywhere! Even in the dishes. Lunch, yeah right, maybe if you don't start til 9...I am up at 530 in the morning. So I ate in the deli and the food made me feel like crap....sleepy even.

I plan on going to the gym, or running up the street, but something else always happens. Take the boys to the park where I get delegated to watching the baby out of the exercise for me.

Ok enough complaining. I just came back from a stomp with bugs flying, hated it but was glad to get something in.

Onward and upward.
