Reassessing My Goals

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

Alright, after months and months of chaos, I'm finally back on Sparkpeople. I'll have to admit that being a bride is really stressful. To sum up the past 6 months, I think sometimes I overthink my goals and get overwhelmed instead of just focusing on the day by day goals with my fitness.

So today, I'm going to focus on me in the now, not the me tomorrow.

Can only take day by day. To quote an old song "The future is not ours to see" and tho we can plan it out, something will always come along to change the plans.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Wow. I've been so busy lately. It's about time that I sit and write a little blog.

In the past month I moved to a new city, switched gyms, committed to a half marathon in February 2014, and had my first Body Pump experience. I also bought a great little device called Body Media (as seen on the Biggest Loser) and I absolutely love it! In fact I love all of these things and the people in my life.

My weight loss is finally starting to pick back up again after a few months of plateau (mostly due to being inconsistent). I set a new SparkPeople goal to be at my final goal weight by the half marathon in February. It's a challenging goal, but it's absolutely doable with a lot of hard work, dedication, and belief in myself.

For memorial day weekend, I'm seeing a lot of family friends that haven't seen me since a lot of my weight loss/inches lost occurred. I'm looking forward to seeing them (in my new dress) and feeling that sense of accomplishment...in fact, I already feel that.

I'm SO close to ONE-derland...I'll make sure to blog again when I reach it. Only 5 more pounds to go!

Success

Saturday, February 02, 2013

It's been a while since I've blogged. A lot has happened in my life and all of it for good. Let's see....

1. I completed my first 5K. My boyfriend and our friends got together and did the Color Run. It was such a rewarding experience. We are looking forward to doing Color Me Rad in April. I'm now addicted to races and will continue to keep up my running. I never thought in a million years that I would be a runner...but well...I am, and I'm proud.

2. I've gotten to the 50 pound weight loss mark. It's been a long journey, but I can now say that I am half-way there.

I've learned so much in the past year or so about my health and my body. I have had ups and downs just like everyone else, but if it's one thing I've realized it's that there are different levels of success. There are minor successes like not eating that candy bar, or major successes like a 50 pound weight loss...but each one is as important as the last. It's all about the baby steps and being proud about what you've accomplished, whether it's something major or minor. Be proud of yourself Sparkers, and never give up!

Until next time....

Week 4 Day 1 C25K

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Wow...that was tough. I huffed and I puffed and I....never stopped.

I started the 4th week of C25K today and even though I wasn't able to do the 3 minute jogging intervals 4 times, I came pretty close. Sometimes I would do 1 minute jogging, 1 minute walking, and then jog the other minute. Sometimes I could jog 2 minutes and walk 1 minute...and sometimes, I could jog the entire 3 minutes as planned.

But when it really comes down to it, I did 1.62 miles in 25 minutes. Not too shabby for a woman who couldn't jog barely jog for 30 seconds 1 month ago.

It's all about the baby steps and I am still proud about my progress. If I need to repeat this week of training I will. I'll do one step at a time, one minute at a time...until I reach my goal!
Never give up!

    Good job!

I remember when I did the C25K program I had to slow down a lot in order to run for the longer run segments. It also took me a lot more than 9 weeks to complete the program as I was redoing weeks that I struggled with several times.

The slower one runs, the longer one can run usually.

Do you use a heart rate monitor? This really helps me also if I purposely keep my heart rate at or below a certain number, I have enough oxygen to run longer distances.

that a girl, proud of you! you can do it and yes sometimes we do have to repeat weeks to progress and stay healthy. i am not sure what pace you are running at but you may want to slow down a little on your runs and walks, that is what i did and it got much easier to push thru

That's awesome! I went through runs like this when I did C25K. It's all part of the experience. Hang in there, keep running, listen to your body, and get ready to celebrate FINISHING! You're almost there!

40 Pounds Down and C25K Up

Thursday, September 20, 2012

It's official! I've lost 41 pounds since May 2012. It's been a long road and it has not been easy, but I did it. I still have another 60 to go, but now I have no doubt that I can achieve that. So...without further ado, these are the things I'm excited about:

1. Buying winter clothes: Last winter, I hid underneath huge sweatshirts and jeans. This winter, I plan on buying some skinni(er) jeans and some boots. Gone are the days that I hide behind XXL shirts, and back are the days that I wear some more fitted clothes.

2. C25K: I just finished week 2 of the C25K program and I feel so good. I can't believe I've come this far in such little time. I have been consistent about my workouts for about a month now and my body has never felt better.

3. Color Run! After I do the SP Trick or Trot Virtual 5K in October, I am signing up for the Color Run in December. It will be my first official 5K and what a better way to do it than with my friend. I've encouraged several people to join me. See what spreading the Spark can do?

Thank you to all of my SparkFriends for following this journey with me. I love each and every one of you. You know who you are! emoticon

Looking forward to the future!

Keep Sparkin'
