I'm ready for Christmas but...

Boy am I ever sore. I just spent the last 2 hours decorating the house for Christmas. But my arms and legs are killing me.

I've also done two loads of laundry and am just starting my third and then I have to make dinner. I'm making roast beef, garlic mashed potatoes and a veg (either cauliflower or zucchini - I'm leaning towards the zucchini).

My husband is working and won't be home until midnight so I can make supper whenever I like. I also have to do the recycling and watch a DVD that's due back at the library tomorrow (Happy Feet).

And, I exercised this morning for 50 minutes. Hopefully with all this activity today, my next weigh-in won't be too horrible since I haven't exercised since last Monday.

Overall, I lost 3.2 pounds for the month but this week has been bad. I haven't done any real exercise since Monday because my left knee is killing me and it seems when this happens, I tend to eat more, too so I've been eating too much and not exercising. So, going into December, I don't know how I'm going to do next weigh-in (on December 5th).

Oops, I made a mistake - overall, I actually lost 6 pounds for the month! Yay me!

    Joanna ~ 3.2 pounds this month is Great! it really is! I feel your pain as my knee is bothering me this week ~ and I TOO tend to overeat or just eat more than I should when I'm exercising less. I think frustration leads to overeating too...I think that during a week when exercise is limited simply getting thru without Gaining is good news. I find it very difficult to lose weight by just eating less alone....the exercise is crucial for me to lose weight. I hope your knee's feeling better real soon! hang in there!

Today's Weigh-in

I'm weighing in early today instead of on Wednesday because I'm going out to dinner tonight with friends from work. I know that's sort of cheating but I don't care. Don't worry, I won't go wild. I just want to eat and not worry about the scale tomorrow.

I weighed in this morning at 212.6, down .4 pounds from last week.

Also, I quit my online Weight Watchers subscription yesterday. I couldn't access their website on Mozilla Firefox (my home browser) and besides that SparkPeople is giving me the same support and tools and it's FREE! Who could ask for anything more? Of course, it's going to take me awhile to figure out my diet using calories, fat, carbs and protein instead of points but I'm definitely up for it.

After not being able to exercise at all yesterday, I did this DVD this morning. It's a really good low-impact cardio and strength-training DVD and one of things that I like best about it is that the ab work and strength-training portion is mostly done sitting down rather than lying down on the floor. And, it's not really low-intensity either. My heart rate gets up to the high 140s.

If you have bad knees like me or just find it hard to get down onto the floor, you should check this out. I bought it at Collage Video.

    I saw this post before dinner and meant to comment on it ~ Joanna, thank you for posting about this workout. I'd never heard of it before. I did look at the preview at Collage (love that site) and they both look like very good workouts. Right now, I'm able to do pretty much intermediate to advanced workouts ~ BUT....I'm always having foot troubles.....seems every few months I get to where I just cant do my treadmill or any jumping around and these would be good for me during those periods. I've added them to my "wish list" at Collage and that way I won't forget. Thanks so much for posting about them! especially since you aren't to the dreaded 50 yet! lol......it's just around the corner for me. I've got till February to enjoy the last of my 40's lol. Exercise Today

Well, I tried to exercise this morning but my left knee wouldn't cooperate. I did 20 minutes trying 3 different exercise DVDs including one I bought called "Chair Dancing" that I thought would be good for those days when my knees hurt but even it hurt my left knee. Oh well, at least I tried...

    Aw, Joanna ~ hun, I' m sorry your knee's bothering you. I admire you SO much for trying. Maybe if you rest it today it will feel a bit better tomorrow. Does heat help any? maybe one of those heating-type pads that you could wrap it with would be comforting. Just take it easy for today. hugs kiddo!
