Bad Day Yesterday

I didn't exercise and the healthiest thing I ate was one apple, couple of cubes of pineapple, two strawberries, two baby carrots, 2 cauliflower florets, 3 slices of red pepper and one slice of vegetarian pizza.

I also ate lots of Timbits and cookies and dessert squares.

I was at a bridge tournament and the choices were limited (I brought my own apple). And, we didn't even do well (middle of the pack - 11 tables in the morning session and second to last (16th) in the afternoon session!

The first paragraph doesn't make it sound so bad after all. Although the rest of what I ate wasn't very good for me!

And, this morning, even though I've had a headache since I got up, I made myself do the 2-mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD. The best part of that is that I listen to my own tunes on my iPod because frankly, I'm tired of Leslie Sansone's spiel! The first song I heard on my iPod was Locomotive Breath by Jethro Tull and that got me motivated.

    I agree, don't guilt out about it ~ it doesn't sound near as bad as some of my bad days lol.......You know, a lot of times, working out really helps me to get rid of my headaches ~ it must losen up the tension. Hey, maybe you need a new workout if you are tired of Leslie Sansone's spiel ~ I did her walks a couple times, but ~ true ~ it can get old. Does your library rent dvds? sometimes you can borrow workouts and get a chance to try them out before purchasing. I like Kathy Smith's workouts, and some of the Preventative Health workouts, and there are some good workouts that are divided up into 10 minute segments that are great for when you don't have a lot of time. But still ~ it's great that even tho you didn't feel so hot you Did it~! Hope you have a great week!

    Awww, don't let it get you down! We all have those days, just forget about it and move on. It's ok to eat some crap every once in a while anyway. If most of the time you are eating healthy and exercising but only occasionally skip exercising or eat some junk it's really ok. Guilt only causes anxiety, which may cause other problems (among them overeating), so don't go there.

I'm down 4 pounds this week for a total of 21 pounds lost since January! Now, I just have to keep it off until my next weigh-in. That's the real challenge.

Obviously, my new resolve worked. I exercised a minimum of 30 minutes for 5 days in the last week. And, even though, we went out for my work's Christmas dinner and I ate much more than I usually do, I still tracked it and felt like I hadn't done too badly. And, I drank my water.

I just looked at my progress charts for nutrition and they seem to be all over the place but maybe that's good for me for weight loss. Who knows?

    YAY!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! jumping around and hollering for ya! Oh Joanna, I'm SO happy for you!!!! YAY! that's fanTabulous! wow! I KNEW you were going to do it this week.....weight-loss does not go by the rules ~ sometimes it's slow to catch up with all the hard work you do and makes you wait forever...but this week~ WoHOOO! Congrats hun!

You say your nutrition charts are all over the place ~ I agree ~ who knows. I know that when I'm going along 'steady-eddy', it's like my body just adapts and doesn't want to change....but if I do lots of different things with exercise and diet, sometimes it gets confused and drops the weight.

Well, this was a wonderful thing to read today...Congrats Joanna! ya done good.

I resolve to exercise 5 days this week. I resolve to keep within my points and when I can't to earn exercise points for them. I resolve to drink my water.

Why is it when I lose, it's point 1, point 2, etc but when I gain, it's 1 pound, 2 pounds, etc.?

I gained.... 2.9 pounds... I mean I knew I was going to gain but why did it have to be so much? I exercised 5 days for 30 minutes each day, which is more than I have been doing. Shouldn't that have counteracted some of the weight gain? Sigh... it probably did... I probably really should have gained 5 pounds!

Why is losing weight so hard? And, gaining weight so easy?

Oh well, one step forward and two steps back and so I shall go on.

    (((Joanna))) ~ well, we had an idea....but I DO want to say that the 2.9 could very easily be a fluke too....I did an experiment once where I weighed every day for a couple weeks, and my weight fluctuated up by about 3 pounds for no apparent reason at all.....that's normal. It could be that if you weighed again tomorrow, you would have a totally different weight. It's just a number that is reflecting all Kinds of things in your body.

I feel ya tho on gaining so easily....I know I can put on weight easily, just Not exercising and I'll gain, but it takes a month and More to lose 5 pounds.

Good for you for putting this aside and moving forward. Are you doing any strength training? Do you have Spark generate strength workouts for you? you might try mixing up your exercise......last week, when I had a 'good' weigh in ~ I changed my workouts and mixed things up. I got out a workout I hadn't done in a while. Try to do something different this week.....sometimes that can make a difference.

And, it's no excuse I know, but I really think this is a very hard time of year to lose weight ~ I think our bodies just want to snuggle in to something soft and warm and hibernate for a while....so, we gotta shake em up!

Whoopee! {heavy sarcasm} Another point 2 pounds. Last week it was point 1. If I lose point 1 next week, I'll have lost a grand total of 20 pounds since January! It sure is frustrating to lose so slowly when I think I'm eating well and trying to exercise as much as possible given my sore knees!

    YAY Joanna! you are consistently going down ~ that's Wonderful! And 20 pounds down since January is quite a bit of weight off those sore knees! You are doing great. My weight loss is always slow too ~ but it is the healthy way to go. As far as doing all the exercise and careful eating and not seeing drastic results ~ remember that good stuff is going on INside too....blood pressure, cholesterol, all that stuff is being improved Inside. We should keep in our head that weight loss is a great Side effect of all this healthy living! lol.....maybe that way we will appreciate our smaller losses. Hugs kiddo!
