Today is the anniversary of my mum's death. It was 9 years ago this morning (in about half an hour) that she died as she was getting ready to go to the hospital for more tests. She had lung cancer and even though, she was sleeping downstairs on a La-Z-Boy and wearing diapers, I was still convinced she was going to get better.

I'm going out to lunch today with my dad (he's got plans tonight). It's the first time since she died that my dad and my sisters and I aren't all getting together on this anniversary. In some ways, I'm glad because I really hated going to the cemetery but in other ways, it's kind of sad. It's like we've all moved on.

    Oh Joanna ~ I'm so sorry I didn't see this ~ I must have lost my "subscribe" function to your blog.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your Mum....you know, I think even when we know that the situation is not promising, we STILL continue to hold out hope and pray for recovery. I can see how you'd believe that she was going to get better. Life does go on ~ and tho she's gone, you'll always have her in your heart. hugs.

Today's Weigh-in - Wow!

I totally thought I was going to gain today but I didn't! I lost 1.1 pounds! Woohoo! I guess having a couple of bad days isn't so bad after all.

And, yesterday was our bi-monthly management meeting which I have to go to to take minutes and we always have these wicked danishes but I didn't have any. All I had was half a carrot muffin and I only had that because these meetings always happen at the time of day when I'm getting hungry since breakfast (10 a.m. to noon). So, good for me. It obviously worked.

    YAY!!! that's like over 5 pounds in a couple weeks girl! See, it all averages out. You should be very proud of yourself for not partaking in the Wicked danishes! congrats on that too. Work food can really do a number on the diet and you controlled it! have a great week!

Bad Day Yesterday

I didn't exercise and the healthiest thing I ate was one apple, couple of cubes of pineapple, two strawberries, two baby carrots, 2 cauliflower florets, 3 slices of red pepper and one slice of vegetarian pizza.

I also ate lots of Timbits and cookies and dessert squares.

I was at a bridge tournament and the choices were limited (I brought my own apple). And, we didn't even do well (middle of the pack - 11 tables in the morning session and second to last (16th) in the afternoon session!

The first paragraph doesn't make it sound so bad after all. Although the rest of what I ate wasn't very good for me!

And, this morning, even though I've had a headache since I got up, I made myself do the 2-mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD. The best part of that is that I listen to my own tunes on my iPod because frankly, I'm tired of Leslie Sansone's spiel! The first song I heard on my iPod was Locomotive Breath by Jethro Tull and that got me motivated.

    I agree, don't guilt out about it ~ it doesn't sound near as bad as some of my bad days lol.......You know, a lot of times, working out really helps me to get rid of my headaches ~ it must losen up the tension. Hey, maybe you need a new workout if you are tired of Leslie Sansone's spiel ~ I did her walks a couple times, but ~ true ~ it can get old. Does your library rent dvds? sometimes you can borrow workouts and get a chance to try them out before purchasing. I like Kathy Smith's workouts, and some of the Preventative Health workouts, and there are some good workouts that are divided up into 10 minute segments that are great for when you don't have a lot of time. But still ~ it's great that even tho you didn't feel so hot you Did it~! Hope you have a great week!

    Awww, don't let it get you down! We all have those days, just forget about it and move on. It's ok to eat some crap every once in a while anyway. If most of the time you are eating healthy and exercising but only occasionally skip exercising or eat some junk it's really ok. Guilt only causes anxiety, which may cause other problems (among them overeating), so don't go there.

I'm down 4½ pounds this week for a total of 21½ pounds lost since January! Now, I just have to keep it off until my next weigh-in. That's the real challenge.

Obviously, my new resolve worked. I exercised a minimum of 30 minutes for 5 days in the last week. And, even though, we went out for my work's Christmas dinner and I ate much more than I usually do, I still tracked it and felt like I hadn't done too badly. And, I drank my water.

I just looked at my progress charts for nutrition and they seem to be all over the place but maybe that's good for me for weight loss. Who knows?

    YAY!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! jumping around and hollering for ya! Oh Joanna, I'm SO happy for you!!!! YAY! that's fanTabulous! wow! I KNEW you were going to do it this week.....weight-loss does not go by the rules ~ sometimes it's slow to catch up with all the hard work you do and makes you wait forever...but this week~ WoHOOO! Congrats hun!

You say your nutrition charts are all over the place ~ I agree ~ who knows. I know that when I'm going along 'steady-eddy', it's like my body just adapts and doesn't want to change....but if I do lots of different things with exercise and diet, sometimes it gets confused and drops the weight.

Well, this was a wonderful thing to read today...Congrats Joanna! ya done good.
