Happy New Year

It is January 1, 2009 and it is a really beautiful day here in North Carolina. It is cold but very pretty. I have not been doing to well on my diet and exercise the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I exercised for 30 minutes and it was like starting all over again so I guess that is what I am doing. My goal this week is to exercise every day and I have also joined the boot camp with Coach Nicole so I will see how that goes!

My goals for 2009 are as follows:
Drink my water 12-15 cups a day
Exercise Monday thru Friday at least 30 minutes a day.
Strenght training - I have not done this too much so my goal is twice a week
Eat my veggies and fruit.
Continue to get enough sleep.
Stay with Spark People and try to become more of a team member in some of the teams.
Try to be a motivator to other people like they have been to me.

Food, food, food, everywhere I look there is more food! I have been to parties and such every day this week and if I keep eating everything, I am going to have to get rid of the LOST 15 Pounds picture! I just ate some celery to try to fill my stomach a bit before my next dinner, hopefully that will help. I also have not been able to exercise this week thanks to the crummy weather, and the clutter that fills my floor, all of the Christmas gifts waiting to be wrapped and the wrapping paper and oh my goodness it is driving me crazy!

On another note, this is also a joyous time to be thankful and also to reflect. Parts of me are sad because I lost my Grandma on Dec. 18, 2001 and my best friend and cousin on December 26, 2003. It amazes me how much I still miss them but I know that they are in a better place. But at the same time I am so thankful that I still have both of my parents and the rest of my family and friends to celebrate with.

I went to a family reunion over Thanksgiving and we had over 40 family members together and it really blows my mind when I look a the little children and how much some of them resemble my grandma and also how some of them look just like me when I was a child. It was really fun to be able to see everyone and play with the 20+ children that were running around.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

    Hello Betsy,
I wish you a Very Merry Christmas also. Well I only went to one party and that was one from my job. It was nice and I ate healthy. Soup, Salad and Fish w/cranberries (sounds weird but was delicious).

I am also trying to get in the spirits of the Christmas season. My mothers one year anniversary into Heaven is 12/24. She passed away the morning of 12/24/07. My family to holding strong and we plan on getting together on Christmas Eve and go to the cemetery, then out to dinner "thats going to be fun because it is a ton of us...over 25 altogether". My brother does not want us to mourn all day so he suggested that we get out of the house and go to dinner instead of hanging around the house. I still don't have decorations, tree anything up yet.

On another note, I just wanted to talk to you and saw your blog and figured I'd just respond to you here.

I really don't have much to blog about but I haven't made a blog in so long I decided now or never.

Thanksgiving was really nice but long. We drove from NC to NJ and it took us about 11 hours with all of the traffic. My cousin had 40 relatives for dinner and he did a great job. It was nice to see all of my cousins, cousins kids, Aunts and Uncles. Quite wild with about 20 kids running around!

The good news is that I did not gain any weight, the bad news is that I did not lose any weight either emoticon I also have not been doing very well with my exercise either but I plan to get back on track. It seems like too much is going on with concerts and Christmas decorations but hopefully, things will slow down a bit again.

I have been walking to a Leslie Sansone DVD and I really like her. She is not real cheesy and not too crazy. For the first time in my life I am actually liking some sort of exercise!

I still think that spark people is the greatest site I ever found.


A New Week

I did not do very good this weekend with my diet and exercise. It was rainy and cold so I did not do any walking and for some reason I could not get myself motivated to exercise inside.

But it is a new day and I plan on walking at least 1 mile today during my lunch break. I dropped one pound last week and that sort of depressed me. I wish it would come off just a little bit faster.

I am taking this cholesterol thing seriously because I do not want to be put on any more crazy medications.

I am walking and exercising every day, and I am watching everything that I eat and I am eating oatmeal every morning for breakfast and an apple a day. I am also taking red rice yeast pills which is supposed to help lower your cholesterol. I am hoping that when I go to see Dr. Moore in February that we will see my cholesterol much lower.

I have found that it is much easier to watch my diet, drink my water and exercise on the days that I am working. It seems like the weekends get so crazy that I skip breakfast and then eat too much for lunch. That is going to be a new goal for me to make sure that I eat breakfast every day.

    Betsy I am going to join the Cholesterol Team that you are on. I need help in that area also. I am also so busy during the weekend, I would get so caught up in getting everything in order around the house and would finally realize that I didn't eat anything.

We need to tie a string on our finger to remind us to eat because its....breakfast/lunch/dinner or snack time.
