New Goals Set

Today I signed up for my first race, a 10k in September. I originally set a goal for 14 minute/ mile. After talking to a coworker who runs marathons he challenged me to try for an pace of 11 minutes a mile. I am scared and intrigued at the same time. I will keep pushing a see where it goes.

A personal best

Its not a world record, but I am happy with my progress. I completed a 2.5 miles run/walk in 35 mins, a personal best. I am looking forward to thursday.

My strange addiction

I managed to get in 2.5 miles yesterday, despite a long work day. I have a long day ahead on me tomorrow but I plan to hit a spin class.

I have been working out pretty consistently these year, but I have not lost much weight. However I am addicted to the way I feel in loose clothing. My jeans are sagging a bit and I think I will have to retire two of my favorite pants in a few weeks. I am belting them now. The feel of fabric moving past my thighs when I walk is lovely. Usually my pants are on snug so there is no give.

This motivates me to keep going.

Baby steps

Last October I started training for a 5k, but life got in the way. Today I began training for a 10k. I have committed to running a race on labor day with a friend. Having someone else involved will definetly hold me accountable. I did intervals of walking 3.1 and running 4.8 of two minutes each for 30 mins. I then walked at the 3.4 speed for 27 minutes achieving 3 miles in 57 minutes. I wanted to quit sereval times but I kept going and I reminded myself that each step I took was a step toward becoming the me I wanted to be. Looking forward to Tuesdays run!
