Hard work & Determination!!

Monday, July 01, 2013

It's been about 35 days since I have started again in my weight loss journey! All I needed was a little hard work and determination to not give up or give in! I've been hitting the gym 5 days a week, lifting weights 2x a week and eating SOO much healthier!! I'm down 9 pounds already and couldn't be happier with the results!!!
I've got 75 more days and 17 pounds to go! I can do this!!!

Wedding Hair...My New Addition!

Monday, June 17, 2013

For the last 6 months, I have been looking and looking for a pretty hair piece to wear with my up-do...at my wedding, of course!!
Last weekend my Mom went to an antique show and called to say she found tons of hair pieces! She sent me tons of pictures, and I fell in love with one! Then she bought it for me! Such a great Mom!! I'm so excited to wear it in my hair!!! It's seriously sooo beautiful! I was thinking about wearing a veil in my hair as well, but I am thinking now that I don't wanna steal the show away from my piece!!

It's beautiful. I think you could wear a veil under your hair if you were having an updo. I assume the hairpiece would be on the upper side. That would create a little distance between the veil and hairpiece, making the hairpiece stand out more and the veil being more of an accent. If you were leaving your hair mostly loose, I don't think a veil would work. I did my veil on the underside of my hair with no hair piece, but I think that the one you have shown here would have been an improvement.

    Very pretty!!

Tough call, might want to try it in the shop with a veil. It definitely depends on you. I am not a veil person, so I am opting out, but I am not sure it would take away from the piece if you were to wear a veil, you also might find that you don't want to wear it during the reception, and just do a veil for the ceremony. That way you have the best of both worlds.

My healthy lifestyle took a backseat to my relationship!

Thursday, June 06, 2013

So here I am...over a year later...what happened??
When I look back at where I was say almost 2 years ago, I was in the best shape of my life, but I was still missing something. I was alone, very lonely and so I had nothing better to do then work out all the time. I met the love of my life in March of 2012. From the moment we met, I didn't want to be away from him! He is the best thing that could have EVER happened to me!!
We got engaged in July of 2012 and then he got orders to move to Colorado in April 2013. Being that he is Air Force, it is MUCH MUCH easier for me to move with him as a wife instead of a fiancÚ....so July 30, 2012 we got married at the court house.
We have been together now for over a year and we are about 2 months away from being married for a year! It has truly been the best year and 3 months of my life!
That being said....I got very comfortable with him and work got VERY crazy and stressful and I lost my motivation to maintain my "healthy" lifestyle. Then we moved, and let me tell you, living out of a hotel room for 2 months sucks!!! I put on at least 10 pounds in those 2 months!

I knew I was gaining the weight back...and part of me cared and then part of me what just to tired to do anything about it. So here is where my major "Oh S**t" moment came in and I finally came back to my senses....
We are having our real wedding ceremony/reception in September. I already have a beautiful dress picked out and it's hanging in a closet upstairs. My mom made a comment a few weeks ago..."Gee...I hope your dress still fits"...Let me tell you how much that one hurt! So, last week, I tried it on and sure enough...It doesn't fit anymore. I think I spent most of the day crying. My husband was very supportive and said all the right things. So Tuesday last week, I got my sh*t back together! Because let me tell you...I will NOT have that dress taken out!!! This is my MAJOR motivation!!

So, here I go again....I have done this once before, so I Know I can do it again!
I have managed to put on 40 pounds in the last year and 3 months...so now I am working to get it back off!!
I think I strayed away from Spark people because I didn't want people to think of me as a failure. Then I realized that, I am not the only one that this happens to...and the best way to get through it is to open up and share my story!
My first goal is to lose probably 10 to 20 pounds to get back into that dress and then about 20 more to get back down to 130 pounds!
I've lost about 3 pounds last week, so I think I am starting off strong!!
Wish me luck!! Time to get my healthy body back!!!

We got our engagement pictures taken in Nov. 2012...This one is my absolute favorite!!!

Welcome back to SP! This is definitely the place to come for support!! No finger pointing or judging here! We've all been through what you've been through as far as the ups and downs with our weight. The good thing is that you've caught yourself. You had a tearful realization that was your breaking point, but now you're back on track and I KNOW you'll reach your goal!
Love the picture, btw! So sweet!!

Jillian Workout Update

Sunday, October 30, 2011

So it's been a little over 2 weeks since I started my Jillian Workout Plan. I am LOVING the results that I am seeing so far! Since I started I have lost 2 inches on my waist and hips!!! It's pretty much awesome!!
So now I want to go bigger and better and I am adding the Killer Buns and Thighs DVD to my workout. I will now incorporate 4 DVD's in a 5 day workout plan. My butt and thighs are something that need to be toned up, and I think this new DVD is really gonna do the trick! If I can keep this up for the next couple months, my body should be rockin' solid in no time!!! Jillian totally rocks my world!! LOL

That's on my wish list, as well as the upcoming Extreme Shred. Right now I'm in week 2 of her Ripped in 30. She does produce results... even after one week, I notice subtle changes & feel generally better & leaner.

Early AM or Late Night PM workouts??

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Which one is better...maybe more efficient, an early morning work out or a late night one before going to bed? I had some extra energy after getting off of work, so I decided to rock out one of my Jillian Workouts. I have a hard time getting up early in the morning, so I thought this may be good.
But still leaves me wondering....which is better??? Thoughts anyone??

When I worked sporadically I liked to get my workout in in the morning. I like to complete my weekend workouts in the morning now, too. However, I am not *that* early of a riser to workout before work, so during the week I workout in the evenings after work.

I'd say- whatever works for you and keeps you going, then do it!

I think, as long as you get it in, it's all good. I usually work out at night. But the other night, when I went to bed, my heart was beating really hard and I had a hard time getting to sleep. But that's only happened the one time. So far, the evening workout work for me. Happy Halloween weekend! ...Not too much candy, now... All things in moderation! Hope you have a great weekend! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon

I've no choice to workout at night, but I love it and I get tired so it helps me sleep better. Have fun no matter wht you do!

I agree with it's when you feel best to work out. I have heard working out at night can keep you up since it can give you energy but if you can sleep - go for what works!

The best time to work out is when you prefer to work out. If you have a hard time getting up in the morning, you are more likely to skip your workouts. Do what is best for you and your schedule.

I work out in the AM...I am a morning person, so I get up before 5 and work out for an hour before everyone gets up and then we get ready for work & school. This way at night, I dotn have to worry if I'm too tired to work out. And I'm more energized throughout the day. But you have to do what works for you. If you would rather do it after work, then thats what works for you. Sometimes I do yoga when I'm really stressed and need to relax at night.

I think either will be just as good for your body. I know that personally, I like to workout in the morning. I feel like I start my day off right. I am more awake at work. And I tend to eat healthier throughout the day because I feel like I worked too hard in the morning to scuander it on junk food.
I also find that I have a better chance of going if I do it first thing in the morning. I have a tendency to either talk myself out of going after work or make other obligations.
Like I said, either time will be beneficial for your body bc exercise is good for you no matter what time. It just comes down to what suits you best. :)
Goodluck!

Ultimately you have to do what fits into your schedule.
If you get into the habit of morning exercise, even if it's only 20-30 minutes, you will get a lot of benefits - sleep better at night, extra energy during the day, fewer missed workouts due to schedule conflicts, burn off fat calories before breakfast, wash/shower once instead of twice, option of getting in another workout later in the day, and more.
If you workout in the evening you can work off some of dinner's calories, warm of the body and stretch before settling down to sleep (some people find it hard to go to sleep after a workout), have something to look forward to during the day...
So do what works for you. Any movement and activity counts!
