I stepped on the scale this AM...and it said I had GAINED a pound this week! YIKES! So, I haven't done an official weigh in this week; I'm going to get back on the scale tomorrow morning and see if that nasty ol' scale still says I gained a pound. I just don't think I put on weight last week. I don't see how...I stuck to my plan for least until I had the martinis over the weekend. But, I did overdo on the fat a little last week that probably didn't help either. Oh well, I'll just give it one more try tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm now back in Phase 2 of South I can now start to add in some fruit and grains. The only new food I added in today was some fruit flavored, articficially sweetened yogurt. \ Tomorrow, it's whole grain brown rice. I'm not sure what it will be the rest of week, but that may be enough for right now.

Now, I just need to start adding in the exercise. That will really help me get the metabolism going again. I guess it's back to getting up early to do it. Morning really is the best time for me to work out...if I can just get my lazy booty out of bed to do it. Good intentions don't count!

    I have lost touch witchu! I need to subscribe to your blog to keep up with you and to see how you are faring at your job and such! I kind of fell off the wagon with South Beach although I still believe. I now make my spark home at WorkingMoms. Keep in touch if you read this message!

    Good for you for getting back to the Beach! I haven't gotten there yet -- didn't see the point with a birthday in early January...but pretty soon. I just haven't been losing -- and then I went out of town last weekend, and wasn't really that bad, but the scale said 5 lbs more than when I'd left. just may be time to shoot the scale.

Good going with the gradual additions of things...I think I want to go too fast on that part. Have a great weigh-in next time! emoticon

Success! 7 Pounds!

It's official! I lost 7 pounds in one week!


Week 2 of South Beach Phase 1 is well underway. I got in a few more calories thanks to a cheap Chinese Lunch (sans refried rice...that was a sacrifice!) I didn't eat quite as many veggies as I normally would, but I still got in my 5 servings and all of my water as well!

But, I gotten back on track and I'm going to stay on track this time!

YEAH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still managing to stay on the Beach....I'm still struggling to get in all may calories while keeping the fat grams in the target zone. But, add in some skim milk, and that usually does the trick.

But, I haven't been exercising...I just can't motivate myself enough to move. That is going to be the real the struggle for me. But, I'll be able to get in some movement tomorrow. I"ve got to clean up the house and get my closet/bedroom cleaned up. It's been so hectic, I haven't been able to pack up my summer clothes and get out my winter things. So I have to take care of that tomorrow. But, baby steps first. I got in two workouts this week; next week I'll get in four.

Things went well at the gynocologist. He was very pleased with the weight loss! And the scale there confirmed mine...I have lost 5 pounds since Monday! Of course, this isn't official until Monday morning and I step on the scale for the weekly weigh in. Right now, I'm hoping for another pound will bite the dust this weekend.

Guess that's about it for today. Keep on sparking everyone!

Day Three...and I Feel Fine!

Third day is done...and I feel fabulous! I've managed to get in all my calories, stay within my fat limits (which is the hardest part of Phase One) and nearly gotten enough fiber...without the fiber suppliments (another hard part of Phase One). I didn't do my workout this morning; my dog baby got me up at 4:30 to go outside, and I managed to sleep right through the alarm. So, I just did my 30 minute Shred routine and strength work out while I watch Law and Order on TNT. Then, my beloved Vols BB team is playing at I can have guilt free evening vegging in front of the TV.

I'm going in to my gynocologist tomorrow emoticon and he is going to be very pleased that I've dropped nearly 40 pounds since my last exam. He lost about 70 pounds about 4 years ago and has managed to keep it off. I'm eager to step on the scales at his office...I'm not too sure how reliable my scale is. So I'm curious to see if I've lost as much weight as I think I have.

I know you're not supposed to obsess on the number of pounds lost, but I've been a trifle obsessive about it this week. I've gotten on the scale every morning this week, and according to it, I've already lost 4.5 lbs. ()For those of you who aren't on using South Beach, in Phase 1, you lose pounds quickly in the first 2 weeks. So, I guess 4.5 lbs. is probably right. But, I won't officially weigh in until Monday...

Guess that's about it today. Keep on sparkin' everyone!

Day One on the Beach

Well. I'm back on South Beach Phase 1. Day one is nearly done. I've eaten my 4.5 Cups of veggies, had my 8 glasses of water...but no exercise. My intentions are good however. I intend to get up early in the morning and do the Jillian Michals 30 Day Shred before I go to work. If I exercise first thing in the morning, I have no excuse to not exercise working late, or just too tired to move my big butt.

Anyway, I got stepped on the scale this morning, and saw that I had gained back 4 pounds over the last month. I guess that's the holiday weight that Santa Claus always drops down the chimney. But, at least with Phase One, you can lose those pounds fast...the last time I think I lost 7 pounds in the first 2 weeks.

I'm glad to be back! Now, let's see if I can get my butt up in the morning and get it moving. Gotta get that metabolism back up! I want to get this last 50 pounds off by my birthday in September!

    go for it!! you can do it!! I love the SouthBeach protein meal bars..they are a regular part of my nutrition plan...a bit pricey...but worth it.
