Days 3 and 4 of my journey

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Happy Easter everyone!! Today I celebrate my 36th birthday also. Today I have decided I am going to set a goal. I want to be under 300 lbs by the time I go see my Dr on October 4th. I want to walk in and be at least 299 lbs. I know this will take hard work but this can be done. I have not been able to do much for exercise this week since having the surgery so I am keeping my blogs real short and combining days. I have been doing a lot of research online on workouts and especially weight lifting. If anyone knows of some good workouts feel free to share. I belong to gym so that's not a problem finding equipment.

Day 2 of my journey March 29, 2013

Friday, March 29, 2013

Hello all!! I am writing this a day late but still want to keep up with it so will do 2 blogs today. This blog is for yesterday. Today I had my surgery and all went well. I am a little sore today. I asked the doctor how long I should wait to hit the gym. He told me to wait until I had one week of rest. This week I will have to make sure I keep within my calories and eat healthy. I stayed within my calories today. I did not have a big appetite today. Well not much to blog about today.

March 27 2013 Blog 1 of my journey

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

I have blogged before a few times but today I made up my mind that I am going to blog everyday. I feel this helps me a lot and makes me feel accountable. I want to update a little on myself and whats going on. I am 35 years old. I am 6 ft 7 inches tall and I weigh appx 354. I will weigh in again on Saturday. I weigh in every Saturday morning. I am married to a wonderful wife and have 4 great children. I live in Yankton SD, the hometown of Tom Brokaw. I work in manufacturing. My weight has been a struggle most my life. I have tried many times to lose it and I have not been successful. One time I lost about 45 lbs and gave up. I have found that once you cheat on a diet that its hard to get back on track, My wife on the other hand just recently lost 75 lbs by watching what she eats and excercising without a gym membership. I feel that now is the time for me to step it up. I recently joined Anytime Fitness gym and I have been going there quite often and am enjoying it quite a bit. I recently had an injury at work due to the work I do. I come down with tennis elbow so that has slowed down my lifting at the gym. I still do cardio everyday. This week will be a slow week as I am going in for a lovely vasectomy tomorrow but next week I should be going in all 4 gears. I use sparkpeople and also myfitnesspal. I like myfitnesspal for logging food due to the larger data base it seems to have. I also like to use bodybuilding.com for workouts for weight lifting. I find spark very helpful and its so nice to get help from others on here. Well thats about all I have for now. I will be geading to the gym tonight for some cardio. I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter!!! By the way I am not the greates writer so excuse the spelling and no paragraphs!!

Thank you for the new links for me to try. And, really, there is a bigger food database out there? I thought this one was huge. Anyway, hope you have a great week, even with the surgery.

Excuses, excuses, excuses!!!

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Excuses!! What a bad word!! I was doing so well I went from 377 down to 336. I was taking fiber pills as a supplement and was doing great. The end of October I got really sick and had terrible stomach pains. I went to the doctor and found out I was plugged up. The fiber pills actually worked against me instead of for me. Every since then I seem to have given up hope on weight loss. Well the problem has been fixed I still couldn't get back on board. The doctor recommended eating one container of Activia yogurt a day. This is something I firmly believe in and recommend to every one. Then came the holidays and I obviously used that as an excuse. My wife has been dieting and using a combination of sparkpeople and my fitness pal and has lost 65 pounds since April 1. So now she is trying to get me going. Today I enter back into the world of change. I am going to get back on track and get healthy. I feel if a person wants it bad enough you will get it done. But you have to want it. I WANT IT!! Any recommendations for exercise in the house when weather is so cold outside??

What I do is a calisthenics circuit. Pushup, squats, lunges, Jumping jacks. I do sets of 20-25 and do 4 rounds of it. Good combo that will get your heart rate up and build muscle. Don't beat yourself up on the set back just keep going from here!

I would recommend the spark videos as well when you can't get outside :) You have the right mindset and I find losing weight is just as much about your mental state as anything. We all stumble the important thing is you recognize it and your getting back up !! emoticon

I use the stability ball against the wall, I also run up and down the basement stairs. Scrubbing the floors on my hands and knees is a MAJOR cardio workout, the more you weigh, the harder it is..

I have a treadmill in the basement too.. ANy workout DVD is great ,, there are ones that are not girly-girl ones.. Nicole has some good workouts on the videos,, Check them out.. Put some towels or clothes in a trash bag, put the bag in front of you, bend over, lift it over your head, then to your tummy, then back to the floor.. Anything with weight to lift... be creative if you cannot afford equipment like me.. it is 2 degrees here right now,, lift those bags!! Drink that water!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

40 lbs down!!!

Saturday, October 20, 2012

I have been on and off Sparkpeople for most the year. The last 2 months I put down all excuses and gave it all. I have now lost 40 lbs since the first of the year. I went to doctor 8 weeks ago and was told to get on track since my blood pressure was getting high. I weighed in that day at 369. I then started to push hard. I lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks and weighed in at 349 my next dr appt. I then got put on meds for my high bp and this motivated me more yet. Today I went in to have BP check and weighed in at 336.6. I am so pumped!! I lost 33 lbs in 8 weeks. Sad thing is I could be well onto my goal if I would have went hard all year. The past is the past so now I look for good things to come. 36 more pounds to go by January 1. Lets get this!! I want it and want it bad!! I wont stop after this goal is met either.
