Memory verse for the week of July 4

Sunday, July 04, 2010

Hello and praise the Lord my brothers and sisters in Christ. Happy 4th of July! I pray that God has blessed each and everyone of you with a wonderful holiday!

Father God
We come together once again to thank You for all the blessings you have bestowed on us as a people and a nation. Please continue to watch over America and it's people and to lead the people in prayer and worship of You through Your Son, Jesus Name.
In His Name
Amen

This week's verve comes from 2 2 Chronicles 7:14:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

This word was given to the people of Israel by God but it goes for us here today in America. This great country was started by people who wanted the freedom to serve God and our forefathers based their laws on the laws from God. And this country has gone through many trials and tribulations but God has always watched over America.
But now we see that God is no longer welcome here in America. We can no longer pray in public now. Our children can't pray in school. We have more respect for other religions than we do for the God who has watched over and protected this country since it's birth. We throw our sins in His face and we do things that He has specifically told has not to do. God is no longer respected or loved by the people of America. But we wonder why America is going through such a rough time now! Wall Street collapsing, people losing jobs all across the land. Fighting battles all over the world and making enemies of countries we once called friends. Natural disasters in places where we never had such disasters. And I could go on and on, but we as Christians understand why this is happening and we stand in the gap for our country in prayer. But God wants the country the call on Him. He wants us to repent of our sins and acknowledge that He is God and that He is All Mighty and that we NEED Him! Badly!
And when we do that, He promises us that He will hear from heaven and hear us! And you know what? That goes for us as individuals. That promise goes for us too! When we give up our sins and ask God to forgive up, He will hear from heaven and help us according to His Prefect Will!
So please remember this word my friends. Keep it close to your heart and trust in His promise! And keep our loving country, America and your daily prayers. We really need it.
In Jesus Name
Amen

Greg you are right on. Have you gotten your verse in e-mails asking for us all to pray for our country?? I have and the e-mails are good. I keep praying but also feel that this is why we're not mentioned in the end times we won't exist as a super power, which I kind of think is happening now. I hope our Lord & Savior comes soon. I'm listening for trumpet as it seems like one world gov't is near with all the different countries falling with their own economies.
Great blog. Thank you for sharing, keep praying and listening and also being a light in the dark world!

Greg, this has been among my favorite verses since the first time I heard it. And I think of it so often now as I see what is going on in our country. And not only in the whole country, but even in the immediate area I live in. It is so obvious that when people turn their backs on God, nothing but chaos and confusion can abound. Thank you for this blog, and I pray that this country will wake up, and that they will indeed call upon God.

God bless you richly in Jesus' name.

Memory verse for the week of June 13

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Hello and praise the Lord friends and welcome to the memory verse for the week. Thank you all for stopping by.

Father God
Thank You for allowing us to go through the past week to meet here once again to share Your Word. Bless him that shares this lesson and bless those who read this. We thank You and Praise You
In Jesus Name
Amen

This week's word come to us for John 16:33:

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

I thank God for reminding me of this promise from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The one thing that jumps right out to me is that Jesus tells us that we shall have tribulation in this life. We were never promise a trouble free life. We are going to have troubles and hurt and pain and disappointments in life, but no matter what we are going through, Jesus has overcome it at the cross! There is nothing that we are going through that He cannot take care of it for us. I know that whatever I am going through in life is only for a season. I know that once I am called home, I will forget all about it when I see all that Jesus has in store for me in Heaven. He has overcome so I don't have to worry about what is going on in my life. We have to just remember, No matter what we are going through, you can and will overcome it through Jesus Christ!
In Jesus Name
Amen

It seems like my life always has trials and tribulations. It's so easy to forget God in the midst of problems. People say, "why doesn't God just take the problems away without the need for us to deal with them in the first place?" I don't have the complete answer for that. But I know that while problems in today's world can become overwhelming, without God, I am nothing. I don't ever receive an understanding or purpose to problems, I don't have a positive feeling and I am not grateful for being whom I am, where I live or who I have that loves me. God reminded me of that recently. Being a mere human, once again, I'd forgotten His love and more than that, looking to Him ALWAYS for guidance.
The Spirit filled me and made me remember that what I am, is only because of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Lord! emoticon emoticon

yes....a very true and great reminder. In this life we will have many trials and tribulations. Just because we are children of the Most High doesnt give us free ride. But what we do have that others dont is HOPE that we will overcome if we endure to the end (with Him). Of course, He is the one who holds us to the end for we cannot do anything of our own accord, He is faithful to complete the work that he has begun in us! He is worthy to be praised!

So true, we are strengthened daily by the tribulations we go through. But we have the promise they will end soon. Just hold on to our faith and the Lord during those times.

I wonder if when life gets extra hectic, if it's just the Lord gentle reminder to us to turn to Him first. I know I get so bogged down with daily junk, He is the last person I turn to, when He should be the first person I go to. So it feels like I am driven to the point to where I have no choice but to turn to Him during these times.

Sorry for rambling. I hope this made sense.

Memory verse for the week of May 30

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

Hello and Praise the Lord my friends. I would like to welcome you back to the Memory verse of the week. I know it has been a while since we last got together here to share God's Word and for that I apologize. But now we are here again and I Pray that all are blessed by the word that God has given me to share.

Father God
I thank You for being back here with Your children and my friends. I thank You for all that You have done for me and I thank You for what you are going to do for me and all who read this lesson. Use me to Your Glory Lord, I pray
In Jesus Name
Amen

This week's verse is from John 14:1
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me."

This verse has been very helpful to me in the past couple of weeks as I have been going through some ups and downs in my life. As a child of God, I believe that He has is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. And in the same vein, I also believe in His Son, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And if I believe in Him I should also trust in His promises to me that He has given to me through His Word. When I was going through the rough times, for a moment there, I forgot what I have been told in the Word. How God is always with me, no matter what I am going through. That I have the Holy Spirit living and working in me. That I can always come to Him when I am lost and need help. If I say that I trust and believe in God the Father, then I also must believe in God the Son! And if I believe in the Son, then I must believe in His Word because He is the Word! John 1:1-2 tells us "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God." That verse is talking about Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Word and we have the Word with us everyday and if we stay in the Word, when we go through the trials the troubles in life, we can always go to the Word and by doing that, we are going to Jesus.
I am thankful for the rough times, because they show us who we need to always depend on when those time come. I will be truthful and tell you that I tried to fix the problems myself and I fail miserably! But when I remembered that I believed in God and that i believed in Jesus and his Word and even though I am still going through it, I now am confident because I know that Jesus got my back!
Believe in Him who is with God and who is God and who was sent by God to be a Savior and a Comfort to us all!
In Jesus Name
Thank you

Trust in what and where He is leading you.

That said, I want to add it is easier said than done. When you are personally going through hardships of any kind, it feels like there is no end in sight. It is hard to say Trust in God and follow through. But He rewards those that do just that.

You will come through this refined by the fire. Pure Gold!
Praise the Lord.

Just to leave me on my own.

To conquer anything,

Greg, I want to say to you that it is during our trials and rough times that we have that we really get to know who God really is. I am learning so much from this past onslaught from the devil brought on by my ignorance and making wrong decisions just how much the Lord is with me and everyone every day. I am learning that when I stick to the letter of the law it does bring death and the Holy Spirit and following Him brings life and life ever lasting. I hope what I am saying to you makes sense. I am now walking in a new deeper revelation of the love of God, I hope this is what it is and not another trick of the devil. All I can do is step out in faith and see what happens which will let me know if I am right or wrong with this new revelation. I pray for the body of Christ to remain steadfast in His word and at the same time be led of His Holy Spirit because the word and the Spirit testify of each other and the Lord Jesus. In the name of Jesus I declare this for the body of Christ. Walk in love and faith. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

There was someone who recently asked about Job and my pastor pointed out to me that Job IS angry about all of the craziness that is going on in his life and because of that relationship that he has with God, he CAN be angry when he prays.

It really is part of that great plan.

One of the sayings I like to use is Some days you are the baby and some days you are the diaper. I relate it that some days we need to pick up our brothers and some days our brothers pick us up.

on my blog I put the lyrics I found very inspiring... it goes like this:
You get bumped and bruised and worse for choosing the road less travelled,
you know the reward is rich if you persist through the darkest battles,
open your eyes, the prize is right before you
somehow, whatever you do... just don't miss now!

I hope that blesses you this day.

So sorry to hear your problems...I did miss you, but well...family problems of my own and I had not been on for a while either. God is faithful to us and I, too, need to stop trying to do His job....The enemy loves to blindside me...things were beginning to look up for me and yesterday I was happy for the first time in a month...then youngest daughter called crying...her ex is serving papers for full custody of their son....I find myself crying and worrying still, but God loves us and wants what is best for us...
Pray ing for a healing in our families.

Late Night Thoughts

Friday, May 21, 2010

Hello SP Family
I am just sitting here at 2:30am in the morning and I am thanking God for all that is going on in my life and in the life of my family. I am not totally happy with the state of my family right now. Things are going wrong in many areas right now. But I have come to the point where I have to let go and let God do His perfect will in my family's life. I have to let Him work in my oldest daughter's life and stop worrying about how she is living her life. I have to believe that He will take care of my youngest daughter as she gets ready for college this fall. I am trusting in Him that He will build up the relationship between my wife and myself.

There are many things going on in my life and it is time that I stop trying to do God's job. I am weak and powerless to make the changes that I want in my family's life. I am going to have rely on the awesome power of God to do what He wants to be done! So this is a notice to myself : let go and let God!

I want to thank each and everyone of you who prayed for me and my family. I read every comment and I want you to know that I felt the love from each one. I have missed you all and it is time for me to come back and be with my Spark Family! I am not ok with everything yet, but I know that with God, I am more than OK. I am truly blessed!
Thank you for letting me vent. I feel better now
In Jesus Name
Greg

I just got back from a SparkBreak yesterday, Greg, and am sorry that I missed being here to lend support though you are in good hands! When our kids get to be that old we have to let go but God has a call on their lives and He will let them go only so far before He pulls them back. It's tough on us parents but a time to grow in faith, too!

Hugs & prayers,

Hi... I am so sorry to hear that you are having family problems, but you are right to "let go and let God"... I have found, especially this past year, when my son turned 19 years old, that I have to let him make more decisions on his own... He is my only child, diabetic and not a child of the street. So when he is out, I pray that God watches over him in these mean streets and that he heeds the lessons that I have tried to teach him...

He is a great person and I just want the best for him, as I am sure that you want the same for your daughter... But there comes a point when you have to believe that you have done the very best that you could do and let it be... Of course, I will still voice my opinions, but I am trying to do it in a kinder, gentler, less demanding way... and to "really listen" to him when he voices his opinion...

You are doing a wonderful job and although I don't know you personally, I feel from our correspondence that you are a very caring and sensitive person who loves his family very much... so you keep the faith and believe that everything will be ok... and it will!...

Keeping you in my prayers and sending you mucho emoticon...

Take care my emoticon... ~ Dee ~ emoticon

Please remember the enemy has limits! He cannot succeed because of the matchless power of God. We continue to claim victory as we let go and let God have his way. While things may not be to our liking or even our understanding, we trust God.

Praying for and expecting a breakthrough!

My prayers are also added for you and your family. I hope this quote isn't too corny for you, or out of place but I think it might help you.
"If you allow yourself to be enchanted by the beauty to be seen in even ordinary things, then all things prove to be extraordinary."
God bless you, I hope you have a peaceful weekend.

Greg, as evident by the many friends who are posting here, you are not going through this battle alone. You have the support of so many of us whose lives you've touched through SP. Thank you for the strong Christian witness you are. You don't hesitate to support, encourage, and pray for us when we need it; now it's our turn, brother. We're lifting you up in prayer, along with your loved ones. May you each feel the Lord's presence in a special way, and may He guide your steps. I am also praying for unity for your family.

I'm sorry you are going through family difficulties. I have been through some very horrible family situations and know how painful and confusing they can be, especially for a Christian. I did not understand what I went through. Decades ago I even got angry at God for a time as I suffered terribly. I overcame that anger with His help, and went through more horrible family trials. I now accept that whether or not I understand or like it, He is God. He knows what He is doing. He is not responsible for all our suffering and has given us a lot of dominion here in this life. We must stand by faith and on His Word. I continue to go through difficult family circumstances, but now I know I can still have peace, joy and love in my heart. The more we fill ourselves up with Him, the more peace and joy we have. I also learned we must be good to ourselves. we must know that there are times when we need to grieve. I try to make such times easier on myself by doing whatever I can to make it easier. Just special things that are meaningful to me. I will be praying for you. I pray things work out as you desire and that you have peace and joy no matter what. I pray you are resting in the Lord for He cares for you.
God bless you, in Jesus name. Amen!

Greg, you have been missed! REading your blog is just a reminder that Christians have trials, we are not exempt; but the Lord delivers us out of them all! Hold fast to your faith; as you go through trials, your faith will carry you through and light the path for non-believers as well. Remember you never walk alone, no matter how dark and limited your vision--God is ever present--just believe it. "this to shall pass" my brother and you will be stronger because of it!
In christ,

Greg, thank you for giving us the opportunity to pray with (for) you and your family. I know it is TOUGH to let go and truly give your children over to the Lord, eagerly anticipating HIS will and timing in their lives. It's PAINFUL! But it's also so rewarding. God grant you the peace you need and deserve. I agree with Missy: God is planning to use you in an even mightier way than He already does, and this is the preparation. My prayers are with you.

As you and I have discussed many times, it is in our weakness that He is made strong. Such is this season of life. I truly believe you are on the precipice of a great work for God. He is preparing you for that, allowing all the arenas of your life to rely upon Him and Him alone. I count it such joy to walk this journey at your side, to behold the lavish blessings of God upon you, body, soul, and spirit. Much, much love,

I'm glad to see you back and sorry to hear that all is not well at home. Sometimes in life we have to walk through fire but we must hold hope and have faith that we'll emerge victorious on the other side. God has wonderful plans for you and just as in the Footsteps poem, at the times when he seems less present are the times that he might be carrying you. Continue to trust in God, my friend, try not to worry, but continue to do what is expected of you with and for your family. I'm praying that everything will be alright soon.

I just finishes an amazing book "No Greater Glory: The Four Immortal Chaplains and the Sinking of the Dorchester in World War II." Four chaplains, one Jewish, three Christians from different denominations, last seen standing holding hands on the keel of a troop carrier attacked by a German sub. 900 men went into icy water off the coast of Greenland where no one could live for more than 12 minutes. The escort ships turned away and went after the sub. All of these chaplains had high hopes of serving the troops on the battlefield. A few short days on that voyage making friends, praying and preaching was all the service they saw. But how many men in those icy waters put their eyes on their chaplains and their faith in God, we sill never know. Our paths of service are so beyond our comprehension. You are a man of God, we all know that. Stand tall and firm, good friend.
