For those of us who are troubled

Psalms 3
1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

When David sung this psalm, his son was trying to kill him and take his kingdom. That is a terrible thing for a father to have to bear, his own son's betrayal. But even though David was going through this difficult time, he knew from where his help came. Even though there were those around him who were telling him there there was no help for him in God, David knew that God was his shield and his protector. The lifter of his head. And when David cry out to God, God heard him. When David cried himself to sleep, God awaken him. Because God was his sustainer and He knew that David would be victorious! And God's Grace was so uplifting to David, that he didn't care who his enemy was and how many there were, because he knew that God has saved him and that when you are saved by God, your enemy can't win!

This psalm touched me deeply this morning as I feel that my enemies have me surrounded. No, my children are not trying to take my kingdom emoticon, but it seems that the enemy is waging war with me very heavily these past couple of weeks. My spirit has been under constant attack and I must admit, I have been pushed back a little bit. But God, who is my Loving Father, has seen the attack and has seen that I am fighting, but I needed His help. And what did He do? He gave me the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God! Through His Word, He has lifted me up! And has reminded me that no matter what I am going through and no matter how bad it is looking to those on the outside, He has my back! And that in the end, I will have the victory, because God is my Father!

Are you going through a war right now? Are you sick? Are going going through problems in your family? With your spouse or children? Are you wondering how you are going to paid those bills this month or feed you family? Whatever your battle is right now, remember what they were telling David, "There is no help for him in God" Then remember who was born from the bloodline of David. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

God Bless you
In Jesus Name
Amen

I often wonder what we would do without David's psalms to give us such a perfect example of faith and love for God. There is nothing I have gone through or am going through that I cannot pray a psalm and know that God will listen to me, as He listened to David. I can think of no feeling I have ever felt that there is not a psalm to express those feelings. Oh, the blessings of His divine Word!!
Praying for you in your struggles, Greg. You are not alone, as you well know!

I thought this was cute!

Thursday, January 07, 2010

I friend sent this to me and I thought it was funny. Hope you like it too

Two little boys:

Two little boys, ages 8 and 10, were
excessively mischievous. They were always
getting into trouble and their parents knew all about it.

If any mischief occurred in their town,
the two boys were probably involved.

The boys' mother heard that a preacher
in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys.

The preacher agreed, but he asked to see
them individually. So the mother sent the 8 year old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see
the preacher in the afternoon.

The preacher, a huge man with a booming
voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly,

'Do you know where God is, son?'

The boy's mouth dropped open , but he
made no response, sitting there wide-eyed
with his mouth hanging open.

So the preacher repeated
the question in an even sterner tone,
'Where is God?'

Again, the boy made no attempt to answer.
The preacher raised his voice even more and shook
his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, 'Where is God?'

The boy screamed and bolted from the
room, ran directly home and dove into his closet,
slamming the door behind him.

When his older brother found him in the
closet, he asked, 'What happened?'

The younger brother, gasping for breath,
replied,'We are in BIG trouble this time,'
(I just LOVE reading this next line again and again:)

'GOD is missing, and they think we did it!'

Memory verse for the week of 01/03/10

Sunday, January 03, 2010

Hello and praise the Lord My friends and Happy New Year!

Time for the first Memory Verse of the week of the new year!

Father God
We thank You for blessing us with another year in which to serve and worship You. Lord God we ask that You continue to bless us with Your wisdom and knowledge so that we can understand Your Word and share it with others.
In Jesus Name we I pray
Amen

This weeks verse comes from James 2:20:
"But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?"

We all know that it is by faith in God through His Son, Jesus Christ, that we were saved from sin and death and that we how can look forward to living with God in eternity. But did you also know that now that you have been blessed with that God given Faith, you have work to do? Oh Yes! Before we were saved, no matter how much we "worked" towards salvation, we could never reach it on our own, but by hearing God Word and accepting the gift that was so freely offered to us, we are now saved. The only "work" we had to do was repent of our sins and give out lives to Christ and it was then that He did a work in us! He cleansed us of our sins and made us white as snow! Thank you Jesus!
But wait! We are not done. Once we became saved, Christ give us jobs or work we must do, through His Word. From the Sermon on the Mount to the Great Commission, Jesus gave us work to do in His Name. Through His disciples He continued to leave us work to do until He comes back.

That is why it is so important to read His Word so that we know what we have to do! We had the faith to give our lives to Him, now let's continue in that faith to do all that He commanded us to do. Do you life in faith every day no matter what is going on in your life? We must have it, because Heb 11: 6 tells us "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." We can not be pleasing to our God if we don't have total faith in Him.
Do you help those who are in trouble, poor, fatherless? We have to because James 2:8 says
"If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well;"
So what I am trying to say my brothers and sisters, Faith is just more than reading your Bible and going to church. It is about trusting God enough to do His works and stand in faith of His Word. In this new year of 2010, let us live it according to the faith we have been blessed with. Trust in Him who gave you that faith, know that His Word never comes back void. Remembering that He will never leave us nor forsake us. And sharing His Love with everyone because He shared His love with us!
This is a new year and we are going to do a new thing! Let us live as through this was the day that Christ comes! Let us work as if we knew the day of His arrival! And let us work so that we can hear those words, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord."
God Bless you
In Jesus Name
Amen

Your message made me cry because the Lord has spoken to me concerning these things this month. I listened to a podcast from an assembly of God church that was talking about the Holy Spirit's work in us. It was really eye opening to me because a lot I did not understand. One thing I learned is that the Holy Spirit gives the gifts of the Holy Spirit for us to bless the church, but most of the gifts were to preach the gospel, disciple people, and meet their needs empowered by the Holy Spirit. I was happy to understand this. I am going to call the pastor of that church and ask if anyone comes to church from my area so that I can get a ride there, or start taking a cab there every Sunday. Pray with me about this, because I want my kids to come with me.......God Bless You and Yours, and thanks again for this great and powerful directive. God's hand is in it for me. emoticon

Memory verse for the week of 12/27

Monday, December 28, 2009

Hello and Praise the Lord my Brothers and Sisters in Christ and to those who may not know the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, but who are here reading this today, Welcome!

I pray that you all had a blessed and wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the new year with excitement.

Father God,
I thank you for another chance to share Your Word with my brothers and sisters. As always Lord God , Please bless me with Your Wisdom and let every word I write be from You and not me so that You get all the Glory. And let those who read this be blessed and enlightened.
In Jesus Name I pray
Amen

This weeks verse is from 2 Corinthians 5:17:

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

You know, when most people think of newness and reborn, they think of Spring, but to me the end of the year always reminds me of new beginnings. Christmas is about the birth of Christ, but it is the rebirth that is so important to mankind. It is when Christ was raised from the dead and reborn that we received the blessing of salvation and the promise of eternal life. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior when too are reborn and become new creature in Christ. And we are also looking forward to the renewing of our bodies when we stand before God in the Last Day.
Roman 8:23 tells us: "And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."
So my point is,we are renewed in Christ and renewing is a good thing.
And with the coming of the New Year, we look forward to doing a new thing in our lives. Christ saved us and made us new creatures in Him and we have the chance to do a new thing in our own lives. No matter how this year went, we have a chance to do something new in 2010! If your year was bad, then this is a chance to make it better. You can change your workout plan, eat better, work on goals you didn't reach this year, whatever you didn't do this year, you can do in 2010.
And if your year was a good one, then you can make it even better! Go to the next level in your weight loss goals, take a course, anything you want to do, you can, because it is a new year and a new chance to do something in your life!
So when 2010 rolls in, forget what you did in 2009 and focus on what God has in store for you this this new year. And I look forward to sharing this year with you all!
God Bless you
In Jesus Name
Greg

Thank you, Greg. I also look forward to sharing the New Year with all my Spark friends and Brothers and Sisters in the Lord! How much better can it get than that? All of my family (not my two boys of course and I am so thankful for that), a very small family is gone now but the Lord really did replace them for me with Spark.

I wish you and all of us here the best New Year and whole of 2010 imaginable! Wouldn't it be awesome if He raptured us this coming year? Now, THAT'S a thought to ponder.
