The Right To Holy Things

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

I read a daily devotional called Faith's Checkbook by C H Spurgeon. It is online if you would like to check it out, (
m.) Today's devotional really jumped out it me as I was reading it and my spirit is telling me that someone needs to read this today. God has so many promises for His children and we need to read them so that we know them and can live our daily lives in faith, trusting in Him who cannot lie! I pray that this promise blesses you as it has me.
In Jesus Name

The Right To Holy Things

But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat - Leviticus 22:11

Strangers, sojourners, and servants upon hire were not to eat of holy things. It is so in spiritual matters still. But two classes were free at the sacred table, those who were bought with the priest's money and those who were born into the priest's house. Bought and born, these were the two indisputable proofs of a right to holy things.

Bought. Our great High Priest has bought with a price all those who put their trust in Him. They are His absolute property -- altogether the LORD's. Not for what they are in themselves, but for their owner's sake they are admitted into the same privileges which He Himself enjoys, and "they shall eat of his meat." He has meat to eat which worldlings know not of. "Because ye belong to Christ," therefore shall ye share with your LORD.

Born. This is an equally sure way to privilege. If born in the Priest's house we take our place with the rest of the family. Regeneration makes us fellow-heirs and of the same body, and, therefore, the peace, the joy, the glory, which the Father has given to Christ, Christ has given to us. Redemption and regeneration have given us a double claim to the divine permit of this promise.

I am bought, I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb Jesus and I have the nature of God because of the free gift of Righteousness which I got by coming to the cross of Jesus of grace and truth because of the free gift of faith that He gave to me and I made the most important decision to come to the cross.

I am now filled to over flowing with Holy Spirit who seals all believers unto the day of the salvation of our bodies since our spirits are already re born from above with the new nature of God and we are washing our minds daily with the reading of the word of God to transform our thinking.

I just love this blog. Thank you Greg.

God uses the weak to show His strength

1 Kings 19

1 Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. 3 And he was afraid and arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. 4 But he himself went a days journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers. 5 He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him, Arise, eat. 6 Then he looked and behold, there was at his head a bread cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again. 7 The angel of the LORD came again a second time and touched him and said, Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you. 8 So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God.

You know, when I read this account of Elijahs life and how he was running from Jezebel, it amazes me how awesome God is! Now look at it this way, this prophet of God, who just defeated 450 prophets of Baal by the power of God, is now running from Jezebel because she threatened his life! This man was chosen by God to be His prophet and you know God knows all about us and He knew that this was going to happen and still He chose Elijah! Elijah, who asked God to let him die because he couldnt take the pressures and more. Elijah, who was in fear of his life from a person who served the same god that His God had just defeated. He had lost his faith in God for a minute and look where it got him. Hiding in a cave, wanting to die. But God did not leave him hanging. He sent an angel to feed him and comfort him and to strengthen him for the journey to come. And if you read 2 Kings 2 you will see that Elijah was taken into Heaven to live with God! And this for a man who wanted to die!
What I get from this story is that God does not look for the perfect person to do His Will but will use the broken and the fearful and the simple to do great things! When I read Gods Word, I see that just about every man or woman that God used had a flaw. Weather it was Moses, David, Peter, Paul, they all had flaws, but God used them to do mighty things in His Name!! And if that is the case, I marvel thinking about what He can do in my life!! No matter what I am going through or how I may be fearful and doubtful about what God is doing in my life, I know that God is always right and He know what I am capable of, even when it looks like right now, I am good for nothing!
So no matter what you are going through or how far you may have strayed off the path of God, as long as Jesus is your Lord and Savior and you have Him in your heart, God has a plan for you! Remember the promise of God from Phip 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: It doesnt see unless you mess up. It says that God, who has begun a good thing in you when you accepted Jesus Christ, will continue to work on you until the day of Jesus Christ! Hallujah!
Walk in His promises saints! They never fail!

I know I take great comfort and encouragement in the fact that God used Gideon--the least of his family which was the least in their clan, which was the least clan in the tribes. god, in fact, called this "weakling" a "mighty man of valor"!

When I read about heroes of the faith like Elijah, I wish I was like them. I wish I could do great things like they did, or have great faith like theirs. Then, when I look again, I see that their lives were no less hard than mine. They doubted and suffered difficult emotions. They struggled with living right for God too. It reminds me that I am to walk my path, the one God has set out for ME. I am not them, they were not me. In the end, it's all about Him. Thanks for the reminder!

Actually, there are many gods. The one you call God (or Jehovah, or Yahway, or Allah, or Adonai, or various other names) is, in fact, quite an important one, but he would be the first to proclaim that you are overstating his importance. He is quite proud of his siblings and children -- "[of Pallas Athnai]: gthse de mtieta Zeus".

In any case, I am well aware of the various monotheisms floating around. One can hardly not be. Often it seems that there are more "One True God"s than there are true gods, even if one counts all the local godlings of rivers and hills and trees.

On the whole the "One True God"s are particular true gods who are emphasizing the importance of their own domain. Zeus, for example, is the god of kingship (among other things), and when your theological predecessors misunderstood him, he was exhibiting that domain.

In any case, I will recommend to the goddess of Wisdom, whose hymn I quoted earlier, that you and your co-religionists acquire some wisdom.

Bardbl, I going to keep your response up here so that my brothers and sisters in Christ can pray for you. Everyone has the right to their opinions and since it was not out of line, I will keep it up. Zeus may have been a "god" but he is not God. There is only one God and His Son Jesus Christ is the only way to him. God lead you this this blog and I know it was for a reason. I am always here if you want to know more about Jesus and the awesome gift that He has for you. God bless you and keep you

Well, actually, the being you call "God" is actually Zeus -- who *is* the greatest of the gods -- sneaking off across the Mediterranean to get a bit of Hera-free time with some of the women there. (He does that sort of thing, as is well-attested. Don't complain about it; it gives us great heroes, such as Heracles, Jesus, Perseus, etc.) The only reason he's worried about the local deities, Baal and others, is that they might rat him out.

God listens to prayer!

2 Kings 20:1-6

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. 2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, 3 I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. F113 4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, F114 that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. 6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

I am doing a study on the great prayers of the Bible and this weeks study was on Hezekiah and how the Lord, who had told Hezekiah that he was going to die, heard the prayer of Hezekiah and instead of death, He added 15 years to his life! This has always been one of my favorite stories in the Bible. As I young christian, I thought that prayer was hard and to tell you the truth, I sometimes even now have problems with prayer, but reading God's Word and more importantly, studying His Word, I begin to understand prayer is truly Talking to our Father! And being totally honest with Him! We have to come before God and open our whole heart before Him because He knows all anyway and He wants us to be honest and true with Him. Hezekiah asked God to remember how he walked in God's ways and was perfect in his heart. He wept sore, meaning he let it all out and give God everything! And you know what? God knew his heart before he even prayed to God and because of his openness, He blessed him with more years to his life! And another thing that I liked about this story is that Hezekiah was not perfect! If you read more of 2Kings, you will see that after God blessed him, he still messed up! And that shows me that it is not about us and our righteousness but God's!! And that is why we HAVE to keep connected to our Father through prayer. He hears us and He strengthens us and He blesses us for our faith and trust in Him!

I pray that this blog is a blessing to all who read it because I was blessed by writing it.

I feel so overwhelmed and amazed when I read in God's word that we are to pray our hearts out to the Father. He hears our prayers and answers according to his will. I think most people have a hard time remembering that we should pray for God's will to be done, which may not always be the way we'd like it but will always be the best way. The bible tells us to pray always so that in believing we will see God working in our life. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this blog so we can all be reminded of the importance of prayer and how great our heavenly Father is.

Thank you Greg for this insightful blog about prayer and you know me I am a prayer warrior. Ive seen God move and answer prayer wherever I go it strengthens my faith and he always shows me he hears me. Prayer is so exciting to me because I love being in his presence, there is no place I would rather be. Everyday he surprises me I cant wait to start my day with the Lord praying for all those I love so dearly and watching the Lord move in there lives. Prayer is where the battle is fought and victory is won because of all that Jesus has done for us. This story proves that keep praying keep believing stay strong in the Lord for he has taught me not to go by what I see or hear but to stand in the faith that he has given me that he hears me and answers me. Much love to you dear friend

It always amazes me that God---who is in control of every single thing and every single person---hears the prayers of His children! He sees us and hears us, and cannot wait to spend time with us. He delights in us--frail and fallen creatures that we are, and spending time in conversation pleases Him to no end.

You're right. God already knows everything there is to know about us, where we are in our lives right now, where we've been--and He knows where we're going. Instead of "hiding" from Him and trying to keep secrets (as if we could), if we really grasped the amazing truth of Who He is, we would rearrange all our priorities to make sure we spent as much time with Him as possible. Why don't we want to talk to the One who has all the answers? the One who cannot ever be surprised? the One who has all the power there is and that nothing and no one can defeat????

Who am I spending time with that is more important than that, or who loves me more than that?

Thanks for an insightful blog. As you can see, it elicited a real response from me!

Amen, it is true! and I agree some of the most powerful prayers are not eloquent and wordy but it is about truly talking to God from your heart and letting Him know all your cares (even though he already knows) He just wants to spend some time with you and to be able to look at you with pride and say to Himself "Look what a wonder person you have become, I knew you had it in you all along, and now I can see that you know it too!"

I think of spending time with God, like my children spending time with me. I may already KNOW what has transpired, but I still want to hear it from them. To know that they feel close enough to me to share, that they trust me to treat their thoughts, concerns, dreams with respect.

I just realized something (sometimes I'm a little slow w/getting God's msg). My 13 yr old has been keeping to herself this summer. She's gotten very quiet, stays to herself, in her bedroom with her nose in a book and (usually) soft orchestra music playing in the background. I've tried to hug her, to talk to her, to just get a smile out of her....more often than not she is quiet, cold, asks me to leave, or just unresponsive. I feel lost w/o her, sad, missing my girl. I long for a real hug, and to see a smile, to hear her laugh and be share a conversation. This MUST be how our Father feels when we get wrapped up in our lives, and don't have time to communicate with Him. This is a good lesson for me...I don't want Him to miss me as much as I am missing my girl.

O Yes. One of my favorites also. Prayer IS the key and we all have to do is ask in faith. So glad the Lord doesn't hold our imperfect ways against us. If He did, we would all be eternally lost. God loves when we call on Him being totally open and honest. Hezekiah's bold approach to God in prayer along with the following scripture have always been a great encouragement to me.

Hebrews 4:16 ~ Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Great blog. Thank you for sharing with us.

This is a GREAT BLOG!! I use to stutter before GOD...many years ago...then after taking a class called POWER for ABUNDANT LIVING, in 1974, I became more bold with the years went by I have progressed, I think a lot of it had to do with praying out loud, in front of I have the WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRAYER GROUP, so I exercise my prayer tongue a lot!!

I also pray and ask GOD to help me, improve my ability to communicate with well as with others. I still could use improvement in that!!!

P.S. I had another thought to ad to this: GOD doesn't care if we speak eloquently, have a college degree, know all the "politically correct" use of words...or if we just come Humbly to HIM and speak in our own tongue, whatever that may be...all HE cares is that we do come to HIM in prayer; talk to HIM just like HE were our daddy, cause HE is; and share our concerns with HIM !!

I love the part about not being perfect...people who think they are perfect scare me!! I am a work in progress!! Always in need of work....

There is so much P O W E R in prayer...even more in UNITED prayers!!

Praying for us all!!

I have been praying more lately, but probably not enough... regarding my difficult divorce I'm now facing. I do pray God will heal his angry heart, but it seems every time I turn around another knife is stuck in my back instead of him trying to truly work things out. He won't even come to the table and talk, just complain of things past. AT this point with the changes in the law, I may have a difficult time getting Bifurcated to move on with my life. I need to pray more when the knives are hurled instead of saying what I think... and think/dwell more on the positive in my life and the direction it's heading... in love.. with a man who really loves me and is so very kind. I truly have much to be thankful for. : )

We have an Advocate with the Father

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

A little something I received today that I thought I would share with my friends. I pray that it blesses you as it did me.
In Jesus Name

My little children, these things I write to
you, so that you may not sin. And if
anyone sins, we have an Advocate with
the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
( 1 John 2:1 *NKJV )

Dear Friends ,
Now if you are feeling low because of something that
you have done wrong, or a sin that you have committed in
the past, know that you have forgiveness through our Savior
Jesus Christ. For when you repent it is written; "Come now,
let us reason together," says the Lord . "Though
your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as
snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall
be like wool. ( Isaiah 1:18 )

Our sins then are not only forgiven, but they are also forgotten
by our Heavenly Father as well! For it is written; For I will be
merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and
their lawless deeds* I will remember no more."
( Hebrews 8:12 )

So don't beat yourself up, or hold those things back when you
talk with God. Instead, always speak to Him as you would a
loving, caring, understanding Father. After all Gregory , that's
what He is! Also remember that; Blessed is he whose
transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count
against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. For Then;
when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you
lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
( Psalms 32:1-2 ) ( Proverbs 3:24 )

Now have a Wonderful Day my friends , and tonight may your
dreams be sweet indeed! Amen.

Wouldn't it be nice if WE could forget all things we've done wrong? That's really hard to do sometimes. -- Lou

Abba Father! Thank you Brother for this blog! I think we get it twisted all the time & carry around sins & self hate for things we did years & years ago. We need to remember to confess the sin, go & sin no more. Not the same sin over and over again that is. It takes a minute to get away from sins we've committed for such a long time but once we are free, we are truly free indeed.

God bless & enjoy everyday!

Greg, we indeed are so blessed. The Father not only forgives our sins, but they are also forgotten.
We need to pray for our society as so many people don't think sins is real. Everything is relative. At the same time most people still appeal to an ultimate truth, but they have rejected the one who is Truth.

That is a truth many do not is just so unbelievable that HE would give HIS only SON that we may be saved and always forgiven our wrongs!!!

It is, I agree, difficult to get my head around, tho I work at it, because I know HIS words written to us.... in the B I B L E are TRUE, and this truth will set us free...tho we must first BELIEVE it!!!

Very important message!! Thank you!!
