Greg, You are so welcome. But that is what we are here for. To pick each other up when we stumble on this journey, or give support when you need. I thank God that you found Sparkpeople and little old me, a speck in the universe. I appreciate everything you have ever said to me and I am there for you through the end. Take care! And I will be praying for you!

I got more free time now!

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

Well my friends, it has finally happened to me! I have been laid off! I knew it was coming but it seems like a kick in the pants!
I am ok though. I mean I have to do the whole unemployment thing (haven't done that in years) and one day soon I will have to do the job search thing! ARRRGGGHHH!! But it also means I now have more time to spend with God in study and in prayer. I can also spend the rest of my summer with my teenage daughter before she goes back to school. And I can now spend more time with my SP Family!!!! So there is some good that comes out of this job loss thing!

I am going to work on getting my Minister's license online. I am going to take a computer course so I can get my certification to teach Microsoft Software. And I am going to workout even more to reach my goals!
God makes a way when it seems that there is no way. I am on a new path and I will be ok as long as God guides my steps. Thank you all for your prayers. And Now I am free to hear more prayer requests. See God is good!

God never leaves his children begging for bread - He WILL provide. If He hasn't already; I'll pray the right job comes along.

I'm sorry to hear that you were laid off, yet inspired by your positive attitude despite your situation.

My husband was laid off in December and he just now got a job again after 7 months. In the meantime, despite his lack of a job, I felt we've emerged stronger in the end. We both learned budgeting and saving money in a way that we haven't before and have learned other valuable and money saving lessons that we'll be carrying with us going forward.

I wish you the best of luck in your job search, with your positive outlook and ability of turning lemons into lemonade (old cliche, I know, but suitable...), I know you'll come out of this victorious.

Getting laid off kind of "hits" you, doesn't it??? I'm in the same boat - I've been laid off since last September. It's going to be hard for me to find a job because I just turned 62 and no one wants to take a chance. I don't feel concerned though, because God has brought me through this type of situation in the past and after it's all said and done, I could see the reason I lost my job. I know God will take care of you and me and others in the same situation - Keep the faith and I'll be praying for you.

I am sorry to hear about your job but happy to hear about your plans. It's interesting the way your time has been opened up so that you can pursue your dreams. You will make a wonderful minister!

I know that your faith and positive attitude will get you where you need to go.

Best Wishes and Prayers, Deirdre

You are an inspiration! You manage to stay positive inspite of your circumstances. But God will reward you for spending that quality time with Him, in putting him first in everything. And putting your family first. Glad you will have the chance to spend with your son before he goes back to school and will be more open to God. We all need to be more open to God and ready and willing to do what he calls us to do.

God Bless you in all that you do these next few weeks/months.

It read this somewhere...Where God guides; he provides. Keep the positive vibes flowing and everything will work itself out.

Yes, indeed....when one door closes, another opens. You might have to look for it a little, but there's always another opening. Extra time for yourself, family and friends is a wonderful bonus. I have very, very little work in August, so much of the same will be going on over here.

The Lord will provide for you according to His will. You have quite a master plan there and best of all, a very positive disposition. You are a great inspiration.

Praise God for your disposition, Daddy G =)
My hubby is unemployed right now too, but between my job and unemployment we are surviving, and actually HAPPY despite it all. Those precious extra memories of good times spent with your loved ones makes penny pinching bearable and even laughable~ so enjoy them and in the meantime I'm sure the Lord will get something awesome brewing in you for all your future endeavors.

Yes God is Good!! And he has a plan for you, as you are already well aware. As I said before, when God closes one door another one opens and God is telling me right now that he has some mighty plans for you. I don't know what they are but you do. So listen to your heart because he is there to guide you where you need to go.

I hope this makes sense because I just type what God tells me to say.

My GOOD friend you NEVER cease to AMAZE me. YOU took a NEGATIVE and you turned it into a POSITIVE. You did that for me so many times too. You keep that positive attitude going strong my friend.

You are so STRONG and so POSITIVE. God is DEFINATELY your CO-PILOT.

Hang in there my Spark Friend.

One of my favorite lines from the Sound of Music: "When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window."

You sound like you've found your window and are working your way through! I'll admit, I'm jealous! I wish I could spend more time with my teenage sons before school starts!

Good luck to you!
