Will work for.....happiness.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

I miss working at a job/career/whatever. I left an insurance business when I moved back to my hometown to start a subdivision from a little piece of inherited land, and that has affected my emotional state as well as my income. The subdivision that I started has been "flatlined" with the current economic situation, so I am on a search for something that fits me. To fill time, to help my church, and to be somewhat creative, I helped to spearhead the development of a cookbook, "A Taste of Heaven," with 650 recipes. The profits go to the church's benevolence fund which was depleted. That work was so rewarding - both for the church and for me! I'm looking at a nationally-recognized direct sales opportunity and an Internet business possibility. Both have low start-up costs which is attractive. I've been successful at past sales careers, so I know I can do it again. Is anyone else out there in a similar situation? What have you done or are doing? Or want to do?

DMV Error?

Last month, I went to the local Department of Motor Vehicles to renew my driver's license. An updated picture was required, so I posed appropriately. When I returned home, I glanced at the photo. For some unexplained reason, it seemed that they had put my MOTHER'S picture on the license!!!! Have you looked in the mirror lately and seen your mother? This is eerie.

Oh Good Heavens!! Absolutely I have "noticed" that they've got my Mother's and my pictures mixed up.... Kind of scary, isn't it??

When I look in the mirror, I see things that remind me of her AND, that when I was young, said I'd never have _______(fill in the blank) and all of a sudden, there it is! My hands for instance... I remember thinking how wrinkled and vein showing that my Mother's hands were and now mine are exactly the same.. (I always thought she didn't put lotion on often enough) yeah.. right! now, I look at my oldest daughters hands and I see that headed her way too (she's 48).. Guess it's the "gift" that keeps on giving!! emoticon

My GS, who has Asperger's Syndrome, had a fantastic week at a state Boy Scouts of America campground. His achievements included 'best swimmer in the troop,' the earning of several badges and, at the top of his list, making a new friend....a rat snake. He came home a different boy. Hats off to the BS of A! Do others have similar stories?

There is nothing more special than seeing a child accomplish something that makes him happy. How great that your DGS had an opportunity to do that. I know you are so proud of him. And your encouragement over the years will give him lasting memories of your love for him. May he have many more opportunities to do the same!

Blessings,
Jean
