vacation re-group

Sunday, March 17, 2013

back from vacation - seems like everything in South Carolina is fried! It was hard to eat out and make healthy choices. I was pretty actiive - beach walks and tennis, but I really could have done better. But - that's okay - it was a great week with my sister and her family - no beating myself up - just picking myself up and moving on.

Plan for this week:

- WATER! - I need to get back to that - missed this
- Alcohol - no more beer!
- Exercise - at least 30 minutes per day with a 10 minute video in the AM
- Food tracking - all of it - no matter what!
- Pounds - looking to get ride of my 2 pound gain and a little more - I feel like I have been stalled for the past 2 weeks after my strong start for the 5% challenge.

There it is. I am happy to be home and happy to be back here.

Staying on track

Monday, March 04, 2013

3) What are you doing to encourage yourself and keep on track

What a great question - with a pretty straightforward answer. To keep on track - I keep coming back. Coming back to SP and coming back to the 5% challenge team. Seeing what the Casual Travellers are doing - inspires me. Reading everyone's blogs and posts - teaches me. And best of all I get to hang out with some pretty cool people.

The other thing that keeps me on track is my little dog. I get up and get outside for her. She makes me so happy when we walk together.

Short and sweet and pretty simple!!

Go team! Go me!

My dogs keep me active, too. And they have so much more fun out & about than when we watch tv together. Lol. emoticon

New habits

Sunday, March 03, 2013

I am going to try and add a spark 10 minute video to my before bedtime routine. Whenever I have done it in the past, I have had a great sleep - something else I would like to work on - so perhaps these things go hand in hand and I will get to sleep before 11 pm this week!

Tonight is going to be the cardio kick boxing - since I am gearing up to start Muay Thai - this only seems fitting.

Here's to a new habit - day one - you know it only take 21 days to make a new habit into something that sticks. Let's see how many of us can make this happen!

Thanks for stopping by...

Sounds good! I just finished the Official 10-Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge and it was so helpful in getting me to make exercise a habit. Now I'm doing the Spring Into Shape Challenge.

Feb review - onward to March

Saturday, March 02, 2013

February was a bit of a strange month for me - a trip in the middle did put a crimp in my weight loss plan, but I did manage to pull it together. I didn't log as many fitness minutes as I wanted ( I was aiming for 1000, but only hit 700), but I walked almost everyday - unless it was too icy.

Summary of what I achieved:

- 8 glasses of water every single day
- 700 fitness minutes
- 5 more pounds down
- joined the Casual Traveller team for the 5% challenge - a great kick start
- a few new Spark friends
- continued reading of success stories
- learning to give myself credit for what I have done and starting to recognize my strengths - positive mantra while walking the dog is good!

Onward to March - goals:
- 1000 fitness minutes
- be active with the Casual Travellers team and take part in all challenges
- continue to read success stories
- another 5-10 pounds
- make smart choices while on holidays
- limit alcohol - bad food choices happen when I am not careful with this

small victories

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Just want to note these small victories today:

1. ordered a grilled chicken salad at McDonald's tonight instead of a burger 400 calories - with dressing vs. more than 900 (with over 1000mg of sodium) if I had ordered a big mac and fries with a diet coke

2. took the dog for a walk even though it had started raining and I REALLY didn't want to! Got in my 20 minutes of exercise!

3. All water consumed - had my refillable bottle at work and the pitcher on the counter at home to keep me on track

4. No snacking after dinner

5. Recited a positive mantra as I walked - I have started to repeatedly tell myself that I am strong, beautiful, powerful, committed and worth it. This feels good.

6. I have stayed away from wine - since Saturday night

All of things have added up to the scale finally moving down again - 237.5 this morning. I will hold on to that or be less to post for the weekend weigh in.

Smiling and feeling positive - I think that makes a huge difference too.

Good job! You are building great new habits, one decision at a time. Soon, ordering that salad will be habit, you won't even think about it.

So, yes, you are strong, beautiful, powerful, committed and worth it!!!

Good for you! Making the right choices does make you feel good when you see positive results. Wish I had the determination to get out and walk in the rain, but at least I do my walking DVD when it is nasty out. emoticon emoticon
