This past week was Frontier Days celebration in Eva, a small town near my parents. Saturday was the tractor parade and booth sale downtown. Dad's antique tractor club had a big tent with lots of activities planned, so we picked up the grands after school and headed up for the fun. We got there Friday in time to ride the 4 wheelers a bit before dark.
Dad has several tractors, but chose his John Deere to drive this year.
While he was busy getting things ready for the parade, we hit some of the activities.
Antique Car show
Angus is an animatronic steer with a photo sensor, and moos at the most unexpected times.
There were a few rides.
The ROTC led the parade.
PawPaw was in the middle of the tractors (he is on the green John Deere).
If you wave, they throw you candy.
There were pedal tractor races.
Slowest tractor race.
Blind Man's Bluff (drive blindfolded and try to be closest to the barrel).
Ladies Frying Pan Toss.
We intentionally avoided the food vendors, drank water, and got a lot of walking in. It was a good day.
The boys got to visit with their great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, too. It was a good weekend.

Friday everyone was feeling so much better so we all went to the beach. No rain, no undertow, and the water was great. DH went for a swim in the surf and the boys took lessons on how to break through the waves.
Max is our ladies man and always manages to attract a cute little lady to play with.
For the afternoon, the hotel put up an inflatable slide. It was a wonderful play toy, and if they could have stuffed it into the suitcase, it would have come home with us.
The tide was really high and the waves were washing up under the cabana chairs. So instead of a sand castle, we decided to make an "island" in the water. It was an effort in futility that lasted most of the day.
But by evening we when the tide receded a bit, we managed to have a nice impact crater.
This last evening was the most beautiful we had all week. Everyone up and down the beach was out taking group pictures and enjoying the beautiful sunset.
So it was with heavy hearts we bid farewell to the beach for one more summer. Saturday we visit Nana and Pappa Simon then head home again.
Thank you all for stopping by my BLOG and sharing my summer vacations this year. We still have a few short trips planned, so keep checking back.
Life is good.

Wed we woke up to clouds and rain. Not to be discouraged, we bravely went to the beach. But the rain continued, so we went to WonderWorks (the upside down house).
We played with a very LARGE Google Earth. We found our house and followed the road to great-grandmaw's house.
I wanted to spend some time with the optical illusion art, but was out voted, so we just walked through.
Max got to stomp some aliens while his dad and Aunt Sara rode the 4D roller coaster.
We got to fly in a jet simulator, and (crash) land the shuttle before giving a piano concert.
David took off to the 4th floor and ropes course with my DH who didn't have a camera. I don't do ropes, so no pictures of that.
Then we headed back to the hotel for a quick lunch and hit the beach between rains. DD and I took some time and floated around the lazy river before heading back for a "rest" (can't call them naps around the boys).
Wed night we hit the play ground on the beach. The boys ran, and ran, and climbed, and had a great time before the hula show.
A quick walk on the beach to chase some crabs, then up to the room and bed.
Life is good.
