Living with braces.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I finally took the plunge and got braces again. Perhaps now I will quit cracking fillings and teeth. It has certainly been a long time (don't ask) since I have had braces and I had forgotten how uncomfortable they really are. Last time I had the bands around each tooth, now I have only one band (on the crown) and the rest of the brackets are just glued to the tooth. Sure would be nice if my back teeth actually touched so I could chew, but guess I better get used to it, I have 2 years to go. On the bright side ........... , well my teeth will look better in 2 years.

  Hello,

I did braces in my late 30's it was the best thing I ever did for myself...Now I am going to get back into shape...You will love it when they take the braces off it feels like your teeth are really long...Hang in there you will be more beautiful than you already are.

just keep think "it Wont be that long", I understand the new systems are so much better than those kids in the past had to endure.

Warmer days

Sunday, February 08, 2009

Today was a really great day. We got a 10 mile mountain bike ride in, light lunch, and some hammock time. It was 68 degrees at 11 this morning, how nice that felt. I am so looking forward to the warmer days of spring.

We had company this afternoon. Some of MIL's cousins came by and spent some time with us. She really enjoyed that, I'm glad they stopped by. Nice conversation and reflections of days gone by. Didn't get the laundry done, but it will be here tomorrow, so that is ok.

I did manage to get my Valentines shopping done and my strength training in this evening. I guess all in all it was a very successful day.

Hi Bev, it was a great day for riding. I did 21. on the hybrid that day, 22 on the road bike the day before 26.5 the next day. Now, under the weather...and it has been really nice out! I just had to get out and ride while I could. We are in recovery from this cough/head cold mess and hope to be out and about soon! emoticon

Getting better

Sunday, January 18, 2009

It seems to be getting easier to get my exercise in. DH goes to the gym with me and it really makes a difference. With the weather improving we have even gotten a few bike rides in. So far this month we have 12 miles mountain bike and 13 miles road bike. Far behind where we wanted to be, but it has been very cold, and I have been under the weather, so I won't complain.

    Fun, fun, fun!
how do you find a mileage tracker for your bike? I'd never thought to get one, but now I want one. LOL

oh....so wishing I could bike....Spring will come soon enough, I suppose, but it would be really nice to not have to worry about ICE!!!! I have studded bike tires, but its still very dangerous on corners, not to mention the cars who have to dodge us........

Slow going

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

After being up most of the night with MIL in the ER, today is tough. It is still raining (we will mold soon) with flooding over most of the north part of the state. Can't seem to be able to get more than about 10 minutes of exercise at a time, but even that adds up. I do feel better after I get them done, so I'll do what I can, when I can.

I'm sorry to hear your mom is in ER. I hope she'll be okay and released soon.
Doing short spurts of exercise can be very good for your body. Think hummingbird. =)
