Home again

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Well, the roads were clear so I could get to work today. If I had to go much further north I wouldn't have made it. We did get a few snow flurries while I was there, but nothing that stuck. It was a very busy day so I didn't run up and down the stairs but twice. Oh well, so goes life. Tomorrow is a new day and I'll get back on the trainer.

On a brighter note, I have an orthodontic appointment in the morning at 9 and they will schedule removal of my braces! I will be so very happy to eat normally again.

Life is good.

WooHoo! getting the braces off! Now, a word from you friendly neighborhood dental assistant:

You still need to floss every day--yes, all the way under the retainers, if you have a permanent one--or two. Good news, it won't take near as long as it does now. And Listerine (or store brand) for any swollen gums. Next, you will spend about 3 days licking your teeth, thinking something is missing--and you could get used to this!

And last, time to schedule a cleaning with your regular dentist, just to make sure nothing untoward happened under those brackets!

That is great news. I remember when I got mine off--about 10 years ago! emoticon

Back to work tomorrow

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

The big storm seems to have gone around us. There was snow everywhere but here. We got lots of sleet and freezing rain. Saw just a few small flakes today, but no accumulation. Most roads are open again, so looks like I will be back to work tomorrow, unless roads are closed again tonight.

Way to cold and wet for me to get out and ride, so used the trainer. Got in 30 minutes yesterday and 25 minutes today. Add in the 30 minutes walking the dog, and I've gotten my cardio for the day. Not sure the dog is enjoying our walks, she doesn't get to sniff around to her hearts content.

I'm hoping to get back to work tomorrow! I'm getting cabin fever. Also, it is easy not to snack all day there.

Glad you missed the big snow! emoticon

We have snow on the ground right now but by the time I wake up it will be full on rain. No riding for me either. I did go to spin class today though. Really enjoyed it.

The ice man cometh

Sunday, January 09, 2011

We went to church this morning, took the grands out to lunch, sent DD on her way back to school early and made it home before the sleet started. DD had to drive through some sleet on her way, but her roommates helped her carry everything in the dorm and she is save and sound. The dorm has a generator and she is stocked with goodies to eat if the power goes out or they don't feel like walking to the dining hall. DH left for work about 1:30, it started sleeting about 2:30 and hasn't stopped yet. We have a nice layer of ice on everything, but the power is still on. Hopefully DH won't have to spend the night at work and will be able to get home at midnight. Now, if the dog would just take herself out for her walks ....

Getting ready for the ice

Saturday, January 08, 2011

They are still predicting ice and snow tomorrow night (and it was 60 today!). We are in the .25 -.5 inches of ice and dusting of snow. I don't work till Wed, but power tends to go out when we get any ice. I made chicken casserole, chili, and chicken and rice soup today. Have lots of fruits and vegetables, and plenty of milk and bread. Cars and generator are all full of gas, lights are charged, radio has batteries and I'm set for a week of bad weather now. DD will leave to go back to school before the bad weather gets here, can't have her on the road in freezing rain.

Did get a bit more in the sewing room, got some walking in, and helped DGS clean his room so he could come spend the night tonight. Not an outstanding work day, but several small accomplishments.

Life is good.

Yep, I stocked up on food today, getting ready for this storm. We're supposed to get 6-10" of snow tonight. That I can handle. It's the ice/rain/sleet they're predicting for tomorrow afternoon that is scary! Stay safe! Hope your power stays on!

Wishing the best for you and your area. Do you have an alternate source of heat? We didn't and last Christmas Eve our power went out at 10 p.m. when it was zero outside, and didn't come back on 'til 5 p.m. Christmas Day. The only place to get warm was the car, so we drove 70 miles south to have our Christmas Dinner. No ice or we would have stayed put. Anyway, it gave us a memorable Christmas! Brrrrrr.

Hope your electricity doesn't go out with the storm. We are on the edge of icestorm in south GA and our area isn't prepared for it at all. Like you, thankfully we are all stocked up.

Yikes! I hope you don't lose power but good job to be prepared. Enjoy those accomplishments - all of them big and small.

Slower today

Friday, January 07, 2011

Well, didn't get as much exercise today. Was working on the sewing room when DD came home from college and we had to cancel the cable and internet, pay utilities, get some more boxes and did some more packing in her apartment. Then we went out for dinner. I was pretty good, had a salad and grilled salmon and baked potato. Haven't ridden my trainer yet, but will ride and do my 10 vidoe before I go to bed. She can finish her laundry while I ride my bike. Tomorrow night I will have the grands, so my exercise will be chasing them around.

They are predicting several inches of snow Sunday night thru Monday morning. DD will have to go back to school earlier than planned to avoid the icy roads. It was 60 degrees today and is still 50 and it's almost 9. Is it any wonder everyone is sick.

Life is still good.

I have been doing the Bootcamp workouts and at least 30 minutes of aerobics to go with them each day this week. I am ready for a day off from the aerobics - my body is letting me know I am tweaking it! Good day for you to enjoy your dd and relax a bit!

I haven't gotten any exercise in 2 days except for the 10 minute videos. I had grandkids yesterday and today. Plus am having a party for my nephew whose birthday was 5 days after Christmas. Somehow he never has a party so I figured late was better than never:) He really is a sweetie and I love him very much. So will have 10 people over for breakfast tomorrow morning. Wanted to get as much done as I could before hand so I could enjoy him.

Hopefully I will get a chance to work out after that. We're looking at some more snow maybe next week too. Weird weird weather. Enjoy your DD and the warm weather too. have a great week-end.
