Another successful day

Friday, January 07, 2011

Today went so nicely. It was very mild so took the pup on 2 nice walks, did my 10 minute challenge video, and got 20 minutes on the trainer. Also started cleaning the sewing room and moved some furniture around. Got all my quilt books and magazines organized on a new bookcase, all the fabric in one place (not organized yet, but in one place), cleaned out the file cabinets and have everything in it's proper folder. It had reached the "gotta do it" point. Another 2 days like today and it should be done.

Life is good.

Great job! My goal tomorrow is to do a major overhaul of my bedroom - a mess since it was also 'Christmas central' for storing, wrapping, etc. If it were warm enough I'd open up the windows to air it out, but the high tomorrow will only reach the mid 20's.

Good for you! It is so much easier to be productive when you can find all the parts to the project. emoticon

Work days are hard

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Today was a work day for me. I drive 45 minutes, work 12 hours, then drive home and am on call all night. Most days there is little time for exercise on work days, so I take the stairs instead of using the elevator. There are 115 steps top to bottom and I make the trip several times a day. Not sure how to log that, or if I even should, but at least it is something.

Now I think I will go get on the trainer and get a few more minutes cardio.

Life is good

Of course you can count the steps. It's a very valid form of cardio exercise. Back in the late 70's WW offered two exercise routines - a walking program and a stair climbing program. So by all means GO FOR IT!

I've timed how long it takes me to go up and down a flight of stairs. I keep track, and at the end of the day I enter the time in my fitness. Every little bit helps!

Maybe you could get a pedometer to log your steps throughout the day. Not sure if you have a desk job, or not. But those stairs are definitely a great way to add fitness to your work day!

Man, I feel like a slouch. I get up when I want and can easily fit 30 minutes or more into most days. I'm getting going right now!!! Well, after I tell you that 113 steps is a lot and going up and down is awesome. Count it!!

I think SCOUTHARPS's suggestion is right on target. If you can do those stairs at a good pace, they can count like you're using a stair climber machine. Count those minutes! It may help motivate you to do even more in your very busy day!

You are doing great. I bet if you timed your stair time, it could count under the stair climber thing in the cardiac section. emoticon

I hear you. I work 10 hour days. Commute 50 min each way. I only get about 2 hours to myself before I have to go to bed. I hit the Gym at 4am 5 days a week.

Little things add up

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

I had a bunch of little things I needed to do today and didn't have a block of time to exercise. So I took the dog on a slightly longer walk, got on the trainer while talking on the phone, did my challenge video while dinner was cooking. All total I got in 45 minutes of exercise and still got all my things done. It was a good day.

Life is good.

Awesome! I had a similar kind of day but did get in more exercise than I had planned. Just kept myself focused on the task at hand. Did real good as far as food too.

I hope the rest of your week goes as well:)

Sore is good

Monday, January 03, 2011

I did my 3rd challenge video today and I am starting to get sore. That is a good thing, it means I am working muscles again. Tomorrow if the weather holds I hope to get another short bike ride in before DH has to go to work.

Life is good.

Sore! That's me. I did Day One and Day Two, and last night my left hip was screaming at me. Sleep helped. It's hard for me to find the right balance with exercise that doesn't aggravate my arthritis. I will do Day 3 today, and do an hour of aquarobics, so that should help. I'm not gonna quit (unless I can't walk, lol!)

Off to a good start!

Sunday, January 02, 2011

So far I am doing well. I joined the 28 day Bootcamp and survived the first 2 videos. Today was lovely (even if breezy and cool) so after church DH and I got in a short mountain bike ride. And I have stayed on the low end of my calories. Tomorrow DD goes back to college and DH starts his week to work, so I will get some walks and sewing.

Life is good.

Bev - I am starting the Bootcamp challenge today - go us! My dh is returning to work this week, so I can get back to my own routine. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with him when he retires in 5 years - egads, that man needs a mission or else he drives me crazy!
