Sore is good

I did my 3rd challenge video today and I am starting to get sore. That is a good thing, it means I am working muscles again. Tomorrow if the weather holds I hope to get another short bike ride in before DH has to go to work.

Life is good.

    Sore! That's me. I did Day One and Day Two, and last night my left hip was screaming at me. Sleep helped. It's hard for me to find the right balance with exercise that doesn't aggravate my arthritis. I will do Day 3 today, and do an hour of aquarobics, so that should help. I'm not gonna quit (unless I can't walk, lol!)

Off to a good start!

So far I am doing well. I joined the 28 day Bootcamp and survived the first 2 videos. Today was lovely (even if breezy and cool) so after church DH and I got in a short mountain bike ride. And I have stayed on the low end of my calories. Tomorrow DD goes back to college and DH starts his week to work, so I will get some walks and sewing.

Life is good.

    Bev - I am starting the Bootcamp challenge today - go us! My dh is returning to work this week, so I can get back to my own routine. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with him when he retires in 5 years - egads, that man needs a mission or else he drives me crazy!

I have my official starting over weight. I didn't gain as much as I had feared, but I did gain 15 pounds. My new starting weight is 170 and I want to get to 145 this year. I also want to improve my strength, and finish the quilt for my bed. DH is trying to set find a multi day bike ride every month for the year. January is hard since we can't take the tandem to Hawaii. But we do have one in Feb, so I need to get started training for that, too.

My January resolution is to track all my foods and stay in my calorie range.

    Thanks everyone. The Hawaii trip won't really be till Mayish. DH's cousin is having a "Hawaii 50" birthday party for his wife in Hawaii. He will let us know when it will be. I do intend to do some riding (and snorkeling) while there, and need to get in shape.

    You and I both are starting over. My scale really needs to be tossed over a high bridge to be smashed to smithereens on the rocks far below. But alas, no bridges close at hand, so I guess I'll just need to get back to doing what I know needs to be done. I love your bike riding goals - you can do it! And finish your quilt as well - you deserve that, too.

    Bev, sounds like you have all of your ducks in order. Your goals are reasonable and doable.

You may not be able to take your tandem to Hawaii, but have you looked into renting one for a day?

Just a warning

New Years is coming and I am seriously starting over. Starting when MIL got sick in June (doesn't seem that long ago) I have been very bad. I have intended to get back on the wagon, but found one excuse after another and haven't. So, New Years will be a new beginning for me. I am going to update all my measurements, so don't be surprised when the weight goes up 20 pounds or so. I was so close to my goal, then blew it, but my goal for 2011 will be to reach that goal. That should be about 30 pounds (we will see Sat when I weigh).

I will once again be doing the monthly resolutions for those of us who cannot maintain yearly ones. Smaller resolutions are much easier to stick to than great big ones at the start of the year. I suggest we all make a list of goals for 2011, and break them down into 12 smaller ones that we can work on each month.

We can do this!

    I'm starting over again too! I decided to ease into a bit this time...this week, my goal has been to make sure I'm drinking my water. Next week, my goal will be to add 15 minutes per day of exercise. The week after that, I'll start tracking my food again.

My life is all about baby steps these days!

    Glad you are getting back on track. Take some time to journal and reflect on lessons learned. Remember baby steps. I once read something that has meant a lot to me: "I don't make mistakes, I just learn new lessons." It has applied in many areas of my life. Please start out with this one change. You were not "bad", you hit some bumps on the road called life. Now you are putting new "springs" on your buggy to smooth out those bumps.

  Sounds like a great idea....I usually forget any resoluntions
within 24 hours of making them so I quit when I was 20..LOL

This is doable tho, so will open my NEW notebook, write a
30 day resolution at the top, log all my food and make this
year my success year..............

    what a good idea! It feels overwhelming to set such a long goal and a month is a reasonable length of time. I will do the same as soon as I get home. Right now there is too much going on (good stuff) and I'm not entirely in control of what food there is. Plus icy roads do not make a bicycling heaven:) LOL. But my bike is ready for when it gets above freezing.

I am so far behind in my BLOGging. Sunday DD#2 had her Christmas party at work. We took the grands to church, out to lunch, then DD came over and we made cookies for her to take to work. While she doesn't like cooking meat (just can't stand to touch raw meat), she really likes to bake cookies. So when I got DH off to work and DD off to her party, I got to warm up the sewing machine and get some work done. Sunday was a good day.

Monday was family lunch day. SonIL had a doctor's appointment and DGS#1 is still in school, but the rest of us met for lunch and chatted about Christmases past and present. DD#2 came to the house and put away more of her things from the apartment. I'll be glad when she is out of the apartment and everything is settled down. I'm sure she will be too. Spent the evening sewing and have the 2nd quilt top almost finished now. Should be able to finish it today.

Today will be spent cooking and sewing. I have to take goodies to work tomorrow and will need some to take to Mom's Friday. Tonight DH and I will be going out with friends for dinner and some shopping. It has been a great week so far.

    I am getting caught up on SP, too, but I know i don't have time to do it justice. Ah, well, there will be other days to focus on diet/exercise. Have a great Christmas!
