Working Wed

Wednesday, December 08, 2010

Ok, so I had to work today (7-7) and DH had to work today (2-MN), DD1 has kids to get in bed and DD2 has to work 5-10). That makes it hard to get some one on one family time in. But it was a slow night at work and I did get to spend time getting to know my new tech. She is a sweetheart and a hard worker. So now she will be counted as part of my family.

My teeth are still very sore, so that is helping with the desire to eat (or not eat as the case may be). It was spitting snow this afternoon and is supposed to be very cold for the next week. That puts a damper on bike rides for a while, so not eating will be a good thing.

You mean you don't just LOVE biking on ice and through big drifts of snow??? I already got a flat in my new bike that I bought just so I could ride through drifts of debris left by the street cleaner. So I guess I'll have to stay off the road while the sky empties itself of water over our area. But I will get out there again........some day:))

Take care.

Tuesday's fun

Tuesday, December 07, 2010

This morning I had an orthodontic appointment. Got a "tight" upper chain and large triangle rubberbands (translation, won't be eating for a while). Next appointment is Jan 13th and they will schedule removal in Feb. YIPPEE! Removal sounds great. But in the meantime, won't be eating much for the next few days.

DH and I spent some time getting the last of the Christmas presents organized. If everything is delivered in time, all that is left are finishing up the photo albums for everyone. I also started baking goodies for our goodie boxes to take to the post office, pharmacy, doctor, work, neighbors, and friends. At least they will all be given away.

I hope your mouth settles down quickly! Great idea to bake to give away - that's what I've started doing, with just a small sample of each to satisfy my sweet tooth. I get the fun of baking without the pain of de-weighing!

Family Lunch Monday

Monday, December 06, 2010

Once again the family got together for lunch. We went to one of MIL's favorite restaurants. We hadn't been back there since she passed away in July and it felt strange being there without her. But instead of ordering the usual pizzas, we had soup and salad. The soup was chicken gumbo and on this cold day it was especially good. This evening was the remembrance service at the funeral home. There is a short candle light service and everyone who has lost a loved one is invited to hang an ornament on the Christmas tree. DH is working this week, so I went and put one on the tree for MIL. It was a nice service, I'm glad I decided to go.

Now I'm off to ride the trainer.

I remember when my mom died, my brothers and their families, my daughter and I went out after visitation. It was very surreal to me.

What a wonderful way to honor and remember those who have passed. And aren't you glad you went? Sometimes i have to drag myself out to go to church but I am never sorry.

Hope your trainer ride was good:))

Continuing Education Sunday

Sunday, December 05, 2010

Today DH and I had to finish up our CE for the year. We had an hour drive there and back, plus the 5 hours in class. Not exactly the perfect family time, but gave us time to have nice chats on a variety of subjects. Tomorrow he starts his 7 days of work, and I have 2 extra days this week. Seems like we are back to our old routines. I will have to make an extra effort to find some family time.

I find that my hubby and I have some of our best talks in the car as there is less distraction.

Dec 4: Family time

Saturday, December 04, 2010

One of my December Resolutions is to spend one hour with family members every day. No TV, no cell phones, no video games. Just spending time doing things together.

Last night the grands spent the night with us. We picked them up from the school bus and took them to see Megamind. Then we went to dinner and came home and read books before bedtime.

This morning we got up and made pancakes for breakfast then turned on the Christmas music and started decorating our Christmas tree. Today was Home Depot day, so we went and they made frames to give the great grand parents for Christmas. Then we came home and finished the tree, packed a picnic and went to the park for lunch. After lunch we took the boys home so we could all get some rest.

It was a good day.

I love these Home Depot projects. My grandson made a bird house one time. It was awesome. That was a couple of years ago and he still has it in his yard.
