Day 952: Lion Taming Life

I am taking control of my life back. My special needs son is back in school and seems to be adjusting. We have tackled a number of costly life events and are still treading water. I now have 7 hours a day (on weekdays) TO MYSELF and I am going to whip my house, my yard and my craft studio, AND MYSELF back into shape!

I recently lost some of the weight I gained back in the last year and I am moving forward with things that make me feel healthier, more organized, less stressed and less out of control.

My new Goal outline

#1 mini goal: start a fitness streak with minimum 10min /day.
plan: I am following a 90 day walking to fitness program, and have a membership to the YMCA where I can do circuit training and swimming (which I love!)

#2 mini goal: 9 fruit/veggies a day

#3 mini goal: stay in calorie range 6 day/wk

#4: check in with my SP Buddy daily emoticon

Monthly Goal: Lose 6lb in August

Goal: lose 2lb per week to meet target goal of 250lb by Nov 11th

Long term goal: Look and feel Marvelous at my Niece's wedding next year!

I was doing really well with exercise for a bit until I allowed a funeral trip and the warming weather to derail me. I need to keep up with my exercise. I feel better when I do it, It has positive effects on my body and my mood so why is it so hard to just do it?

I have my goals in front of me every day- posted in the pantry, on my mirror, in my car.
Why not do the same thing with my motivators?

So I created a post with the following and placed it on my mirror, next to where I sit in the evenings prior to my walk and in my pantry to help with periodic cravings.

Here is my list - what would yours look like?

How LONG do you want to live?

What QUALITY of life do you want?

How BADLY do you want to feel better?

How IMPORTANT is it for you to look better and be more comfortable in your own skin?

How SIGNIFICANT is it to you to have the energy to keep your home lovely and pursue the goals that fulfill you?

How CRITICAL is it that you be around to help your son as he grows to a man?

Day 816: A request for prayer / positive vibes

I have two things going on right now that I really need some emotion shoring up and prayer for health.

First is my DH. He has type 2 diabetes and his kidney function labwork indicates a problem. He is seeing a specialist tomorrow. It could be situational and it could be much more serious. Please say a prayer for his health. I just don't know what my family would do if he were seriously ill.

Second, I got a text from the grandma of a little friend of my DS. We have been helping out at times while she goes through the fight with breast cancer. She is scheduled for surgery in a couple weeks so today I talk to her about taking her grandson for up to 14 days while she has the surgery and then recuperates.

There is no other family for this little guy, that's not in prison. Please join me in saying a prayer for his grandma as she takes on the next step in this fight with a radical mastectomy.

Day 813: I am a Positive Cheater

So here I was, hiding the fact that I cheat. Feeling guilty about not being COMPLETELY honest in my posts.

Along comes the results of a dieting survey about the habits of those who successfully drop weight and keep it off. Well, one of the things on the list was my cheating! I post my weekly weigh-ins only where there is a loss to report. I have done this since joining SP and always felt a bit guilty about it. Like I wasn't owning up to my struggles.

Well, apparently there are a lot of people just like me. And it's a habit of those who effectively lose weight! By focusing on positive movement toward my goal, rather than any of the setbacks or normal fluctuations in life I am actually improving my chances of meeting my goal and keeping my new healthier status.

    I do the same too as I know myself and I like to see a change it keeps me motivated. I have a lot of sparkfriends who blog their totals each week.

I don't see it as cheating we are all different and need to apply ourselves to whatever helps us keep going.
