It's been over two years now!

Although I don't post updates, SparkPeople has been vital in my life. This site has been a daily habit that I have no intention of breaking.

Once I realized that part of my new lifestyle is being accountable to MYSELF it made things much easier. The last two years have been spent gaining a new attitude about food and moving. By moving I just mean getting off the couch and going for a walk. My goal is to reach the 10,000 steps per day that is the suggested recommendation.

Exercise was NEVER in my vocabulary, even when I was young, but just two weeks ago I joined a gym. Living in Minnesota, winters can be brutal. There really were very few days that I missed my walk even with the weather, however getting older I'm more concerned about falling and felt this might be a safer route. It's also important to note that I hadn't seen any changes to my body in quite some time so am looking forward to the next chapter in my ongoing lifestyle.

It's so easy to log in every single day and the amount of information available to us is really unbelievable. We should all feel very lucky.

    As long as the gym has heat! When I was younger I would chuckle at the older folks walking around the mall, but now I understand completely. It's warm, flat, no gravel, perfect for getting in those steps.

    I also enjoy the amount of information available on Sparkpeople. I don't log in every day but I log in pretty frequently. When I got my fitbit I started moving more and in the last year I too have made it my goal to get 10,000 steps a day in. Good luck on your journey. Sparkpeople is a fun place to share the journey.

The "program" almost one year later...

I couldn't be more thrilled with this program! Since starting SparkPeople (just a few days shy of one year) I am now 81 pounds lighter and, being a 52 year old woman, never in my wildest dreams did I think that would be possible. My attitude about food, myself and life in general has changed drastically. I take joy in the daily small changes that have made such a difference.

In reading a few blogs, some people are disappointed with a weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week. Well, let me tell you, that one pound loss adds up to 52 pounds in the course of a year. Rejoice in that and stick with it!

7th Month on "The Program"

This is my first entry although I've been on the program for 7 months. I've never thought of myself as a great writer or communicator however even if I was I doubt there would be adequate words to describe how I feel about this site. It's really changed my life and thought process regarding my weight.

As of weigh in day today I've lost a total of 62 pounds by eating healthy meals and walking. I've been using SparkPeople in conjunction with counting points using the "old" Weight Watchers program. Being almost 52 I never imagined seeing results like I have in this short period of time.

I'm very proud of my accomplishments but really credit SparkPeople for helping me change my life.

    You should be proud, 62 pounds is no small feat! Great job! Today is my 3 months and I've lost 20 pounds, yeah I'd say this site works miracles.

    Keep focused for success. You can do it. Go for it I started in July of 2007 and down 44.4 lbs. It works.
