more on story telling

Thursday, December 15, 2011

a couple of you were nice enough to ask about story telling. it is the world's oldest art form. practice around many an ancient fire, there are story telling groups around the world. Here in the US you can find one by checking with The National storytelling network. You are likely to be surprised by how many there are. There are many venues to hear story telling. libraries, schools, senior groups, and theaters, there are a number of festivals. some quite large. This art form is enjoyed by people of all ages, come listen some time. you'll have a good time.

My granddaughter not only loves to be read to, but loves to read to others too. Perhaps it's time to expose her to THIS group. She's 7, but a loving, caring, and "in control" type 7 year old. Thanks!

I think it takes a great skill to be able to be an effective storyteller and one I wish I could do! It sounds like a lot of fun! Jeannie

down home

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

The second wednesday of each month is one of my favorite nights. It's the story swap nights. Tellers gather to tell each other and anyone else who comes by stories. Some nights I go with a tale I really want to try out. others I'll have 3 or 4 in mind. Tonight i had nothing. Still its my job to set things up for the evening, we had some really good tales.
When my turn came a story came to me. About a place called 'Down Home'. I hope each of you have or had such a place. A rather comfortable place where the family gather for holidays and such. Mine was burned down in the late 60's . Yet it still exists in my heart.
I liked telling the story and it will become part of my regular rotation,

I, too, would love to hear the rest of your story. The whole story telling idea sounds like a blast. How wonderful to get together with friends to share a story, a laugh, or just being together. I know you must have fun. Thanks for sharing.

I'd love to hear about your down home place.

Story telling is something I miss. Maybe I can set something up with a few friends. Thanks for the idea.

It sounds like getting together to hear each other's stories is a wonderful idea and great for the tellers and listeners. Is it sponsored by your church--just curious. Your story sounds like something I'd like to hear and I was hoping you'd sum it up for us but I guess I'll always have to wonder what your story was. emoticon

So glad you took the time to read some blogs as they do help us on our healthy Journey as I usually can relate to something said in them. So glad you joined the 60 and over Team. . .I'm active on the Team but have been having computer problems and just got back on my computer after almost a week and I think I was having withdrawal--LOL. If you haven't yet be sure to read the Spark Book by Chris Downie Founder of Sparkpeople as it was and is very helpful and motivating to read. God Bless,

Jill

feeling good today

Wednesday, December 07, 2011

I woke up feeling pretty good today, That's good because I've got a lot to get done, Today it feels like I could do some of them at last, Getting in some spark time first, That is at least some I can do every day, whether I ache or not. High on my list today os groceries, A chore I usually don't look forward to, But one I vow to enjoy today, I hope you also have a good day, emoticon emoticon emoticon

I surely do understand aching. AND I normally dread grocercy shopping, because of the aftermath. But your determination to enjoy it is a big piece of getting through it. I've been trying to get out and around more, myself.

I love your outlook on grocery shopping today. I'm going to keep this in mind next time because it's usually my least favorite thing to do. Thank you for helping me rethink my attitude about it!

Holiday Cheer

Monday, December 05, 2011

Well, my back pain seems to be pretty much behind me, but then again that's where its been all along. Seriously I am feeling better and have some hope in actually getting stuff done. No great exercise plan just yet. but just being pain free enough to get the house in order would be pretty good. Hopefully getting busier will show up on the scale too, I will try to come up with a better exercise plan for the new year. For now it will be just a day to day plan, Having a more friendly environment to start the new year off will be great, I do hope your day is going well, HAVE A GREAT DAY AND WATCH OUT FOR THE OFFICE COOKIE PUSHER. We do love our pushers, emoticon emoticon emoticon

LOL....good one. I work alone, so there are no cookie pushers this year, just have to watch out for the residents who might drop by with a "goodie" for the girl in the office. I remember one year a resident dropped by with a pound of the best home made fudge I've ever tasted.....that's when I discovered (because I was told about) the valuable recipe for fudge on the Fluff jar.

Just sayin'
