Anniversary of my dad going to heaven

Monday, September 29, 2008

I am feeling down today; a year ago dad left this earth and went to heaven. I still miss him a lot. We celebrated his life yesterday with my mom--all of us kids and spouses (7 of us total). We went to mass at mom's church. She really cannot get out without help as she uses a walker, so it was nice to get her out. We had a nice dinner prepared by all of us and shared our favorite memories of dad. It was a nice day..........I just felt like sharing this. I know time heals the pain--it is just all coming back today. I was with him when he passed on--so was my mom and my sis. I was reading Psalm 23 and within minutes, he left us. It was like he was telling us "Finally someone reads from the Bible"!!!!!!! I am so glad I have such happy memories of him. Blessings to all of you!

My mother passed away 12 years ago.... I am the only daughter and we were close. I still miss her but one thing that has helped is me thinking of the day she passed away as a birthday..... a birthday into Heaven. She loved birthdays so I always think of her as happy.
Praying for you dear friend.

My Dad died in 1986 and I still miss him. So many times I reach out to call him to share something.... I don't think the lonliness ever passes but it does allow us to finally think about the person and remember all the good thing. Hang tough girlfriend. You are not alone.

I can lose weight!!

Friday, September 05, 2008

Since I last blogged, I have been stalled at the scale--not sure why--have done the exercise, drinking the water, eating right--at least I thought so!! Then I got out my measuring cup and decided to use my little food scale and found out that I had been eating more than I really should--it does pay to use those cool weight loss gadgets we buy!!!!! Anyway, I am down 2# and am really happy about that!!! I continue to visualize a new me, slim and healthy and feeling great!!! We are all so worth it!! I am eating just to be satisfied--not stuffed--wow--that is a wonderful feeling! Try it--you just might lose some weight!!!! I hope you all have a blessed day--make it so! emoticon

Aha...the secret. I was doing great with measuring for a while, and have gone back to "eyeing" it. Since I have hit a plateau...maybe I need to get back to this too.

Good job on the loss - keep it up!

I am soooooo psyched!!!!!!

Friday, August 15, 2008

Oh, my gosh--I got on the scale this morning and lost 2 more pounds!!! I have really been watching what I eat--eating till just satisfied and eating EVERYTHING I REALLY WANT!!!!!!! I have got my focus back--just taking it a day (sometimes just an hour) at a time--keeping the junk out of the house. I have decided that I cannot trust myself with certain ice creams......so I am having the Skinny Cow Dippers--I l ike them, but I do NOT love t hem, so that is good!!! I can eat one and be happy with that!!!!! I also like the Jello ff fudge pops!!! ONE only and I am happy!!!!

When we got back from our vacation, I decided--after looking at the pictures my son sent--that I really do look fat, and that really motivated me; made me sad too--I even got teary eyed looking at them, but it woke me up!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong--I didn't say to myself, ok--let's exercise 3 hours a day--no--I just said to myself, "help me Lord" and give me direction and then I just said to myself "JUST DO IT"!!!!!!! I really did not want to, but I decided if I do what I have always done, I will get the same results--I am tired of those results........I CHOOSE TO CHANGE ME!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading my blog! emoticon

I haven't really gained any weight but I haven't lost any either...I am experiencing some knee pain and know that it is due to all the extra fat I am carrying around. You are my inspiration and I am going to start again next week when my life becomes routine once again. Buggy

I cannot believe it!!!

Friday, August 01, 2008

WOW--what a shocker--to get on the new scale I bought yesterday--and to see I am up 7#!!!!!! I wished I had never bought that new scale--and it is right--I compared it with my 5# bag of flour!!!!! OK, so I can get all negative about it and eat myself into oblivion, but I WILL NOT!!!!! With the help of the good Lord and believing in myself and CHOOSING healthier foods, I will lose this 7# by the end of this month!!!! I am going to post this goal all over my house!! I CAN DO IT!!!!!! emoticon

Don't worry about it. I have 2 sets of scales in my house. One upstairs and one downstairs. the downstairs scale always reads 10 pounds higher. Like someone else suggest it could very well be fluid that caused your weight gain. If that's the case it'll come off in a few days. good luck

Hey, 7 lb is nothing. I go up and down 5 to 10 pounds day to day. I have decided to avoid at all costs the scale at the gym. My home scale is usually about 3-5 pounds lighter even though I keep adjusting the starting weight and it is a brand new scale. I bought one with a huge dial so I could read it easier and it has one of those sliding things to show the last weigh in or my goal, etc. Lately the slider has been stuck at 200 and I have been mostly to the right of that darn red marker. If you have a water retention problem that 7 pounds could go away in just a few days and I would not panic. Drink lots of water and avoid sodium. That works wonders for me. I went out to eat last night and so I am retaining water like crazy today. My doctor said to take parsley capsules and my weight loss program says to drink "shooters" of apple cider vinegar. And, of course, I have to remember to take my diuretic the doctor has me on, too. Hope your weight gain is temporary and hope these suggestions help at least a little bit. emoticon

Oh myyyyyy!!! 7#'s? i want a scale like yours! If i trade you scales... hmmmmm If you should step on my scale it would say ZERO! I have a broken scale so it is a good excuse for me not getting on but I weighed at the Dr.'s. I am slowly losing but losing nevertheless! Congrats!

WENDYRVP 8/1/2008 3:46PM

New scales are a bugger. They can give you a sudden weight increase or decrease. I have the same problem with my doctors office. I weigh about 10 more pounds on their scale... which is crazy! I have a good scale at home and it matches exactly what my gym scale says. So just remind yourself you most likely did not gain that weight... it is just reading slightly higher. Take the new number and go with it. YOU WILL SUCCEED! The real proof is in how you feel and how your clothes fit. Has that changed or improved?
I have added you to my friends so I can peek in on you. I so understand where you are coming from.

Dont let the numbers on the scale focus on getting healthy, eating better, and improving your quality of life. The scale will be forced to follow.
